I was also confused by the fully integrated part. I think that meant being equipped with lady parts to handle bear sausage but I didn't want to get so invested in figuring this out that I buy the book.
He didn't die, so I guess he did know what he was talking about.
I'd love to go watch the running of the bulls live from the top of a building or out of a window. I never understood the people that run in it but I guess it's a cultural thing. People do weird shit everywhere.
Does Hulu offer any shows from AMC? We've been paying by the episode for new episodes of shows like Justified, Louie, and Fargo. For whatever reason, I assumed they wouldn't be offered on Hulu.
We do Netflix and Amazon Prime. We use Netflix a lot more for streaming, but the Amazon Prime free shipping is really nice, and they recently added a bunch of the HBO shows, so we are rewatching The Sopranos right now. Like I said, there are a few shows we've been paying for (usually a little under $2 per episode, and there are generally 1 or 2 shows we are paying for at any given time, although right now, there aren't any), but we haven't missed cable at all so far, and we watch a lot of tv.
i am could totally be making this up, but i thought i was talking to a friend (in real life) that said live sports and AMC were the biggest things they were missing when they got rid of cable. apparently AMC is a turd about their episodes and don't even upload them to THEIR website till at least a day after the episode airs on tv.
That sounds right. Also, after like the first one or two episodes of the season, you can only access the ones on the AMC website if you actually have a cable subscription, so those are basically useless to me. I think FX is the same because all the shows I have been paying for were either on AMC or FX.
I'm running for state representative seat in the upcoming election. However, as I'm a Green and not a Democrat or Republican - I need to petition to get on the ballot. And I've got a bit too much social anxiety to be running around town asking strangers on the street to sign my form. So I'm wondering how in the hell I'm going to get 90-100 signatures in the next four weeks - especially if I'm out of state nearly every weekend before the deadline.
I know people who can possibly help me, but I'm assuming they won't. Take for example my uncle, who is the chair of the Republican town committee. Politically active, knows a bunch of people, is in my town. Should of asked him for help the other day, and I chickened out - cause we don't agree on much anything. Not sure if it was even worth the trouble asking. Wasn't I using this political stuff to get past the anxiety issues? God I suck at this.
I know this may sound overly critical, but (1) you don't have the stones to get 100 people to sign a piece of paper and (2) you can't even commit enough time to do it.
What makes you think you can adequately represent people in government if you can't even do those 2 things? You'd be facing significantly more complicated and anxiety-inducing tasks if you ever got elected, let alone the stress from actually running a campaign.
Edit: As an aside, I do think its pretty damn cool that you're even considering this. And I hope that you actually pull it off.
I like to help, I'd like to make a difference in the world. I think I have some good ideas which would benefit others. I'm just not the best in terms of being a people person. I would like to believe I'm a hell of a lot better than I used to be, as recently as a few years ago.
I'm basically doing this (this year) for a learning experience, I doubt I could actually win. If I can reach 10% (which shouldn't be too hard, as there's no Republican running) - I'd be eligible for state funding in 2016, which is near impossible now. It certainly would help if the seat ever became open in 2016 via incumbent retirement.
In other news, the participants in the Song Title thread just strung together 37 songs sharing the word "sex" without repeating. Well done, errybody. Beats the old record of the jfg108 era of "jesus" at ... 19 in a row, iirc.
My friend apparently walked his girlfriend back to camp after Flaming Lips this year and then went back to centeroo to see Darkside. Am I expected to do shit like that to be a "good boyfriend" ? (Remember, it's like 2AM and your feet are probably throbbing. And your girlfriend is an adult.).

An even better boyfriend would do whatever he needed to make sure his girlfriend didn't miss Darkside's amazingness.

Feeling really down on myself tonight... Asked this girl I like if she wanted to see phish with me tomorrow and she turned me down. An old friend of mine got engaged (feels like all my friends are, meanwhile I haven't been in a "real" relationship since 2009, haven't been on a date since January). I'm 27 making $400 a week living with my mom, no college degree or any direction.. Ugh. Hating myself.

Never too late to start redrawing your own map :-) Hugs.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Maybe she really doesn't like Phish?
She does. Said it was too short notice, but she was clearly just being polite =\

I left Darkside early because my boyfriend was basically asleep on his feet and just wasn't as into them as I am.
Sacrifices and all that jazz. He gave up a few sets for me and I gave up some for him.

I was trying to make you laugh I know it's hard to when you're feeling way down, but even a small chuckle does help.
I think LLL means that do what you feel you need to, live your life as best you can, look for a new job maybe, go to school for something that interests you?, pursue any other avenues you have available to start changing your life, if you are unhappy. You're 27, a great time to make changes. You aren't in a relationship or tied to a mortgage so you do have lots of freedom to go in different directions. Just spitting out some of the pluses here.
