I used to think that Quinn was the worst QB i'd ever seen, but then I remembered Doug Peterson, and Colt McCoy came to town with Phil Niekro as his pitching coach...

shiz, take away all the turnovers and the Chiefs could be 2-7.
Just take away Romeo Crennel
EDIT: Quacker, I'd like to get your take on the team if you will indulge me. I actually "own" Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe in some of my fantasy leagues because my friends here on the east coast don't give them enough respect (fine by me).
How can you possibly bench Matt Cassell for Brady Quinn??
Benching Cassell for Quinn is stupid but the Chiefs seem to have no shortage in stupidity. Having Charles is tough because even though he is a solid RB the Chiefs always end up playing catch-up which takes him out of the game. My summation on the Chiefs:
1) it is near impossible to be a winner nowadays without a decent passing game. 2) you can't have a passing game without talented receivers 3) Bowe is a talented receiver but you need more than one 4) McClusterf*ck is not talented in any way 5) Romeo Crennel seems to make the worst personnel decisions possible
Hey now, McCluster would get 75-80 catches on a team with a good QB, he's become a very solid slot man.
Baldwin/Breaston are no slouches, either. If you took an elite QB and put him on the Chiefs that offense would be scary, assuming their OL would keep that good QB from being killed (which is a coin toss, at this point).
The issue isn't the skill around the QB, it's the QB. And the coaching, good god is it the coaching.

IMO McCluster is awful. He drops/tips more than he catches and Breston/Baldwin are not talented enough to be a #2 behind Bowe. Cassel put up decent numbers when he had a solid receiving corp. I have to agree with you about the coaching and OL though so maybe the Chiefs passing problems are attuned to that.

Baldwin/Breaston could definitely combine for a solid (if unspectacular) #2 spot opposite Bowe if they had a QB on a Philip Rivers-level (not elite, but above average). I just think people (like with the Jets) vastly underrate how much a good QB lifts players around him vs. how much a bad player makes his teammates worse. This is especially true for inconsistent QBs like Cassel and Sanchez, where one pass being good has literally nothing to do with how the next pass looks. Guys like that are almost rhythm-proof and just can't help throwing a terrible pass at random.
NFL owners know that selling seats is best done by winning, Brady Quinn hasn't won a game since 2009, everyone knows he's a steaming pile of sh*t, including Chiefs fans.
Does this mean you are not a fan of Quinn QBing in the water? Why else would they bench him? Either way it does not matter who the Quarterback is, if you can not block and control the line of scrimmage, you are gonna turn the ball over and you are gonna lose. We can say the QB is no good or the receivers are no good, but if the OL is no good, who and how good or not good your skill positions are becomes meaningless. Blocking goes back to coaching, if coaching is off than Game Over. I think a great WR makes a good QB better as does a great QB make the WR better. They do not both have to be great to win, as long as the one can compensate for the other. I guess a great QB would be more valuable, seeing their are less QB than WR in the NFL or maybe for the leader position they are in, but then again anyone can lead if you are scoring points. Either way, give me a great OL and a mediocore QB, WR, RB and we will score points. KC needs to block.
QB's can help out WR's WAY more than a WR can help out a QB.
Exhibit A: Arizona Cardinals.
Larry Fitz is the best WR in football, it's not even close. For him to have ANY production while leaping three defenders and one-handing circus catches is remarkable. His Qb's are insultingly bad, and I actually feel so bad for Fitz having to spend his prime years with those clowns.
Exhibit B:
Deion Branch. He was in New England, tore it up, got a huge contract in Seattle before everyone realizing "oh sh*t, this guy sucks and only looked good because a future HOF QB was throwing passes to him? Crap, we need to get him outta here.
Well you are correct, the QB can't be a complete idiot, at least has to get the ball with in arms reach and I would hope a QB at the Pro level could sit in the pocket and throw a pass to a WR and get it with arms reach. Not sure if Kolb can do that, not sure Cards line is that good either. and what in the hell is he doing leaping over three defenders? If he is triple covered, who are we not throwing to or why are we not running the ball? I will go back and say Chris Carter and Randy Moss made Cullpepper and Randall Cunningham looks like gods when they played for the Vikings.
QB's can help out WR's WAY more than a WR can help out a QB.

QB > WR
Branch's contract was for about 6 mil a year. Is that a huge contract for a WR coming off a career year? I don't know, I'm honestly asking.
And I think Branch's success was less Brady and more the system. Remember when Cassell tore it up for New England?

At the time, Branch signed an elite-level contract, which also shows you how team's valuation of WR's has progressed with the growth of pass-first offenses.
Cassel definitely benefit from the system because he had timing pre-established with most of his receivers, but the offense was not quite as formidable (they were the lowest offensive rank from 2007 until now in Cassel's season, same goes for point differential). He was solid, but he did have a better season in KC than he did in New England, so he might just be a taller Mark Sanchez whose year-to-year play (or game-to-game) is impossible to understand.
As for Marky Mark? He takes 4 sacks, but only 1 INT. He sails 5 passes at least 5 feet over the receivers head on third down, though. I wish I could bet on such things.
LOL, was this actually a thing that was said at some point in time?
What do you mean? Its a no-brainer. Cutler is much better than Sanchez, no matter how much you dislike him.
I think Albert was scoffing at the notion that someone would even ASK if you'd take Cutler instead of Sanchez, because that's a question with such a clear cut answer (obviously its Cutler) that its absurd in a million ways.
Let me clear about this, the Cutler-related story I previously touched on was that the Broncos asked for David Harris and a sh*tload of picks in a trade for Cutler, which is obviously insane considering what he was actually traded for.
PMO is referring to some drunk comments I made (I'm assuming) where I said I'd rather have Mark start, called Cutler a p*ssy, or some dumb stuff like that. Cutler is a better QB than Mark, but I hate him so I wouldn't want his sulky, spoiled, d*ckheaded self on my favorite team.

The only starting QBs in the NFL I would rather have Mark Sanchez than right now are Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, whoever the Chiefs throw out there and whoever the Cardinals throw out there. And Cassel and Kolb are both close

I still remember when the Broncos wanted David Harris, a 1st rounder and another blue-chip player for Cutler. Thank God they didn't make that trade. As much as Sanchez can be maddeningly inconsistent and has a penchant for the uber-frittato play...at least he's not a summers breeze like Hay Cutler.
Drunk by 3 in the afternoon on a Thursday. A true pro.
I'll admit that Cutler is no Peyton Manning when it comes to personality, but that description was a little delusional. Cutler is an extremely tough NFL player, with a rocket arm, who is a passionate competitor that hates to lose. Sometimes he forces the ball into coverages that he shouldn't and he also needs to learn when to get out of the pocket and throw the ball away. He doesn't play the media game all to well, so in turn the media knocks him way more than they do other players for showing that emotion. Case in point, The Green Bay game the same day this statement was made, where Cutler was ripped apart for getting on his offensive line, but no one said a peep about Rodgers reaming his wide receiver a new one. Cutler is a polarizing figure no doubt, but all I care about is my favorite team winning football games. I'd much rather have a controversial winner than a likable loser.

Oh, so I wasn't drunk, just saying I'd rather not have a huge, monumental douchebag as my QB? Fair enough, I'll stand by that comment, then.
Friend is in a bar in Chicago during the off-season. He goes to the bathroom and sees Jay Cutler, hat on backwards, taking a piss at the urinal. So the guy starts going to the bathroom and says, “Hey, I’m a huge fan, also went to Vanderbilt… ”
Jay throws his head back, still pissing, eyes half-closed because he’s drunk, interrupts him with, “DOOOONNNNTTTTTT CAAAAAARRRREEEEEE.”
So now I can’t stop yelling, “DOOOOONNNNTTTTT CAAAARRRREEEEE.”
That's not summers breezey, that's hilarious. He was drunk, and he was taking a piss, and some idiot walks up to him and wants to have a conversation. What would you do in that situation if you were drunk?
