I've been listening to these over the past week, as well as some of the Morricone recordings I have, while reading Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. They seem to fit the subject matter/flow/poetry/etc. of the book so perfectly, especially the TWBB soundtrack.
Also, if you read, I highly recommend Blood Meridian. I'm only 2/3rds of the way through and I can already say that it is literally one of the best books I've ever read, although don't say I didn't warn you because it is easily the most brutally violent thing I've ever read as well. Not exactly for the meek.

Redman's Meth if you like mccarthy and want an equally brutal/chilling book, read the road next. I read it not long after becoming a father and shiz gave me anxiety attacks in the middle of the night for weeks.
ben nichols, the lead singer from Lucero, wrote his first solo album ("the last pale light in the west") as a concept album inspired by Blood Meridian.

Judge Holden may be the most frightening antagonist I've read in a book. And I agree with snowmanomura, The Road is an amazing book.

Already read it, and I loved it. Literally the only book I've ever read in one sitting. I can see where reading it as a father would be very unsettling. I think I might go for No Country For Old Men next since I loved the movie so much, and I've heard that the book is just as good if not better. McCarthy is just a master of prose. I find myself reading some of the passages over and over again just because they're so damn perfect. He is like the Nick Cave of literature or maybe I should say that Cave is the Cormac McCarthy of music.

i love all the pretty horses for the prose. it's not my favorite story, but I love the way he writes it.

I'm probably gonna try to read all of his stuff. Seems like a good goal to have.
