Its in Akron, OH which is 30 miles away from Canton, OH. Google search "Canton Bound" and all you get are NFL HOF pages and articles. Gary indicating that there's no correlation with the NFL could also mean that the band or act itself has no correlation with the NFL and not the clue itself.
If you go back to somone who is partially associated with Black Sabbath and "Canton-bound" then I was looking for members of Black Sabbath for a short period of time who play with a potentially HOF bound band....
First name I found was Ian Gillan of Deep Purple who is touring in 2012. Only available roo date is June 9th but they are in the US at that time.
Looks like I was right with the Black Sabbath reference having some relation to a member or song from the band....
garychardonnay Does the second part of the clue have anything at all to do with Black Sabbath or any relation to a song/member of the band?
garychardonnay Gary Chardonnay @ higgybear22 Yes. #rooclues
Maybe Gary's talking about the first post, so Ian Gillam? He played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, so that might fit the ascension part? And according to Wikipedia, good vs. evil (Jesus vs Judas) is part of the plot of Jesus Christ Superstar. I might be reading too far into it at this point.
"Good or evil? Canton-bound. Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath."
"Good or evil?" Heaven and hell.
"Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath." It's a 'revitalized version' of Black Sabbath.
I can't find a connection with "Canton-bound" yet. But I have a feeling it's not about heading toward Canton, but being bound by Canton, preventing something? And the ascension (from being bound by Canton) is linked to the different versions of the Sabbath.

After looking for bands that first got their start covering Black Sabbath or being around Black Sabbath I am going to make a guess here.....
Good or Bad?
To celebrate ten years as a band, Godsmack released a greatest hits album entitled Good Times, Bad Times... Ten Years of Godsmack on December 4, 2007. The album debuted at number thirty-five on the Billboard 200, selling 40,000 copies in the first week of release. It includes a cover of the Led Zeppelin song "Good Times Bad Times"
This led to the band's first headlining tour, "The Godsmack Tour". After the album's release the band went on the road playing club shows as well as playing at Ozzfest and Woodstock '99. This was followed by a tour in Europe supporting Black Sabbath
"Sweet Leaf," from the Black Sabbath album "Reunion (disc 1)" , was covered on the Godsmack album "Awake."

There were a couple of Black Sabbath tribute albums released called Nativity in Black that has many different artists on it. The only problem is I think all of these bands were already well established when they were on these records, but one interesting thing to note is that Megadeth's cover of Paranoid received a Grammy nomination, so maybe that covers the part of "ascension."
I can't find any major bands with Canton on their tour schedule this year, I've checked most of the ticketing websites... any other ideas of where to look? Another thing to keep in mind is how many states have a Canton in them, maybe we are looking at the wrong Canton?
