That would be utterly macabre for Jho. Jho, I hope Prince plays glasto and all your wildest dreams come true over there. I hope he comes back to play again next year at Roo too.
Also, very disheartening waking up to sad news on facebook that people didn't get tickets I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending positive vibe that something works itself out and those who want to go can. Why/how did it sell out so fast?!
Did not get a ticket I think group purchasing was good in theory, but just complicated things in the end. I may try again in April, but will most likely have to wait until 2014 now. Not sure what I'll do instead, but I already have tickets for Coachella and plan on doing Newport again.
I posted that when I thought everyone was getting tickets... I honestly feel bad now Druid was busting a$$ trying to get the tickets for the remaining people but the servers were just not having it.
I am rather upset that everyone that planned to come wasn't able to get tickets. I want to be happy and excited, but knowing my friends are unhappy doesn't make that easy. As Druid said, this is bittersweet.

If Prince is at Roo, I will be slightly bummed, but I will be super happy for you guys, too! Glastonbury is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I feel really blessed to be able to go. So, if he plays Roo, I won't be upset because I am able to have this incredible opportunity, and I won't let a single artist at Roo bring me down.

I am not bothered by not being able to get tickets this time. I didn't put a lot of effort into it (maybe had 10 tabs open), but was trying the most near the end. I did try inputting a few peoples info when I got to the screen, but it kept freezing up or timing out until it sold out.
I could have pulled off going to Glastonbury, but I have other plans next year also. I will say that ticketmaster definitely handles ticket selling better, but this is a demand issue with Glastonbury. I am pretty sure there are well over 135000 people wanting to get tickets as soon as it goes on sale.
There is no way around it, not everyone will get tickets, so if you do, you are privileged and need to make it happen.
It's worth it. Congrats to the lucky few who made it.

Regarding second hand tickets, everyone is registered with your picture and it's printed on your ticket. The tickets are closer to currency paper than a normal cardstock ticket. There is no scalping unless you can look like someone else and have their id when going through the gates.
There is a second and third chance on getting tickets in April from people who decide to bail. Essentially right now you are paying for a reservation for a ticket and you have to payin February. If you don't pay you get refunded and your ticket goes up for sale. It's not a big deal if you're in the UK, but from the USA, the chances are slim and it's much harder to plan.
They do have the best registration policy for tickets since scalpers are eliminated, they just don't have servers that can handle the demand of the onsale.
See Tickets is just flat-out awful. Thankfully most festivals offer alternatives in ticket buying, I'm not sure why Glast still uses them.

Honestly, outside of getting rid of the traditional ticketing system in general, I don't see how any company could handle it any better. There's twice the demand for the amount of tickets there are, and everyone knows it, so everyone is on there right when tickets go on sale. There isn't a fair/easy way to handle it.

and that goes for this too. The best servers in the world won't solve the simple fact that many people simply won't get tickets for this event, because not enough tickets exist.

I agree with that to an extent but I've been watching every major UK festival move from See to Big Gigantic and even a few Ticketmasters. It's kinda like Bonnaroo in the sense that you know MusicToday is gonna drop the ball but you just wait and see how.
You and RiC are both right, there will always be disappointment with this festival. The ticket demand is just far greater that the capacity.

From a math perspective: 100 minutes until sellout is 6000 seconds. 135000 tickets /6000 seconds = 22.5 tickets a second. Not sure how this compares to other ticket outlets, but they get completely swamped.
As far as server capacity goes, it has sold out 2 hours quicker each year in the past three years. 2010 was 6 hours, 2011 4 hours, and 2013 in 100 minutes. They have obviously improved their systems. Glad I wasn't up until 9 last night trying at least.
Mrs and I have never been to 'Roo, but we have been to numerous Glastos. Either way, we're flying into Bristol on the Tuesday, then staying in an inn a few miles away from the site that night and getting there bright and early. More than happy to offer anyone a ride and any other help with the festival.

Brothers bar is the cheapest place for ciders at the festival. 3 pounds 50 pence please. I would totally be down for one right now. Tuborg's was the standard everywhere else, but not near as good as brother's. Brother's had different fruity flavors also, it was my preferred beverage of choice at Glasto. It's also open all of the time I believe.
I never ended up going to the cider bus and regret not trying the warm cider. Hopefully next time.
On Friday last year, you know, when the floodgates opened, the warm cider was my savior! As a matter of fact, it was so good that I woke up hours later in the sauna (or rather on the table next to the sauna... I did carefully move people's belongings to the ground) in the full ready for sauna condition, if you know what I mean.
