i actually really dig the whole day long lineup announcement, as long a it works better than it did in 2010. maybe just announce things a bit faster and gives us three bands at once (like a top 4 line band, a middle of the lineup band, and a small band)
I'm a huge nerd, and this is how my posse has decided to learn of the lineup this year:
Lineup release day, we are not going to look at the lineup on the website. Instead, we are going to get in a group chat, and my wife will look at the poster. She will start at the bottom and give us 10 bands at a time. Then we'll spend the next several minutes discussing those artists.
I've found I'm almost always immediately disappointed when I look at a line-up poster in its entirety. Knowing a little bit at a time and building excitement for each part of the lineup you learn wins for me.

Bottom to top is an awesome way to start it. Good thinking. I'm betting a lot of us are in the Turntable room waiting for it. Pretty excited to hear it that way too.

That's kinda cool, but I know I wouldn't have the will power to hold out all day without finding out via friends, twitter, etc.
Yeah my biggest complaint with 2010 was that the release wasn't in any order. Bottom to top would be really exciting because each name we get is bigger than the previous. It was frustrating when we got all of our headliners and were still holding on hopes for another big name.
I still don't expect them to do it because it wasn't exactly well received in 2010
I thought Lollapalooza did it in a pretty cool way a few years ago. It was like a Wheel of Fortune type of puzzle on their website of the lineup but only certain letters in place and each day a new letter would come up until the whole thing was complete. It was fairly easy to figure out pretty early on but was still different and not annoying.

C3 does it right. I remember that one. My favorite was the crossword puzzle for ACL. I can't remember the year though.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I seem to be in the minority who absolutely loved the every-5-minutes 2010 release. I had so much fun sitting in my bed and smoking bowls while checking out new artists that I didn't know and falling in love with them. Then also getting really excited when they announced a band I already knew or loved.
Just don't do it on shitty MySpace again this year

I thought 2010 was exciting, but I had class all day, so I was only able to look at it when I had an hour break. I also didn't even think I'd be going to Bonnaroo that year, but I still really enjoyed it. It was even better when I realized I'd be able to go. Anyway, if the lineup is really supposed to be announced on Tuesday, I'd like the 2010 method again, because I have no class Tuesdays, so it'll give me something fun to do all day
2012 shows: 3/23 - The Men 4/9 - Of Monsters & Men 4/21 - Bassnectar 5/2 - Shpongle 5/22 - Jack White 6/1 - tUnE-yArDs 6/7-6/10 - Bonnaroo 2012 6/18 - Destroyer 6/20 - The Tallest Man On Earth 6/23-6/24 - Governor's Ball

I also preferred the 2010 method. I completely understand why it isn't for everyone, but I have the most boring job in the world and loved learning the bands slowly and researching the ones I didn't know as they came up. From here out, I spend about 80% of my workday thinking about Roo anyway.

2010 was fine for me but I prefer a video. I think the main thing people hated about 2010 was they were expecting Neil Young or some big name like that and when the last name was Stevie Wonder (an act that most of us knew about because of Insider) people felt let down.

Id like to see a mix of a few of yall ideas.
Maybe the way it was release in 2010 but starting @ the bottom releasing a name every 5 minutes. It take a long time to find out the line-up but I like having enough time to look up the people I haven't heard of.

this is exactly what i did, down to the bed and a bowl. I would check out each band on youtube as the names were released.
I'm gonna be on a bus for 3 hours tuesday afternoon, and it has wifi, so it would be an amazing way to spend the bus trip
a streaming video of just back-to-back-to-back live performances from every band with no filler. and just update the site with the last band that played for folks who cant/dont want to watch

i was thinking of something they could do that is creative with the photographs they asked everyone to submit...
a mosaic. music starts and the video begins with a mosaic that makes up the bonnoroo poster/artwork or something bonnaroo related.... but really it's made of thousands of tiny little pictures of people and their bands name. i thought they could organize the bands in clusters so they could zoom in and out of various bands.... and as the names are there we also get to see tons of smiling faces of people stoked to see that certain band.
i just think the whole zooming in and out of a mosaic that depicts bonnaroo artwork would be sweet. bonnaroo, if you are listening, i am down for a job in your marketing department.

How about showing a page 5-10 artists every 10 minutes...with the headliners and top talent at the end? It has the suspense people love without the long time of waiting.

I like the 2010 idea. I remember my phone going crazy as each one came out. It really raised my excitement level to new highs! All at one is cool too but it's like hitting your peak then calming down too quickly. I'd rather peak all day!

In all honesty this has been what I've expected since they did this. We'll see this week.
