Would go see Slayer again if they played NOLA. Not going any further than that though. Saw them at Mayhem Fest in ATL '12. Was like 2nd row for Motorhead and Slayer then got further back for Slipknot who were also awesome. The first band was As I Lay Dying, I think. The band with the singer that got caught hiring the hitman to kill his wife.
Anyone ever seen a band named The Queers? Going to see them Fri. Never heard of them until last night.
I saw the Queers like 5 years ago or so. Thought they sucked. Aging generic punk shit. Like, if you can get into the Vomit Spots or stuff like that live then you'll enjoy it though.
There was literally nothing to it. I didn't pay to get in so I wasn't upset.

I tried to go see them in Pensacola last Friday, but I ate too much fucking sushi and slept until like 11:30. They date back to the hardcore era but weren't around in the South back then much. Then last night half the dart team was sick or MIA forcing me to stay for the duration and not being able to get out in time to see Sleep.
--------------------------------
Lol about the Vomit Spots. I remember when they first came out with Nina Haagen-Dazs back in like 85 or so. Those guys were all from Mobile, but I saw someone with a shirt on the other day and they told me they all live here now. First time I saw them was opening up for DC3 (Dez Cadena of Black Flag and Misfits rock band), and nobody was there but like 5 people. I had a good time. Joe Pestilence from Legion of Decency out of Gulfport, MS was another cool punk legend from back then. I don't know what ever happened to him, but LxOxDx was one of my favorite bands. Joe was an early version of a troll and used to have me in tears with some of his work. He once told us that he was keeping the rednecks at bay after telling them Virul Nihils meant we praise satan in Arabic and they all wanted to fight us. Hahahaha. Fucker.
4/06 - Asheville 4/07 - Asheville 4/10 - Jackson, MS 4/11 - St. Louis 4/12 - Urbana 4/13 - Milwaukee 4/14 - Minneapolis 4/17 - Des Moines 4/19 - Lawrence 4/20 - Mulberry Mountain (Backwoods Fest) 4/21 - Tulane Crawfest!!!!! <---- fucking right 4/22 - Atlanta, GA 4/25 - Chattanooga 4/26 - Lexington 4/27 - Louisville 4/28 - Indianapolis
Crawfest is pretty great. It's a daytime thing at Tulane University where you pay like $10.00 for all the crawfish you can eat and get to watch rock and jam bands all day. No lights unfortunately which kind of sucks for PapaD because their light shows are usually part of the show. But last spring when I saw them was probably the best set of theirs I'd seen since Wakarusa 2:00am 2014.

My cousin told she's going and I said I've never heard of them and she said she hasn't either. Apparently a friend of her's husband is in a band that's opening for them. I listened a little last night and thought it might be fun.

Esteban: Yea, I'm pretty sure at least Al lives over there. I was next to him at Helmet at OEJ several years back. They had just come out with a new album that was a cool puke splatter vinyl with Lindsey Kuhn artwork. He was from Mobile as well but is based out of Denver. He's done a ton of rock posters since the early 90's.
Never heard of Legion of Decency. Did you ever hear/see Mutant Speed, Sucking Diction or Loppybogymi (sp)? They were all from Mobile late 80's/early 90's.

Pretty stoked for the Orange Peel show, but most of those venues seem too small for The Flaming Lips (including the Orange Peel).

the # of conservatives between Houston, Austin, and Dallas could be described as 'a shit load' so idk.

Haven't purchased tickets via TM or LN in a bit, but fuck me. TDE Tour tickets for the lawn in Tampa are $27, but after fees jack up to $52. Maybe there's a way to buy hard copy tickets somehow...

We have a few venues here that if you purchase at the box office, you don't have to pay fees. To me, that is worth the incentive to make the trip to the actual box office. I have only bought once or twice in the last two and half years through TM or LN; and while I know my boycott isn't hurting them, it makes me feel better. I also try to buy directly through the band instead, which has worked out a few times for me. Good luck and fuck TM and LN.

if you go to a physical ticketmaster box office you still pay the fees. its essentially just some jabroni going to the site and buying them for you.

I've had some luck buying tickets at the box office before, I'll give that a shot if possible. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

The Civic (for example) has a ticket office and if you buy there, you are not charged TM fees. It is something that they boost about on their event pages. They aren't the only one; We have a couple venues that have that option here. That was what I was suggesting, of course Ticketmaster's box office is going to charge you Ticketmaster fees, silly.

Had the same problem trying to buy for the West Palm show. Such a fucking joke. I'm just not going to go.

There's a couple venues in Boston where you can get fee free tickets at the box office. However I'm not sure what applies to where the Kendrick and Friends show is.

Maybe I'll just swing by there after work today.
