So i met Christopher Owens tonight (the lead singer of Girls, one of the nicest people i've ever met) after their concert tonight. after about 5 minutes of talking, i asked if he knew if they were playing bonnaroo. his response was that it's seem too far ahead in the future to be asked, but if they got asked they would definitely play, so i will send bonnaroo an email or something!
^ i would've thought girls would've been there last year. seemed like perfect timing to me. i'd be surprised if they weren't on the bill this year. if not this year, maybe next. though i guess the same thing could be said about fleet foxes. they should've played years ago.

I don't think the Girls album came out until the Fall, so it wouldn't really be perfect timing.
Also, I don't really think it's "too far in the future" to be asked, is it? Obviously they're not a big band, but we're pretty much a month from lineup announcement.

Yea, unless they end up being a late add, I would think there would've been contact made by now. But its entirely possibly their booking agent is in discussion and they just don't know about it yet, since it isn't finalized.

i don't know. their debut came out in 09 and did pretty well (136 or something on the billboard 200, pretty darn good for a debut if you ask me) but i believe in late 2010 they were sought as one of the bands to watch out for in 2011. hell, that might've even been 2010.
great to hear.....ive heard sci is a lock too, any confirmation on that? ya i know this infos all of the boards somewhere, but im drunk and lazy and excited that phish (and me) will be back at the roo this year

Yes, I would like to know more about this too. I missed SCI last year. Twice.

Hi,
Just saw that Oberhofer made it onto the Coachella lineup.
Saw the band at 4Knots this past summer and have been craving more live shows since. Any chance they have any more dates in the future?
Also, is there any chance we could see them playing Bonnaroo this year?
Thanks a bunch, Ian
Unfortunately, with the way this question is worded, and how the answer says "Tuesday," I think he's responding to the question asking if there will be more live dates, and not if they'll be at Bonnaroo.

Went through and e-mailed / tweeted most of the "ambigious response" acts. Also gonna go through and send some out to some bands we haven't contacted yet. I would assume pretty much all the non-cafe acts are signed by now.
Robert Randolph retweeted me so I think that in addition to what he tweeted before makes him a safe bet to move to confirmed. Also I think Tame Impala and Battles could/should both be moved to confirmed too, those are about as positive of responses as you can get without outright confirming it.
Saw STRFKR tonight in Dallas. They put on a great show, and I asked them afterwards if they would be at Roo this year. Their guitarist said he was 'out of the loop' and didn't know what Bonnaroo was, so I'll take that as a no. Dang.

I don't buy this (not your post but the guy not having heard of Bonnaroo). How could anyone be into or involved in anything music and not at least have heard of the big four fests?

I thought it was weird, too. When I asked he said "Is that a festival or something?" so he had some remote idea of what it was. When I confirmed that he said no. Maybe they're just not playing festivals? I looked at their tour dates and they don't have anything booked past February.

So on Friday I sent e-mails to Danny Brown, Trampled by Turtles, Andrew Bird, Amon Tobin, M. Ward, Neon Indian, Miike Snow, St. Vincent, DJ Shadow and Young the Giant and I also tweeted at Childish Gambino, Robert Randolph, Minus the Bear, Valient Thorr, Jimmy Cliff, Huey Lewis & the News, Flying Lotus, tUnE-yArDs, Dr. Dog, Drive-by Truckers, Fitz & the Tantrums, Ellie Goulding and Mayer Hawthorne.
Only response I got was that tweet from Robert Randolph.
How do you people tweet this to artists? I'm still relatively new to Twitter even though I've been a member since like, 2009. But don't they have to follow you as well to see your tweets? DMs are the same way, they have to follow you, correct?
I ask this because I tried to direct message Amanda Palmer to ask her if she'd be there, and it told me she must follow me in order for me to DM her.

i don't know but that seems kinda weird that an artist of that caliber wouldn't know about bonnaroo. not doubting you or what you were told. they actually played this festival last september in cincinnati called midpoint. kind of like a mini sxsw without the cool atmosphere (though i do live there) and without all the conferences and stuff. i remember a few years ago asking this band if they'd be at bonnaroo (i thought they'd be a good fit and go over well there) but they were just kind of like i've never heard of it. really wish i could remember what band it was. i mean this was years ago and i typically see about 200 bands a year. i wanna say it was great lake swimmers. don't quote me on that though.
So, over the weekend, at the Girls/Real Estate show, my friend asked both bands if they were scheduled to gig at Roo. She said both bands were way cagey about discussing their festival plans. I'll keep pressing though. Get emails out to management and booking agents.
