Holy shiz. that is disrespectful. There are thousands of veterans who probably spit out their coffee.
Sadly, I'm willing to bet there are thousands of veterans who agree with that sentiment.
Someone I grew up with, have been friends with for 20 years, and have always thought to be a hot-headed nut, but a good-hearted one, posted on Facebook "A marine should shoot this dumb motherf*cking enemy of the state in the face right now" during Obama's speech last night. Followed by shit-ton of ignorant and racist nonsense.
I called him on it, and he basically ended our friendship because I voted for Obama.
Crazy people are crazy, it doesn't matter what walk of life they're from.
That's a good way to get a visit from the secret service.

Flanz - you're probably right. Its sad. Ive said through this whole thing, be passionate about your beliefs, but dont throw common sense, tact, and respect out the window.
Its seems they have taken all their flags down now
What do all of these people really think is going to happen?
He never gets into specifics because the only time I hear it is when he's really super drunk and angry but my dad legit believes that because of Obama that we all need to have shotguns and bomb shelters and that we may very soon be protecting our home from all sorts of looters and things. He really thinks there will be anarchy in the streets and all sorts of crazy problems. Like post-apocalyptic stuff.

What I find most ironic about these doomsday folks is that when America was out pissing off the entire planet with its wars and foreign policy in general, none of these mouth-breathers felt unsafe (when anyone with two brain cells in their head did). Now that the country's standing internationally is much more friendly than in years past these same people are now scared for the country's safety.
Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't that ass-backwards?
People were livid last night posting about how Obama is "friends" with France, Russia and China. Aside from the fact that he is not friendly with China, don't we want our President to turn enemies (or frenemies) into allies? Don't we want the President to remedy the issues that have plagued Americans abroad for years?
But no, because Obama shakes hands with Putin (leader of one of the strongest countries in the world and one of the few military threats to the country if it came down to that) he's a terrorist/p*ssy/idiot that's going to bring down the country with his...niceness? I dunno, my head's starting to hurt.
We also decided to keep the death penalty even though it so rarely happens in California and costs us an insane amount of money to pretend we actually have it (ethical issues completely aside).
Did anyone else hate watch Fox News last night to see the differences in coverage?
I watched some on my laptop (no cable), but I did get to see Karl Rove melt down and argue with everyone on the panel about Ohio, which was very satisfying. The dude spent $300 million of other people's money and got them less of a return than the taxpayers got on the Wall St. bailouts.

I had this same thought when I saw a friend's FB post (this was right before I hid him from my newsfeed because of another semi-racist/fully-classist post he made):
Congratulations, America. Your country is in for another 4 years of vulnerability, deficit, and decline. Kiss your Marines and soldiers goodbye, because the first thing Obama does is send them back overseas. Then get ready for that 'unimportant' deficit number to jump up, because he's going to shut down oil production in this country. In 4 years, we will be handing this country over in one hell of a mess to someone else...and if you voted for Obama, you can take all the blame on yourself for all the mess this country falls into inside the next 4 years.
Hasn't Obama been bringing people home? And wasn't it Bush who turned a surplus into a deficit?
It's interesting to see "the other side"'s take, but damned if it doesn't make me scratch my head.
Yeah, the Rove/Ohio sequence was interesting. The consternation in the studio was thick; the argument quickly devolved from "The polls must be skewed" to "The guys on the decision desk must be jumping the gun" to (apparent) shock and disbelief as the reality sank in.
But long after all the major networks called the race you could still find Romney bids on Intrade, which had me just as flummoxed as Rove was.
On Facebook: many of my Christian friends seem to be having trouble accepting God's will this morning.

CNN has bitten into the sensationalism.. I was watching the networks going, "all these folks just have a woody for the next newsflash" (all 3 of 'em). Don't you know guys it's "TOO CLOSE TO CALL" but I'll keep reporting on it. Why would it stop if it worked for them last night?

I love people who talk about the coming socialism in the this country and then talk about moving to Canada or Europe as a response.
I love that almost as much as the people who talk about the poor, poor elderly whose healthcare Mittens was going to rip out from under them. Obama, the guy who gave them all affordable healthcare, is the guy that's going to have all our elderly dying off like lemmings running off a cliff.
Did anyone else hate watch Fox News last night to see the differences in coverage?
Definitely. I got home late after the Gary Clark Jr. show and was a little drunk. Excited about the results and decided to watch Fox News and see them scramble.

They thought it was God's will that Romney win?
It's more like: anytime a kid gets killed or whatever, they console themselves saying, "Well, everything that happens is the will of God...we should accept it and move on." But let Obama get re-elected and suddenly we've clearly defied & angered the Almighty, and the US is bound for hell & brimstone.
Point being: if everything that happens is God's will, then his message last night was "Obama's the President I want. Deal with it."

The only thing that I can blame in all this is a hardcore combination of a mudslinging campaign, Fox News fear-mongering, and Rush Limbaugh hate-spewing. These things are what MY facebook crazies have in common. Every time I have listened to Conservative radio, my mind is blown for thirty minutes and I just start laughing. These people take what is said for church. It is not so far fetched that people are this scared, angry, or depressed when they listen to that garbage every single day without any irony. If people are telling you the sky will fall if Obama is reelected for over a year every single day, you will believe it. We may never understand it, but to them, these things are their reality
Jones, being friends with all these people is your own damn fault.
Small town Texas forced me to be friends with people I probably wouldn't have been friends with elsewhere. It's truly unavoidable. It's fucking Texas horn...

“In the face of unrelenting deceptive advertising funded by giant chemical and processed food corporations to the tune of nearly $50 million, California’s Proposition 37 calling for a simple label on genetically engineered food narrowly lost with 47 percent of the vote," said Kristin Lynch, the Food & Water Watch Pacific Region Director. "
It's hard to fight 50 million dollar push by the food corps to confuse the audience. Also initiatives are at the bottom of a ballot - sometimes people just run down the line and don't pay attention.
