To anyone who is contemplating on going: Do the payment plan. You won't be stuck buying those damn shuttle passes if you do so. Also, they will sell out quick again and you will be kicking yourself if you have to fork out 500+ bucks through some assshole scalper. 50 bucks a month wont hurt you, I hope. Stay out of the bar for a weekend a month to make up for it. Make a Tombstone pizza instead of ordering out of some local shop for 20/pie. Make it work.
This exactly. I'll drop two sushi dinners a month, and it will be like nothing ever happened. Good advice, sir.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced room close to a shuttle line, the one I linked above is a great bet...much cheaper than the travel packages. We can always ask for our rooms to be close to each other as we get closer, too!
The way I look at it, there is zero risk and tons of reward! Come to the dark side ;D

Advance passes go on sale beginning this Thursday, May 17th, 2012 10:00 am PDT through the following Thursday, May 24th, 2012 10:00 pm PDT. This advance sale will be the only opportunity to take advantage of the Coachella Purchase Plan. New for 2013, the price you see is what you pay — prices reflect all fees included. The general on sale will happen early next year

They use a lobby system which is completely random. It doesn't pick people out of the queue from the order you enter. This means you could wait 5 minutes to 2+ hours.
