mewithoutYou would be a great add. Brother Sister is one of my all time fav albums and they are set to release an album between now and anytime before summer. They could play before NEEDTOBREATHE and have ourselves a first ever christian tent. Also they're represented by The Agency Group which has a provided a lot of b'roo bands. (doesnt really mean anything, they literally represent 1000's of bands)
Dude, if you can't pull enough of the God vibe off of the acts that usually play at Roo you definitely need to find a different festival.
Just look around, there is always Gospel, lots of Americana and Bluegrass songs have religious roots not to mention the Sacred steel that Robert Randolph and the gang are going to be laying down. - Just relax and soak it in, you'll have a blast.

Well said. The Word played on Sunday in '05, and the only time Robert Randolph spoke he said something like "it's sunday and I know nobody here made it to church, so we're gonna bring the church to you". I'm not a religious man, but I pulled a Blues Brothers after I'll Fly Away.
Also, Mavis Staples was simply amazing last year, and she's straight gospel
What do you think the chances of Rubblebucket or Greensky Bluegrass being added are? I'd love to see both of them there, but either one would just make it that much better.

I'd love to see Rubblebucket there and I think it's somewhat possible they get added. I saw them on a lot of mock lineups and was a little surprised they weren't on the original lineup.
On the Jimmy Fallon show just now, Elvis Costello and The Roots played Springsteen's"Brilliant Disguise"in a re-arranged and cooler kind of way.
Was thrilled a couple of Roos ago to get to see Elvis and Jenny Lewis do "Carpetbagger" together. Probably way too much to imagine that he could show up again this year to do just a song or two with The Roots (?)
Whichever. The Roots --either jamming with friends, or just doing their own show-- are not to be missed.

Yeah! I saw that too. Having seen them recently (which was awesome), I was pretty disappointed not to see them on the initial lineup, but I'm thinking there's still a good chance.

^^^ Same for me, on Mavis Staples last year. Beautiful. Especially when she brought out Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, and friends for "The Weight".
Was in the sixth row for SUN afternoon Daniel Lanois/Black Dub tent show later that day when they did "The Maker", and it just doesn't get much more literal, or spiritual, than his rendition of that song. Even with a huge sonic wall of (intentional) guitar feedback and reverb effects.
There's incredible music there, all weekend. Even for us God-fearers.

Pretty eager to see 'em again this June.
He'll be in Europe the whole weekend.
Bummer. But still, The Roots.
And... Manders in America! Seems a fair swap benefitting our side, at least for the weekend.
Not about artists additions, but Black Lips are playing with Neon Indian in Sydney tomorrow. Just thought that was a weird combo of bands to do a show together. It would be awesome tho.
Also not really about realistic Artist Additions, so much as something I'd dearly love to see.
Why not a circa '77 original OMFUG/CBGB stage, curated by the like of John Lydon?
Patti Smith, playing "Horses" album live in its entirety. (The song "Land" could almost be a 35-yr precursor to current Radiohead.) A couple of cuts from "Radio Ethiopia" would be swell too.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that The Roots have made Fallon a must-watch for anyone with even a passing interest in music. Night after night they feature absolutely superb performances, it's pretty astounding. It's at the point now where I have a season pass set up for Fallon on my DVR just to make sure I can catch the Roots the next morning.
Their 8 minute jam sesh with Bon Iver was otherworldly
I too was a little surprised with the lack of Rubblebucket. I remember in the direct confirmation thread that they had replied something to the effect of it was possible they were playing Roo but didn't know yet. Seems like a decent chance for an add, plus they'll be in the area around Roo for Wakarusa.
Do christians hate using a spacebar? Is the devil hiding in the spaces between words?
hah good point.....fuck people i didnt mean to have an official christian tent....just 2 christian bands playing after another in the same tent.....calm yourselves.

This will be my 4th roo....i'll be fine, but thanks for looking out
She has the voice of an angel. Woke up to her singing Amazing Grace in '07. She played with JPJ that weekend too
I was there, but I didn't know who Gillian Welch was at the time. I look back on all the sweet shows i missed in '06 and '07 (saw lots of great ones too) and I vow to learn as many bands before this summer so I don't have any big regrets.
