This is implying the Jets actually expected to "move him" in any way besides cutting him. They don't, the Jags were a 1/1,000,000 shot and they're just going to eat the dead money and cut him most likely.
People in Jax/Florida are weird.
All I had read on it was that they were going to attempt a trade but would cut him most likely if all else failed. I had never seen an actual odds on them being able to trade him. You have to admit that trading him to the Jags makes a certain kind of sense because of Tebow's history there, but it's good to see that Caldwell is too smart to make a move based off ticket sales alone.
The thing is, the "rumor" was basically created out of thin air. People wanted Tebow to got to Jax, so they assumed the teams would work something out. Then the owner of the Jags (PHENOMENAL mustache, btw) hinted he might be open to bringing in Tebow and that's all the Teboners needed. A crack in the floodgates becomes a crater and all hell breaks loose.
Tebow is 100% gone from the Jets, and Sanchez is 50/50 right now. They can eat his cap hit and still be about $18 million under. Once factoring in that half of the guys they need to sign will be minimum level and they'll keep ~5 rookies on the roster via the draft...that means they have about $10 mil for 5 spots, and if you have ~$2mil per roster spot you can sign some good players. When the Jets re-signed Harris (this is when his second contract actually kicked in), Cromartie and Holmes their Year 1 cap hit was just over $3 million, so it's entirely possible they sign two above average starters and 3 bench players, or one really good player and 4 bench players, and...well, you get the idea.
But I'll just take a GM at this point. Someone to look the camera in the eye and say "Mark Sanchez...(platitudes that mean nothing)...that being said, we felt it was in everyone's best interest that we cut Mark and let him find a new opportunity elsewhere." Please.

Nate Silver says the Super Bowl will be Patriots-Seahawks with the Patriots coming out on top. Guess we can skip watching the rest of the playoffs now.
Jimmy Johnson tweeted that the Bears are hiring Marc Trestman from the CFL as their coach. Does anyone know why a CFL coach was even on their radar? It just seems unusual.

Trestman (and his GM, Jim Popp) started in the US, Trestman as a QB Coach/OC back in the late 90's before becoming a positional coach in the NFL then moving to the CFL for a head coaching gig.
He's decent, but nothing special.
The Jets are "interested" in Popp, but I pray they don't sign him just so I don't have to sit through a million "LOL Jets hired a CFL GM LOL" comments.

I'm stuck smack dab in the middle of Patriot Super Fan territory. If the Seahawks somehow lost to the Pats in the Super Bowl I'd probably murder 15 people the second I heard a "u mad bro" joke.

Seems the Giants have some cap problems w/ Eli being a $20 mill cap hit and Cruz being an FA.
We're probably going to cut Webster, Canty, Diehl and possibly Boley, Bradshaw or both. It would clear enough space to bring back Cruz. But we wouldn't be able to re-sign our starting LT, LG, TE who are all FAs. And we would need to replace Canty, Boley, Bradshaw, and Webster somehow.
I can't imagine we let Cruz walk. The rest of those guys can be replaced with in-house options or the draft but, ewww. It's not looking good. This off season will be a real test for Jerry Reese. But I know he will prevail.
It's also a god-send that Hakeem Nicks still has 2 years left on his rookie deal and hasn't made any indications that he plans to hold out. He's a real team player.
Thanks quacker. And congrats billy, that's a damn good team. I don't mind any of their players, but good lord Harbaugh is a prick. Go Falcons, I guess?
Also, really ready to be done with Dom Capers. Last night's defensive "gameplan" was truly something to behold.
