You guys must be talking about some obscure and so far unsolvable math problems, because I'm pretty sure everyone has read the guidelines on what is cool to discuss and what is not cool to discuss on this very open, public, and likely-monitored-by-the-DEA message board. Math, right? Math is pretty awesome, but really good math is hard to find. At least around here.
I know I push the limit a bit but here is my convoluted thinking: I always throw out the word LEGAL and I am. Most are not I realize that, so is it like a half-lie, a white-lie . when I look at that rabbit hole white line and ask "Should I cross it?" Ok, sounds like totally segue: In most states, same sex marriage is not legal. I think it would be sad we could not discuss same sex marriage "because it is against the RULES" in most states. I am a sheep if I have to be to play the game so I follow the rules. On another board I go to, you cannot discuss anything that has to do with trading money for anything even "goods and services". You can not sell things, not even concert tickets. You cannot post anything that has a corporate logo. They never say Target, WalMart, Costco, etc but each business has it's own little anti-corporate word. I think that is by choice, not by application or mod monitoring but I'm not sure. It's their goofy board and so be it. I had an info board for Vegoose and I honestly forget if "corn" rules were info rules. Maybe forgetting that is an example of why I might need to switch to cream corn and not corn on the cob cuz we are suppose to be cooking food so to speak and not our brains. Geez ramble on (Zep) but again RULES. We now need to go hybrid so not pure Zep but pretty good .... cr****
The Sex Lives of Cannibals The Constraints of Desire: The Anthropology of Sex in Ancient Greece Vampires and Other Blood Myths
well, maybe a little nerdy, I suppose
Is that 1st one the one by Malinowki? If so, it was called the Sexual Lives of Savages in my day and I still have my copy from 30 odd years ago. I ldon't remember the Trobriand Islanders being cannibals, though. But it's really one of those things like murder or having sex with your mother. You do it once and you earn the label for life.
Went to my neighborhood hippie emporium today to check out their tapestries because they recently got some new ones in. Definitely going to get one tomorrow, but I can't decide which one I like more. What say you, inforoo?
Just the packaging on this one, but I like the design.
This one was on display outside. Really like the colors in this one, probably the leader in the clubhouse right now.
I think there's no question that I have way more fun hiding the eggs and watching them find them, than they do actually hunting for them.
This is a few years ago now, but not that long. I took my kids up to their Aunts for an Easter Egg hunt. The Aunt filled plastic eggs with coins and candy. All of the kids found what seemed to me like a zillion eggs. They couldn't open them up until all of the eggs were found and we all gathered around the living room to see the goodies (and make sure it was at least close to equal).. She put 5 dimes, 2 quarters, and 1 Eisenhower (nope) dollar in each egg. What she didn't realize was she had picked up the wrong jar of coins and all of the coins were silver I had to look up the values, but at today's silver prices that would be $45 yikes!!! and even back then it was over $5 .......She just smiled ......I love my relatives even though I don't show it much ... cr****

How long do you guys think Jesus's d*ck was? I mean, he's f*cking Jesus, obviously his father wouldn't give him a pencil d*ck That thing had to be thick and long as hell, no?

I would say average length for someone from that region. But, then again, he did convince a prostitute to marry him, so he must know how to do a few things right.
Speaking of Jesus, I'm watching The Bible in preparation for The Walking Dead season finale and they are mutilating Jesus. It is disgusting that I'm sure thousands of children are watching this right now. Shouldn't we be learning from our past and not trying to perpetuate it? "His" teachings were great, but so are numerous other identical religious figures who all have the same message (because they are all derived from the same general story). It is crazy that kids need to have nightmares and feel intense guilt for their part in the killing of Jesus. It's a horrible lesson to indoctrinate into children that they are somehow responsible for this man being tortured and killed.
Don't get me wrong, though, it's a good dramatic story. Other great cinematic scenes, such as the execution scene in Braveheart, take a lot of notes from it. But it's not something a child should feel involved in or view.
I never really trusted charity, as too much of it goes into overhead and very little gets to what is actually said to be supported by it.
In my "home city" of Worcester, Mass. - six firefighters died in a warehouse in 1999. Charities set up to help the families of the victims raised a few million. And then you read in the papers about mismanagement of money, squabbles over who was supposed to get it, how much there really was, etc...
Then you read about Hurricane Katrina, and how New Orleans was ignored.
And then I saw firsthand in Rockaway Queens, a few weeks after Hurricane Sandy. FEMA is barely existent there, and mostly telling people how to make insurance claims. American Red Cross, barely there and barely helping people. The only ones were around were volunteers (many of which were Occupy Sandy) and disaster capitalist types.
I'm more into mutual aid than just throw some money at it charities.

Went and got that one today. Have it hanging between my living room and kitchen just so I can look at it. Will eventually be covering my bedroom window though, and then coming to Roo with me.
I made a bed like this when i was pregnant. I piled all our pillows on the bed (15 or so) raising it up but leaving a hole in the middle so i could sleep on my stomach. I loved it for the few minutes before i had to adjust.

When I pulled into work this morning, there were two ducks humping in the middle of the drive and three others watching. They wouldn't move when I honked. Today is going to be weird.

I had a dream that Inforoosters were all staying in a big hotel. (I think it was supposed to be the week leading up to Bonnaroo?) mayonaise booked me a room on the floor with all of the healthy people that exercise and run. She said it was so we could all get up and exercise together without disturbing the other Inforoosters that didn't want to get up early. ??? You must have me confused with chicojuarz!
Went out to the bars with a few coworkers on Saturday. Two of them returned to one apartment together in the very early hours of Sunday morning. The awkwardness at lunch is going to be palpable, I'm beyond excited.

I totally see where youre coming from on the brutality of it... but I think that was just kinda the whole point. Im sure a lot of kids grow up in sunday school and already know the end of the story, so the crucifixion isnt as real or powerful to them because the already know that there is a happy ending.
Crucifixion was one of the most brutal ways to be executed. If you're to believe that Christ was the son of God then you would have to imagine he knew how brutal his death would be, yet he accepted it because he knew it was the plan. Had he been beheaded or stoned to death, it may not have had the same impact on the Jews/Romans.
I do agree that its unfortunate that many kids who grow up in religious homes have to see these scenes at (most likely) a very early age and (most likely) feel intense guilt about it... but part of the story is that the resurrection was more powerful/important than the crucifixion. As in, he didnt just conquer death, he conquered the most gruesome death possible at that time.
I think watching him brutalized and humiliated made his followers and non-believers alike at the time, doubt whether he was who he claimed to be...only to have him conquer it days later. DRAMA.
EDIT: (Im not trying to be preachy...I just have a lot of questions/doubts and my own issues with Christianity and faith in general, so I enjoyed watching the Bible series with my wife, who is a very strong Christian who grew up in church and in christian school/university. She knew the stories as we watched them like I would know the Star-Wars movies if we watched them together.)
Faith is a personal thing, one that I go back and forth on (and have since high school) but the historical side of the bible is very interesting to me.

No, but I do know the book you're talking about. I never read it. LOL, to the rest, billy. Word.

HAHAHAHAHAAHA! Girl, at this point, I shouldn't be on that floor either! Also, you KNOW I dont do anything healthy on vacation! And a hotel = vacation. Don't fret my pet, I'll never expect you (or anyone) to exercise if we're in a hotel together. <33333333
