I really didn't think Reznor would be returning to NIN so quickly, but that AMA makes it sound pretty imminent. Would he really bring two separate projects to one festival, though? That's the biggest red flag on the fake lineup. NIN shows are big productions, and I imagine How to Destroy Angels will be pretty involved, too. There's no way both bands will tour simultaneously, it doesn't make sense to travel with all that gear and two separate crews. I know he said in the AMA that he was preparing to rehearse with two bands, but I highly doubt the tours will overlap.

I actually think the fake is pretty close to what the real thing will be. I think Blur and AfP could maybe switch but if it's the only fest date for AfP they really might headline. I think the biggest red flag is 2 Chainz as low as he is. I hate the guy but he is one of the most popular rap names right now and would be billed a lot higher up.
Wish I would not have missed pre-sale. I'm 100% going to Coachella this year, because complications from this past Roo has ruled 2013 out as an option.
As for AFP, Coachella could get away with it, assuming Daft Punk is there. Coachella is as much a music festival as it is a place to be seen for those in Cali.
2013 Pitchfork and TBA 2012 Bonnaroo and Maha Festival 2011 WakaROO (Wakarusa and Bonnaroo) Maha Festival 2010 Coachella 2009.... First Roo 2008 lost my festival virginity to Wakarusa

Yep and it gets worse and worse every year. SXSW is pretty much the same way (lots of Austin shows honestly). It's all about "checking in" and making sure your Instagram photos are seen. Actually it's the only reason I've never gone to ACL. Meh.

That vibe is what has kept me from committing to Coachella over the last couple years. But Coachella gets bands that I like that Bonnaroo doesn't get and that don't tour here very often.
I really didn't like the idea of checking into shows this year at Roo. Leave the Internet at home.

It is what it is. Lol. I mean,it is what you make it. I never bother with the social networking stuff at these fests. For me, it's just a great chance to see a lot of different acts and have a full day of shows. And Coachella really provides an opportunity to see artist that I normally wouldn't get to.

Coachella is still a magical place, just a bit different. I dance/enjoy my music whethe the crowd is or not, so I'm good regardless.
In terms of the whole "check in" at roo this year, I didn't care too much. However, I was checked into mac miller and a few others, when I was never there to begin this. It ruined so much of my hipster cred!

Agreed. I pay no attention to the folks around me once I really get into the music. It's definitely a different vibe from bonnaroo, but I don't think that's a bad thing.
I would encourage everyone to check out Coachella at least once. I was very skeptical before going my first time and fell in love with it.

i just want to say that i've been to 4 bonnaroos and one coach and i did not find this to be the case at all. the vibe is different at coachella but not in a bad way. i camped with my friend from college and his friends from the coach board. they were all very friendly and all the people that were camped around us were friendly too. disclaimer: i will also admit that i love celebrities (no shame). i wanted SO BAD to see one and i didn't all weekend.
honestly, the biggest vibe change in coachella is that....well. it's cleaner. in general. the grounds are cleaner and the people are cleaner. and i'm not really going to complain about that.

I don't actually love the Bonnaroo "vibe" at this point. I'm looking very much forward to experiencing Coachella. I have a feeling that if I didn't live pretty much in the exact opposite part of the country from Indio, I'd be there every year without fail.
The main thing holding me back right now is figuring out how to get all my camping gear there (because I'd have to fly) or, if not that, how the hell to afford any of the expensive-ass hotels near the venue.
But I desperately, desperately want to see Sigur Ros.

Just come see them in Chicago.
Kind of sucks they're playing in a college basketball arena.

Kyle, you can totally borrow my tent and shade structure.
And cooler, cot, chairs, whatever else I have that you need.

I was thinking about going to see them in NY, but it's on a Monday, which is super inconvenient. Plus Coachella would be a lot more fun if I could make it happen. Kinda doubt I can afford the Coach trip, though.
If I don't end up going to Coach, I will probably try to figure out a way to see them elsewhere this tour (probably NYC).

Hmmm interesting. Thanks a lot, CKS, this definitely helps. I will let you know.

I have an old drum hardware bag I pack all of my camping gear in. And if you can possibly fly Southwest they have that whole "bags fly free" thing going on. I've flown with camp gear 3 out of the 5 times I've gone and once to bonnaroo without any problems.
