Nice. I'm going to try to watch the free global livestream of that show if I can figure out how Apple Music will be broadcasting it.
My only concern is my ticket is GA, which will be admitted after "priority" tickets on a first-come-first-serve fashion. I have to work tomorrow, and I don't wanna wait all day long and turned away on the door. Well, I think it's worth.

Dress appropriately.
Oh, I will put my Fred Flintstone costume for sure.

Here's a big one: Daniel Johnston
Daniel Johnston has announced his final set of live dates. This fall, Johnston will play shows backed by bands that “he has influenced,” in cities distinct to those artists. For example, Jeff Tweedy & Friends will join Johnston in Chicago. He also has concerts with Built to Spill in Portland and Vancouver, the Preservation All-Stars in New Orleans, and the Districts and Modern Baseball in Philadelphia. For each show, Johnston’s backing band will create the setlist, and each night will begin with a screening of the 2005 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston. Find the full itinerary below. Johnston’s last release was 2012’s Space Ducks, the soundtrack for his comic book and iPad video game of the same name.
Daniel Johnston:
09-28 New Orleans, LA - The Joy Theatre ! 10-04 Philadelphia, PA - Tower Theater @ 10-20 Chicago, IL - The Vic Theatre $ 11-08 Portland, OR - Revolution Hall % 11-10 Vancouver, British Columbia - Venue Nightclub %
! with the Preservation All-Stars @ with the Districts and Modern Baseball $ with Jeff Tweedy & Friends % with Built to Spill and others

Only tickets I ever won were System of a Down a decade ago. But tbh not sure I'd be able to top that.

At the Woodlands? I was at that show. The crowd was not enthused about TMV.
I saw that tour in MN and I had no idea who TMV was and it was really weird watching it when you have no idea what's really going on. It's tough to appreciate their sound from far away and not knowing their songs in a stadium lol.

Turned away at the door...when you already have a ticket? Are they selling more tickets than they have capacity for?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Since it's a giveaway, I think they give more tickets than the capacity of the venue. And that's why I need to go early to get in line and wait.
Does anyone know of the !!!/Algiers show in Dallas was cancelled? On the Club Dada calendar instead of of a link to buy tickets there is the phrase "off sale" and the Dallas date is no longer on the bands website.

Maybe they got booked at Day for Night?
It's doubtful that's the reason since they are still playing in Houston, San Antonio & Austin.

tbf, they played 4 songs in the daylight with an extended flute solo before a gnarly metal show. (it was outdoors for those who don't know the woodlands)
How the hell are people always winning concert tickets all the time? I want in on this action.
Every time I win something it's something that I'm not able to make it to.
When I was around 14/15 and just starting to go to shows, but had no money, I won tickets to a few of my earliest gigs by being the (x number) caller into local radio stations. It's probably easier than you think to win tickets that way.
The coolest tickets I won were were for my first ever festival, a one-day event where I saw Outkast, The Strokes, Tenacious D, Public Enemy, and a bunch of others of increasing embarrassment (Jimmy Eat World, Sum 41, Timo Maas, Our Lady Peace). I won a few other non-concert tickets that way, too - a couple movie premieres, plus a Superbowl watch + meet and greet with the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, the two radio stations that funded most of these teenage misadventures (WBCN & WFNX) are no more.

Fully agree, that would absolutely be a strange introduction to them.

Omar and Cedric just didn't give a fuck, they were going to play the set they wanted to play!
2004-2006 Mars Volta really was something special. Think I saw them 3 times in that era? Were you at their show at the Verizon Wireless theatre downtown? Probably 2004-2005? That was my first Volta show. Still get chills when I hear a line in Cygnus during which Cedric and I locked eyes.

Yes, I'm a Volta fanboy.
I did not, unfortunately, see them before or after that, same with System (saw Antemasque though lol). That show was the first concert I went to that was both my choice, and without supervision, as well as my first date. Seeing both of them again would be just wonderful.
Would love to see the Volta again. Glad I saw ATDI this year to knock them off the list, but I like Volta 100x more.
Saw them in NOLA in '05 and yes, they were something super special then. My friend saw them in '01 or '02 at the 40 Watt in Athens during their very first run of shows. He was an ATDI superfan and knew to be there. I had no clue about them till a friend played Deloused a year later at my house and my face melted off.
Really wish I could have seen a headlining show during the Amputechture era. Saw two Bedlam shows, the Bonnaroo Octahedron show and a tiny Omar 'solo' show in NOLA with Volta roadtesting their future album.
Missed Antemasque, saw Bosnian Rainbows @ FFF. Didn't quit 'get' Teri Genderbender then, but she really got her schtick down opening for ATDI this year. That chick f'n rules.
Def time for Volta to get back together. I figure it'll be next year or so.

If you like Phoenix you should do it. Their show is a very fun singalong dance party. It's not gonna wow anyone who is incredulous of the band already but I had a great time.
