Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo in 2013!!
The venue itself is nicer though. Perfect green grass and such, mountains in the distance, beautifully lighted up palm trees, art installations, etc.
Doesn't make the people that attend any better at picking up after themselves though.
Yeah, and the grass. The year I went to Roo (2011) there was barely any grass and dust was all over. Coachella is much nicer, but just because of the venue, not because it is cleaner.
Yeah, 2011 was a beast for the dust. Good thing Ford was giving out the handkerchiefs again.
I went to Roo in '10 and '11 (had tix for '12 but couldn't make it) and Coachella in '12. Personally I'm a bigger fan of Bonnaroo.
Coachella has better weather (at least it's a dry heat and you can wash and hang your clothes at night, and they'll be dry in the morning) and does tend to be cleaner. The big art pieces are cool.
I prefer Bonnaroo because I like their lineup better, the setup of the stages is better (less noisebleed--when I saw The Head and the Heart right next to the Sahara tent, all I heard was the thumping bass drowning out the folk music), the people seem to be friendlier and has a wider range of ages of attendees, I like Centeroo checking out all the vendors--I even built my own drum! The very same drum that effing Coachella confiscated from me, and never answered any emails about me retrieving it. Jerks.
Anywho, I'm still not going to complain too much about Coachella, because I did have a great time last year.

Because I had it. They took it when they checked the car on our way in. Forgot I had left it up in the car top carrier.
It does actually say no drums in the prohibited items, but even then, I just kinda thought that you couldn't bring it to the fest where the music was. I figured it'd be fine in the camping area, and didn't think anything of it when I opened the carrier. Apparently not, though. My Bonnaroo '10 wristband was weaved into the ropes, too, so that memorabilia is gone as well.

Nothing like a drum circle in the morning after 12 hours of music the day before.
Also, side note... I have NO idea how they allow those party busses and vendors that play dubstep till sunrise in the campsites. I would be furious. There are people camping about 10 feet from the bus.

I'm actually kind of excited for Blur to headline. I was stoked that they'd be playing at all, and I'd rather them have 90 minutes or more instead of a shorter set. In my opinion, they've got the catalog to pull it off, and the fact that it's their first U.S. appearance in 6 years or so makes it pretty special. I'd much rather have a kind of off-kilter choice like Blur headlining than some fairly-popular KROQ band like RHCP or whoever. If the bros and broettes flee it in droves because Aoki is spinning crazy beats over in the Sahara, all the better.
Phoenix...I'd be less stoked on. I'd love them as a pre-headliner, but not for the big act of the night. I'd probably be elsewhere (much as I would have been elsewhere during the Black Keys last year). Looking back on past lineups, the quality of acts that are put on opposing the headliners really doesn't leave me too concerned with who actually headlines.

I still don't think Blur, Phoenix or Nick Cave will be a "headliner" at coachella. It's possible that Blur and Phoenix might share the top line on one day though. I feel like those acts are the equivalent of SHM, Justice, Pulp, Refused, Bon Iver, Shins, AtDI, and Florence from last year though. Also, Coachella tix are like 60% more expensive than Primavera tix.

what you believe is inconsequential. ps nick cave is not a headliner.
He's headlining Primavera just like Blur and Phoenix. Did you comprehend my post at all when you read it? We'll see just how "inconsequential" my opinion is when the lineup drops.

the implication of my post is that the other two ARE headlining and your opinion of their headline-worthiness is inconsequential.
I didn't say he was. I said quit the opposite. gotdamn.

And the implication of my post is that IF the other two ARE headlining they will be sharing the top line on the same day or with someone else of equal stature.

Just because some acts may headline Festival X and also headline Festival Y does not mean that any and all acts that headline X could headline Festival Y.
For instance, Widespread Panic, Dispatch and STS9 are headlining Wakarusa. The fact that Widespread Panic would also headline Bonnaroo does not mean that Dispatch or STS9 would.
Hence, just because Blur and Phoenix could/will headline Coachella (as they are at Primavera) doesn't mean that Nick Cave would do the same.

I understand completely. I just don't think that is happening unless they are sharing the top line with someone else at a fest that costs $130 more per ticket.

saying it over and over again will make your opinion become fact.

It's ok man. I realize you guys are just regurgitating the latest info coming from the secret coachella group or whatever the fvck. And I appreciate that. I'm just stating that I feel very indifferent about this info and would not put it up on a pedestal as fact just yet.
