Are you talking about Swans in general or The Seer specifically? Because, no, The Seer isn't a "floor"-er... it's a great album, but not as great as My Father Will Guide Me... That one is a modern classic, in my books.
That said, they're one of my favorite bands still putting stuff out, and I think the album is better than 90% of what I hear anymore and easily one of my top picks for the year. I've never really known you to be into that type of music, and you seem like the type of person that tries to listen to just about everything.
Essentially, do you not dig Swans or is it just an isolated incident with this album? To me, it seems that The Seer is getting more widespread acclaim than the last album did... I don't necessarily agree, but I still quacking love it. Only real issue I have with it is the same issue I have with most decent double albums... just too damn long.
