The Cannabinoids feat. Erykah Badu are playing Decibel Festival this year...
"The Cannabinoids represent a musical exploration of the science of addiction. It's the sensational reaction created when the synthetic combines with the organic, and The Cannabinoids are the receptors that bind the experience. The project was originally conceived when Erykah Badu sought to manifest live musical improvisation utilizing the tools of studio tracking and hip-hop production.
Inspired by her cosmic collaborations for her award-winning New Amerykah, Part I album release in 2008, Erykah reached out to musicians, DJs, and beatsmiths from her hometown of Dallas, Texas, whom she felt would be able to vibe with the concept. The musical concept was improvisation, and has developed into a live “remix” set. The ideological concept was akin to the studies done on cannabinoid receptors, which identified specific proteins present in the brain that are responsible for the euphoric effects of cannabis.
With each member of the group assigned a specific cannabinoid (musical role), the receptors proceed to serve as a catalyst to inspire creation in each other, and to collectively create a psychedelic, live hip-hop experience for the audience."

They frisked at the Civic Center last year, but it was inconsistent. Sometimes it was thorough, other times I went through without being touched. It got easier as the weekend progressed.

There was a Cannabinoids show at the Granada Theater in Dallas a few months ago. I didn't make it unfortunately. I would love to see what Erykah is doing with this project.
I know its a long shot but I'd love to see some Knife Party there! We're bound to get some dubstep, and if we have to have it at least let it be someone at the top of the game right now!
I think that I walked in with a keg cup of wine after brunch. I was drunk enough that I forgot it was even in my hand. Apparently, they didn't care about that either.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
No, but they've booked Van Dyke Parks and a few others that don't fit the typically synthy criteria.
I don't see any connection of X to anything Moog-ish. Van Dyke Parks created music for a commercial back in the late 60s that used a Moog. I think all of the artists have some relationship to Moog or related synth.
Oh my goodness, Pantha Du Prince, Richie Hawtin and Squarepusher so far? Yeeeeees.
certainly putting the collective fears of a "slimmed down festival" to rest
No. It is a two day festival, the past two years were three day festivals. They have confirmed that there will be less stages this year. That means the festival has been literally "slimmed down." And we don't even know what the late night situation is going to look like yet.
Don't get me wrong - these are good leaks. I'm eagerly awaiting the full lineup announcement. That doesn't make me less bummed out over losing a full day, though, or any less anxious about how separately ticketed late nights will work.
2 days are better than no days (and I can now commit to a full extra day and night enjoying beautiful Asheville), AC have already hinted at artists that make a base for a great fest (and if they do fill out the rest of the line-up with this type and calibre of act the fest should dwarf last year's edition), and I like the idea of the club space at ACC/TWA (especially if it's filled with the likes of Richie Hawtin).
I'll agree that the separate ticketing could cause issues for LN (as far as capacity goes) but I can't imagine the pricing will be unreasonable.

My semi-realistic hopefuls from here:
The Mars Volta - (some guy who wobbles) - Animal Collective - Thievery Corporation Ratatat - OFWGKTA (in some capacity) - Amon Tobin: ISAM 2.0 - Das Racist - Tame Impala The War on NO NO WORD!!! - Twin Shadow - Gang Gang Dance - Bear in Heaven - SebastiAn Eisenfunk - Omar Souleyman - Oberhofer - NOISIA - Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Fly Golden Eagle
Not sure where you got your hopefuls from, but TMV, Ratatat, and Fly Golden Eagle would be boss.
Not from anywhere in particular. Just some Moog-y bands that seem like they could realistic be there, plus a few long shots. I also tried to pick a lot that have connections with AC.

Also I think Yeasayer may play. They've been touring to support their new upcoming album. I know they just played Asheville, but I could really see them make another stop. The last show sold out. I was at the Knoxville one the next night and was up against the stage! It was awesome, despite that it was almost entirely new, unreleased material. I even met them at the bar after the show and talked for a few minutes with them. I hope they do Moog!

I won't bore you with my entire wish list, but I think these are a few that might be in the slight realm of possibility: Animal Collective, John Foxx, Gary Numan, Grizzly Bear, Sonic Boom w/ Panda Bear, Howard Jones, and Of Montreal,
... and MAYBE one of these: Kraftwerk, Bjork, and Orbital.
so it's about that time again folks, that time where we gather together in panda solidarity (btw, thanks dave for that lovely contribution! the more panda, the merrier!!)
now siggy... stare into his eyes and repeat: i. will. be. a. moogpanda.

I'm mostly concerned about the late nights because I like to be able to change my festival plans on the fly. At last year's Moog, I had to make game time decisions regarding FlyLo vs. TVOTR and Battles vs. Brandt Brauer Frick. I'd prefer to make decisions like that in the moment rather than mid-July.
They've booked great acts the past two years, and I'm sure that won't change this year. There will just be less of them.
