Feel Good Foods and Bearly Edible is recruiting for the 2012 season. Most positions are volunteer slots in our catering operations at various festivals around the country. We also are hiring for a few select positions for people with the proper experience. We will be needing people for Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Del Fest, High Sierra, All Good and many more. Volunteer positions are varied from pre-show, post show, and during the show. Generally speaking 1 hour of work per $10 of the ticket price is required in exchange for a ticket, camping, and meals for the entire event. Example: Wakarusa ticket price of $200 equals 20 hours of volunteer time. A deposit equal to the ticket price is required to ensure completion of hours and will be refunded at the conclusion of the event. If you are interested in applying please go to the following link www.feelgoodfoodswnc.com/Festival_Services.php and go to volunteer programs.

Are you guys the grill cheese guys in the Bonnaroo campground? You saved my life with those things. Not sure if I can afford Roo this year and thinking about the volunteering or a job. What kind of experience are you looking for for the employee spots? Thanks

Yes that is us in the campground. As for experience needed for a paid position, a culinary degree or experience with large scale catering is always helpful if you are looking for a position for the whole season. For Bonnaroo, we need someone with a forklift license and that knows their way around an electric panel for the set up and breakdown of the catering.
I'm very interested in one of the hired jobs, as I have many years of restaurant management and large scale food prep under my belt. Who would I contact?

Stargate fan: After we receive your application, we will contact you and let you know what shifts we have available that fit your work experience. For people that apply early, that usually gives you a pretty good variety of options preshow, postshow, during show etc but as the season goes forward things fill up and your chances of getting that perfect shift will be less likely.

Komodo dragons?? Basically we ask you to be sober during your shift so you are not a danger to yourself or others. What you do on your own time with imaginary lizards is your choice. If you show up to wasted to work, you will be asked to leave for the day and someone else will cover your shift. The person covering your shift will be paid out of your deposit for their extra hours.

Is your license current? Roo is pretty tough about that. Have you ever driven a Lull. It is the outside forklifts you see at Roo that the forks go over the machine and can telescope out. How about any experience doing electrical wiring. This particular position is for a week ahead of time and a week after Bonnaroo. It is a paid position.

Katy Mae - Follow the link from the first post about the positions and click on volunteer programs. It is the same application for either volunteers or jobs. If we feel you have the appropriate experience for a paid position we will let you know.
What if I want to travel the country and work for you in exchange of tickets to the festivals? I'm serious about this. I don't have any experience in this area but I'm willing to learn.

Jorgedz: We had a couple do this last year and they had a great time. Basically how it worked out was that they volunteered every weekend and caught a ride in between festivals with the paid crew. We also provided a $30/day stipend for travel days for your meals and such. When we stayed in hotels, so did they. I will admit though with the schedule we run, hotels don't happen as often as you would think. We usually leave an event on Monday or Tuesday and arrive at the next one the next day and start again. Pay for hours over the volunteer time is a strong possibility. On average last year they each earned an extra $100 a week doing random things like breakdown, set up, or covering other peoples hours. If you are interested in this we will require you to attend the French Broad River festival in Asheville. That is our training and meet and greet weekend for anybody seriously considering coming on for a season.
That sounds great. Could I get more information, like the festivals that you will be in and the dates I would be expected to volunteer in? Would you rather communicating via email?

Southernsmile: The main differences between WET and Feel Good Foods volunteering are hours and food. Generally speaking Feel Good Foods requires a few more hours than WET. But you get paid for those extra hours. Most volunteer obligations are 22-28 hours. You get paid for any hours over 22. We do this because it is much easier for me to do my schedule with adding in a few extra hours than finding more people. That is only for the during show people. Most pre-show and post show people only work their 22 hours. Feel Good Foods also feeds you the entire time you are on site versus 1 meal per shift from WET. Even if you are doing catering prep pre-show you can still eat at our concession stands during the festival. We also provide bottled water for the entire event. This alone can save you a few hundred bucks between water and food. Our deposit system is a little different also. We require 25% up front when you agree to a shift to hold that shift, the remainder is due by April 15th. Hope that answered your question.

Looking for one solid line cook for a the two week catering project and a very experienced dish washer. The application is on our website at www.feelgoodfoodswnc.com - from there go to festival services and then to volunteer programs. These are both paid positions.

Bearly, I am a potential volunteer (filling out the application right now) and I have to say I am very excited for the opportunity; Feel Good Foods sounds like a great organization. As far as the volunteer experience goes, will we be treated the same as WET volunteers (volunteer camping, wristband, free showers, etc.)? Also, how is the pool looking for pre-fest volunteers; do I still have a decent shot? Thanks
Post by bearlyedible on Feb 20, 2012 10:28:21 GMT -5
Yes we do have a couple pre-show spots left. As for the differences between us and WET. WET has a much more diverse line-up of jobs, we are basically kitchen help. WET camps in volunteer camping. With us you camp in Vendor camping. Not sure about the shower thing. I know there are showers in the vendor camping area, I thought they cost money, but I could be wrong. We feed you the entire time you are at the festival versus WET just feeds you while you are on shift. This can end up saving you a bunch of money. BTW - I sent you an email, we have a phone interview on Tuesday.
