^We just had Eminem as a headliner, what's with the prayer?
They are annoying, their fans are annoying, their shows are annoying, their songs are annoying, their hypocrisies are annoying...
r is annoying, his posts are annoying, his negative comments about everything related to Bonnaroo are annoying, his picture below his name is annoying...
I would love a Rage show. Infact, that was my Friday prediction in the 2012 thread. Next year is an election year, so I bet they do something. They'll wanna make a statement. If they did come out of retirement, it wouldn't be the first time. So ya never know.
And yes, if Tool and KOL are headlining material, RATM is definately worthy of a headlining spot. The crowd energy would be crazy!

Rage would head line and I would be afraid. I saw them at Lolla when they headlined there. I was told by some one they would "gouge my eyeballs out and gut my mother."
I know I am probably just getting older, but "with the new crowd bonnaroo attracts" I am sure there would be mayhem in the campgrounds and throughout the late night. RATM just does things to people that other bands don't, mainly bring us all back to junior high or high school when we were all a little pissed off at the man. I think it is too much of a liability to book them, but I guess that's what everyone said when Metallica headlined.

You're definitely right. Just like this year, when all the homeboys came just to see Eminem and Lil Wayne and to do hood rat shit with their friends. I saw a few carjackings on the way out Sunday night.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

lol. Well said. I saw Rage at Vegoose in 07 and it was waaaay crazier than at Lolla 08. At Vegoose people trampled the 15 foot tall fence near the bathrooms because there were lines, and then people started pissing everywhere. The cops on horseback nearby just moved back about 10 feet. I'd love for there to not be lines for bathrooms in Centeroo next year.

There might not even be any portos in centeroo if rage headlines. They will probably just burn them all and steal your first born for sacrificing.
Too far?
On a serious note, a similar thing did happen at Lolla. Reports very on the number, but a large group of fans outside the fest broke down the barricades when they hit the stage and bum rushed in. It was like a tsunami. There was a surge forward, then a surge back. As much as I would LOVE to see them again, roo might be the wrong place.

I don't remember that from Lolla, but I was so drunk that it's not surprising that I don't remember it.

Dumb asse$ will be dumb asses, regardless of whose on stage.
The Voodoo, Coachella, Reading performances etc. went by with little incident. Basically don't always believe what you hear. The surge sounds like a lot of fun though...

I don't think there would be much damage done at all, and think they put on a fine show at Bonnaroo. Most people feed off the positive vibe on the farm, and destruction isn't really something that most people feel compelled to summon.

It's the positive vibes combined with the 100 degree heat. Kinda hard to riot when the last thing you wanna do is stand next to a burning fire. I think if people did "tear down the gate", they would be exhausted by the time they actually got to Centeroo. Picturing a giant angry mob rushing the stage, and deciding on the mist tent instead.
I have never even seen a fist fight in all my years at Bonnaroo, but now we're predicting riots because one band shows up? Come on people

THIS ^^^
AND YES
+1 on both counts. Didn't people say the same about Metallica. When Bonnaroo books a metal or hard rock act, some people need to relax and recognize Bonnaroo is not going to turn into Ozzfest.

the one thing I hated about seeing RATM at Woodstock 99 was at the end of their show, they burned an American flag. Not sure how that would play out at Bonnaroo....

those same fans that were going all crazy back then at the democratic national convention riots, and woodstock 99.... they are now ugly fat hard working americans in their mid 30's and 40's that are too tired and burnt out to riot.
i've seen rage twice in the past two years, both times in los angeles, and the crowd was mellow for rage's standards. worse thing that happened was a fire pit. the mosh circles were nothing short of organized respectful concert chaos.
i'd say the real danger lies with people pressing up against rail, if the crowd is involved enough you could really get pinned up there--- but with a massive venue like the what stage and the extra security of having a closed pit area--- i dont think bonnaroo has anything to worry about.

FYI, all ye naysayers!: I was never a fan of their recorded work, had a few friends in high school who repeatedly tried to hip me to them. Way too much one-note anger for my tastes. Fast forward to Halloween weekend 2007 in Las Vegas, Sunday night of Vegoose, Rage Against the Machine are closing the festival. It was one of those fortuitous alignments of events you could not possibly plan, where it does indeed seem as tho the universe has smiled on you, for which you will be eternally grateful... Vegoose had a sports bar set up with a bunch of big screen plasmas and Sunday night was game 4 of the 2007 World Series, Red Sox vs. Rockies. Having grown up in Massachussetts, you know I had to be there to see the Sox sweep and claim their 2nd championship in 4 years. The synchronous timing was almost ludicrous, I just looked it up on Wikipedia: Papelbon threw the final out at 9:06, Rage took the stage at 9. So according to the setlist I found online, I likely walked out of the bar awash in the euphoria of victory, into the crowd, just as the band launched into "Bulls on Parade". I don't think I've ever gone to a show with so much adrenalized energy coursing through my body. And Rage not only sustained it but amplified it to the point where I was literally head banging. It must have looked almost comical, I remember nearly smashing my head into the ground and then launching myself into the air on the downstroke. (All way out of character for me.) That show was amongst the best I've ever seen, and they certainly made me a true believer for life...
