And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

some explain to me how this brand new festival got maynard to do a tool show and a puscifer show at the same place. www.riversedgemusicfestival.com/ it really feels like someone is dropping the ball.
Tool would require a headliner slot... they probably had their 3 headliners booked before discussions were had with Maynard/Puscifer and quite frankly Roo wouldn't trade any of their headliners for Tool.

No additions (stage or cafe) today is really bumming me out right now. Thurs. seems to be their announcement day (other than the Mon. one since they F'ed up the previous Thurs.)
So, anyone think we'll get Beach House? New album out, touring on it soon and no dates for June. They're doing Pitchfork in July they're based out of Baltimore so it's not even a huge trek regardless of if they've got dates around there.

Oh I didn't think they would add them or trade a headliner for them. Just kind of wowed by it.

I hope, as I know alot of the rest of you do, that The Men will stop by Bonnaroo after their last European date on June 3rd before heading to Canada for a gig on the 13th.

They would fill the Smith Westerns slot last year very nicely.
Well so much for my dreams of Avicii being added. He was just announced for EDC that same weekend.
F***.
I guess there's a small chance of him playing Saturday at Roo, but that would complete a 5-day run for him from the 6th straight through the 10th, which is incredibly doubtful.

wow, this is in St. Paul, and on a weekend off two festivals in a month? never been to a festival in my home state before

Just to be clear, I liked this so as to show support for an Avicii-free Roo.

Why would they add Avicii when they have Skrillex? They'd both have to be LN Which shows.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Why would they get Black Star when the already have Ludacris? Lots of festivals manage having EDM before 1am...

In a perfect world, we'd get BECK as an Artist Addition and he'd play Late Night on the Main Stage in a Jay Z slot....................... sigh (nice dream)

I just got back from EOTO. Man was that amazing show. I'm surprised they haven't been booked yet since String Cheese Incident have played multiple years.

Just took my first listen to the Of Monsters and Men album, not quite my thing but they'd be a big hit at Bonnaroo. They're tour dates are sorta strange, but it looks like they're going to be filling out another leg of a US tour after Sasquatch, they've already played the West and East coast, so a march across the midwest and into TN is a strong possibility.
you can blame The Police for ending this trend. They played about 80 mins of a 3 hr slot, leaving almost 2hrs of dead air time before the late nights could start.
and thats one of the many reasons that show sucked. 2007 was the year of headliners ending abruptly. Tool ended their set 30 minutes early I think.
but seriously. Tom Petty, Radiohead, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen all filled their 2.5 hour slots nicely. Even Pearl Jam who was only given 2 hours played for nearly 3.
The main reason for the short headliner slots is because apart from jambands like Panic and Phish and classic rock legends like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, there really aren't that many names that could fill a 2.5 to 3 hour slot. Also because the pool of headliner-calibur artists is limited in and of itself.
Radiohead will play for at least 2 hours. Hopefully more if they give Bonnaroo the same special treatment this year as they did in 2006. RHCP will play 1.5 to 2 hours. I just liked it more when a headliner started at 9 or 9:30 and ended at 11:30 or 12. and the latenights started right then instead of 12:45 to 1. Simpler and better IMO.
I stated this a TON last year. We had two headliners last year that played 90 minutes or less. To me, if you cannot play 2 hrs. (or more) worth of stuff, then perhaps you should not be considered a headliner. Eminem could have EASILY have done this if not for the "lets play all the songs that got me here in a 15 minute promo" routine. As for Arcade Fire, it was still only 90 minutes despite how "great" everyone thought they were.

I have to agree. Short shows bother me. Especially in a festival scenario. I enjoyed Arcade Fire but I still feel it's almost disrespectful to play that short. When I saw them in Phoenix a few months before Roo it was exactly 87 minuets from the start of their intro music to the end of the encore and I believe Roo clocked in at 91. That seems to be the trend these days though I guess.
