Rosko you need to listen to the new Mount Moriah, pronto.
Oh yeah, dude. All over it. We got a promo in a few days ago and I've listened to it a good five times already. Really, really excellent. They've definitely taken that next step, and I hope they gain a lot of new fans since the record is being put out on Merge. I know two of the three members in that band (Jenks and Heather both used to work at Schoolkids) and they are good people that deserve success.
And horn, you're totally right, because when I just played it in the record store, my co-worker and I were all "This is the same bassline as "Under My Thumb!" He sounds just like Ray Davies on this song! That's the same melody as Lou Reed's "Hangin' Out!"" So, you're totally right, but I usually have less of an issue with 60s aping than most people. I have no problem with it if it's done well, and these guys do it really well.
Once more before the show tonight. I've found a distinct advantage to living in a city as opposed to a tiny middle of nowhere college town, is that I'll (hopefully) have fewer conflicts at Bonnaroo, but at the same time know the shows I'd really like to see for a second (or third) time.
