I don't go to too many punk shows anymore, but I'd love to see Flogging Molly at Roo. Rancid would be fun. Not the biggest Stooges fan (sorry, world) but I'd love to see them or just Iggy at Roo... actually I can't think of a better chaotic environment to see him/them.
You might not consider this punk, but I would kill to see either the Buzzcocks or Gang of Four at Roo. Gang of Four was friggen AMAZING when I saw them a few years back. Also saw Rocket From the Tombs do a one-off maybe 7 years back and it was really good, so either that or a regular Pere Ubu set would rule. I'd like to see Leatherface but I dunno if they have enough of a following for Roo.
Anybody seen Cocksparrer lately? They were one of my favorite bands of all time, but I don't wanna see them if they're lame...I've seen some depressing reunion shows from some of my favorite bands.
Dream reunions for me would probably never happen... Naked Raygun, Hot Water Music.

^ mizvalentine knows what's up. Great suggestions! Saw Naked Raygun 50 times in my teens. They regularly re-unite but rarely play outside the Chicagoland area. What a pipe dream though. Could actually see Gang of Four, Mission of Burma or Hot Water making the trip.
I can't explain it actually. I've really given them a lot of listening and my better half LOVES them...I wanna like them! I do like some Iggy solo stuff. They just never hit that exciting part of my brain, you know? I feel the same way about the Velvets. I feel like I should like em, but... it just doesn't click for me.
That said, I think the Stooges would be a blast live. I love a balls out frontman and Iggy's the gold standard in that department!!

50 TIMES!!? I am sooooo jealous!! What a great freaking band Naked Raygun is/was. The live LP is one of my favorite live records of all time, the energy is freaking fierce.
Burma is a GREAT call, that would be incredible. I forget that the whole world loves them, not just us here in Boston! While we're talkin Boston bands... DMZ would be pretty amazing, and/or the Lyres. Though I guess both bands probably have a much bigger following in Europe at this point.

I'd love to see The Stooges. I was watching an Iggy documentary a while back and someone on the video described him as a piece of twisted steel. He's 64 years old and if you're reading this he could probably kick your ass.

Gah. I know what I'm pulling out tonight. As wll as some Crime.
A DMZ fan? I knew I liked you!! Apparently there's a new DMZ vinyl comp of rarities out in Europe, I'll find out from whom...Its got Connolly on the cover in his orange painted glasses (he used to spraypaint the inside of his sunglasses and play the set that way).
I'm playing with JJ's new project Thee Cuban Heels next month...really great band.

Gah. I need to hear that! Let me know how it goes. Or if you know if any of the guys from SS Decontrol are still rocking it these days.
Springa from SSD is an old friend of ours He's out in Chicago now, has a band called Springa's Sonic Droogs (heh) that play out a lot out there. Dunno about the rest of those guys...Did you see the American Hardcore movie? Worth seeing if you haven't...there's a really great 'reunion' scene with Springa and Al.
As far as the DMZ dudes, Lyres still play in Boston quite a bit and are every bit as good as they ever were (IMHO). JJ's new band has a CD out I believe, I'll post back if I can find the info on how to get it.
A surprising number of the great punk/garage bands from Boston still play from time to time...in the past several years I've seen reunions/shows from Gang Green, The Real Kids, Jerry's Kids, Last Stand, Band 19, DMZ, Lyres, Neighborhoods, Slapshot, Anal Cunt, The Freeze, Outlets, Mung, Mission of Burma, Sam Black Church, The Dogmatics, Barrence Whitfield and the Savages, The Prime Movers, The Slaves... everybody seems to be still cookin around here in one form or another.
The whole line up is super solid. Geno Washington w/ Mick Collins, Sonics, Real Kids, Reining Sound, 5,6,7,8's ... All for $100 for 4 days. The Mighty Hannibal? Andre Williams? Gah.
It's the hotel that gets me. Plus my anniversary is like 2 weeks before.

NYC, great tunes...sounds like a perfect anniversary present!!
You'll laugh, but my folks have stayed at the Williamsburg Y and its not horrible, from what I hear (warning, this was several years ago now). I've also stayed in a couple hostels that aren't bad. Its the bedbugs that scare me, more than the prices.
Mighty Hannibal shooed me out of his dressing room in New Orleans once. I was honored. The man is amazing. Reeeeeeally excited to check out Dave Baby Cortez, I love those records, I'm ashamed to say I didn't think he was still alive.
I wish they'd add Magic Christian to the bill, those guys are phenomenal.
