So it's August now, which is another month closer to October! Anyway, Im always in the market for a new horror flick to watch. What are some of yall's favorites? Or perhaps, whats a newer film youve seen and loved? The last flick I watched was The House of the Devil. It was pretty awesome.

House of the Devil is on my Netflix queue. I am terribly picky about horrow movies. I really like the idea of them but always find some kind of issue with their execution.

As far as execution goes, The House of the Devil is pretty solid and incredible considering the efforts made to make it seem like a movie right out of the early 80s. The pace is fantastic too. Its definitely for people who like movies like Rosemary's Baby and The Omen.
Bill Mosely is involved so Im excited. Although, I loved Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, its hard to consider it an actual sequel. Its a totally different movie to me. A totally different, awesome movie.
Evil Dead (the whole series) Suicide Club Ichi the Killer (this one's just damn crazy!) Last House on the Left (the original paired with Bergman's The Virgin Spring (the original original)) Henry Portrait of Serial Killer Re-animator Suspiria House of 1000 Corpses
Honestly, I havent seen too many great horror movies in the last few years. Definitely not much coming out of the US.

I am a fan of this thread! I LOVE horrr films.
Some folks will scoff but I think The Grudge*1* was one of the scariest movies made in recent memory (the american version, Not Ju-on). Another Movie I though was really good was Insidious*2* , it got a little silly near the end, but otherwise an excellent movie.
If you don't mind reading Subtitles I highly recommend Shutter*3* (their is an american version of this film that I've hear is awful so be sure to get the Phillipino one, it's on Neflix streaming). Also Thirst*4* is one of the best movies I've ever seen. Not scary really IMO, but it's the best Vampire flick I've ever seen with the only challenger being Let the Right One In*5* (or it's American verision Let Me In, just as good....wtf was up with changing the title, seriously )

Can you really call Suicide Club a horror movie? Ive watched it 3 times, and Im still not sure what kind of movie to call it lol. Its a cool flick, dont get me wrong. Re-animator is amazing! And I just rewatched Henry for the first time since I was 10 or so, its still pretty fucked up.

I think the rolls of flesh push it at least to borderline horror, but the musical number might bump it right back out... ???

I hope this thread lives long and prospers cause I'm always looking for new horror.
Insidious was surprisingly good. As was The Last Exorcism, but only if you like Docu/found footage style films. Thirst is amazing!
btw I started a website recently, and am looking for new members for the forum, if youre interested in talking about horror flicks with strangers on the internet that is

IMO Henry wasn't so much scary as it was extremely disturbing. You should check out Funny Games www.imdb.com/title/tt0808279/. The English version is an exact duplicate of the German version shot for shot. Good god that movie is so f@#$ed up!!!

Oh yeah, Wolf Creek was pretty good. I remember thinking it was kind of short or something though. Now I dont remember. Maybe I just wanted it to be more over the top.

Would Lindsy be the wook? Robert could be the creepy roadie and John the security guy at the gate who rifles through your shiz and eventual hero of the story!
