Had to log in for this thread. Love it! Thank you! My first phish show was at Bonnaroo in '09, which was also my first Bonnaroo. I was more of a casual fan and didn't mind a few songs here and there. But I fell in love with Phish and with Bonnaroo at the same time. Just the vibe from the crowd, and the band and crowd feeding off of each other was amazing. The music was seamless and went on forever. It gave me the feeling that music never ends; it's always with me. I wasn't in much of an altered state when I caught the second set on Sunday and THEY BLEW MY MIND! I've traveled to several shows since then and consider myself a Phan I really, really think you need to experience Phish live, with an open mind and heart, to "get" them. I didn't have the pleasure of seeing them in the 90s (I was pregnant while my friends were touring. Use condoms, kids!!!) but I think my whole life might have turned out different if I had. Not better or worse, but different. To me, Phish is one of those bands that have that effect. Great thread!

97-98 Phish was awesome, but I've been liking what I've seen of them since 09. I saw some subpar shows in the smacked out 03-04 era. My feeling on 3.0 Phish is that even a so-so Phish show is still better than 98% of other shows I could be at.
1. Go on 6+ hour drive 2. Wait 1 hour 3. Put on Billy Breathes 4. Listen intently for 7 minutes 5. Drift away as you drive 6. Wake up 45 minutes later and ask yourself what the hell happened and where the hell you are
Is that sang on the rail there? No quackin poop. I'm in that gif too. I'm practically right next to sang, directly behind the grey haired guy with the golfer's cap on. I've got on the same hat as in my avatar.
EDIT: Paz is beautiful.

Paz is hot of that there can be no doubt. I have seen her play a couple of times up close and personnal @ A Perfect Circle and with Smashing Pumpkins and if by chance she should ever read this board I will donate her a gallon of premium man seed and tear my soul out upon completion of the act. That is all now can we go back to looking at Paz Pictures and glad to see some of this board shares my taste in women.

We went to my birthday show in Asheville, I still say that one stands out as a great show.
Yeah, that Asheville show was great. I've thought most of the 3.0 shows I've seen have been great, some of them spectacular (7/4/10 I'm looking at you!). There have been a few that were merely good, like night 1 of the Miami New Year's run in 09. Someone in the parking lot the next night asked me how it was, and I replied, "It wasn't the best Phish show ever, but I can't think of anywhere I would have rather been."
I've got a fever, and the only cure is more PHISH!
I stand by my belief that Phish was at their peak from around late Fall 1996 until the Island Tour in 1998. That entire 18 month span was sublime.
And I hate when people are all "oh, yeah, [band x] used to be so great, they're not anymore, you shoulda seen them back in the day," but that's kind of how I feel about Phish. I believe that they're still good at what they do, but the only music of theirs I find listening to on any regular basis these days are shows from that era. I really just liked that sound/style.

Yeah median Phish is better than a lot of other things. 7/4/10 like I said earlier to Juggs stands up to any show I saw in 1.0. Also lets be fair it is not like they never played a mediocre show back then.

Check out the Dicks run from last year (i'm sure you probably have), that's the best 3.0 work IMO
2nd Night of Charleston is really strong too, as is 1/1/11

shows like the dick's show brought to you by the letter S are the reason i love phish. yes i love the songs, i love the jams, i love the individual members as people, but its their unique brand of creativity, or "phishiness", that I love the most.
if i would have been at that show... i would have quacked my poop when they encored with sabotage.
but the best 3.0 experiences i've had have been the festivals. both indio and superball were peak musical experiences for me.
well i say that. being at hampton for the fluffhead was possibly the greatest live music moment i've ever experienced. i can't listen to it without getting teary eyed and shakey.

One of my biggest regrets, along with WSP Athens 2011, is not buying a scalper ticket to Hampton 2009. I'm sure that was an unbelievable experience. I was lucky enough to be at the first return at MSG 2002, and the energy when the lights went down>Piper was something i'll never forget.

The Dicks run was really good, I wish I had made it, certainly some of the best 3.0 work to date.

7-04-10 is in my top 5 shows ever. of any band.
Mikes Song>Harpua>Killing in the name of>Harpua>Weekapaug Groove, then a nasty First Tube for a encore with Jedi Trey....
That was one hell of a show.
Edit for the new Phans
Whenever Mikes Song is played there will be a song or two in between that and Weekapaug Groove. This is called a Mike's groove usually. Harpua is a narration story/song about a boy with a cat named Poster Nutbag and a old man with a bulldog named Harpua that eventually does Poster Nutbag in. The drummer typically sings a one off cover song in between the two parts of Harpua.

Okay Jess. You've brought me over. I really dig both NICU and Tweezer/Tweezer Reprise. I already liked Wilson and Farmhouse and their other stuff like that. Not a big fan of Sample in a Jar or Loving Cup though. What are the next steps accessibility wise?

My wife has always said the same thing. Then at the 6/26/10 show,Merriweather Post Pavilion, it clicked with her when she heard the opening notes to In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.
this video from the hampton reunion always cracks me up. the camera pans around and just shows how happy everyone is. oh to be in that room that night.
