I just realized the February 9th deadline. Getting these done will be hard! I work seven days a week and if I take a Saturday off, for example, to get it done, the lost money would be similar to the monetary value of points gained. I might need to be creative.
EDIT: How long does it usually take to complete a poster run? I'm trying to see if I could do NYC in one evening if I trained in and out the same night.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Heads up...I had to give up my poster run for Urbana-Champaign, IL. If there are any Street Teamers who might want it, keep an eye out in the store, or email them.
EDIT: bonzai, I did one in Phoenix, an area I'm not familiar with, and was able to complete it in about 5-6 hours

Oh dear. Definitely not a one night thing then... The point value translates to like $150? Harumph! If I got rid of a shift and paid to get myself there, I'd probably be losing money unless I can figure out another reason to be in NYC and can help justify the trip/day off.

conedmiro do you think the Blacksburg market could include places in Radford? I'm trying to think of 25 (nay, 50, if we have to hit different ones) places to put up a poster.
They told me they are cool with Radford and CBurg as well as BBurg, as long as a majority of them are in the target market!

NYC might be a different experience, though. I walked ASU's campus and surrounding shops, then drove to some smoke shops around town.

I'm sure you can get your minimum 25 posters up in NYC in under 3 hrs, just walk around to coffee shops and Starbucks and random stores and ask to put posters up on their community boards
My bf was able to get 2 poster runs and he's super pumped! Where do you guys usually hang them? Do they have to be at a restaurant/bar/shop? I know sometimes posters on telephone polls is a no-no.
Be careful with Starbucks - they told me it was company policy to only hang posters for non-profits.
I did two poster runs in Chicago last year and had the best luck with public parks (I was able to google up a list of parks with public message boards) and smaller locally-owned businesses - bars and cafes. Some record stores as well. As far as chains go, I was able to hang in Potbelly's and Einstein's on the reg. Native Foods was cool too and I think they're in other major cities. Hope that helps!

They specifically don't want posters on telephone poles and/or street lamps.
Thanks for the advice, guys! I am keeping a list of suggestions. My friend and I both have Providence, so we're going to attack it together. He has Friday off, so I might get sick Friday afternoon and leave early.. cough cough. Still unsure about NYC. Thinking about sucking it up, taking a day off and just visiting some family or friends while there to make it worth it.

For Doug G and anyone else who was curious, I asked about the BLAM announcement order when I was in the office today. They said it is taking longer than usual because of them having to go in and manually add the points, checking out everything to figure out who to give the tickets to for each platform and the general business of the office post-Bonnaroo lineup announcement and pre-Forecastle announcement next week. They are working through them as they can and expect to have them done by the end of the week if all goes according to plan.
My BLAM points appear to have been added. If you look at the awarded page it says 300, but there was def more than 300 added.
Also, about when Ido they do the next poster run? I'm less than a poster run away from a ticket.
If you did all 3, being Twitter, Instagram and Vine - you get 900 instead of 300, but they're doing that manually.
Yea I know, that's what I was saying. There way more than 300 points awarded to me, so the full 900 was added, but under where it says how many points were awarded it still says 300.

Providence on Friday eh?
Possibly. I'll let you know if it happens, but we'll need to get enough posters up for two separate poster runs, so I am not sure we'll have much, if any, time to hang out.

Do they usually let you know when posters are shipped out? I thought I remember them saying they would go out today and tomorrow.
They have not gone out yet. They sent out a message to Knoxville area people for an opportunity to come package posters for shipment today. I got another message late this morning saying that they hadn't come from the printer yet, so it would be tomorrow.
HOLY SHIT! I just got the last poster run for New Orleans! Thanks guys for bumping this thread and reminding me. Does it really only take 2 poster runs to get a free ticket (8,000 per run, 16,000 for a ticket)?
You know guys, if you are hurting for points come up with a good idea to promote Bonnaroo or a show/venue/route that they would be interested in having their promo items posted, and send a mail to your community manager. You never know till you ask.
This. I sent a message asking if I could do handbills at local shows as well as Mardi Gras, Jazzfest, and French Quarter Fest

edit: and/or you can look at my strictly reposting things twitter page ghost_poopz.
Is hand billing when you just pass out flyers to people? I wanna do hand billing here, how do I do that so far away? Would they send me flyers to do that?
Sorry, I just realized this post was entirely questions. Lol.

It's flyers for specific shows being put on by them, in specific nearby markets. So the show is Punch Brothers in Asheville NC in February, and there are handbill opportunities in just the surrounding markets in January/early February.
I think there is handbilling for Roo/Forecastle at some point maybe? Those would work at shows/events in more distant markets.
Gotcha. I figured it was something like that based off of posts about it. I'd be all over hand billing for Bonnaroo/Forecastle. A lot of the bands that are playing Roo this year are coming through here in the next few months so it'd make sense.
