man, i've been reading some Season 2 posts on Winteriscoming.net and I have to say I am very intrigued with how they are going to do some of the story lines here.
mainly because the Reed children and 'Reek' haven't been cast yet, and the filming in Northern Ireland wrapped up back in November.
***SPOILER ALERT******
I'm wondering if the Theon's siege of Winterfell is being bumped to season 3, or if these characters are being written out altogether.
Also the Tulley's haven't been cast either. Edmure, Hoster, and Brynden (who also was absent from Season 1).
I can't see them being written out altogether. The Reed children as they serve a decently important function in the plot. Reek and the seige because they can't just not burn Winterfell. Seems like too much of a symbolic moment to pass up. Probably bumped.
Also, what the hell did they change Asha Greyjoy's name for?
from what I read they changed her name because it sounded too similar to Osha the wildling.
and as for the casting, i'm really hoping it's just being kept under wraps. because i do know that the Battle on the Blackwater is going to be episode 9, so they are going to stick somewhat to the chronology of the story, which means that Theon's siege would have to be in this season right? and without the Reed children (or the Walders, who haven't been cast either), I just fear Bran's storyline this season would be reaaaally boring.

If they Quack this up I am going to be really irritated. If Peter Jackson can do a LOTR book in three hours 12 is enough to do one of these and not leave shiz out.

yeah if anything I feel they would have to add stuff in to fill 10 episodes like with season 1.
well my theory right now is that maybe for season 2 (based solely on the casting) they are going to concentrate more on the war in the south, (Stannis vs Renly vs Joffrey), Daenerys in Qarth, and Jon Snow north of the Wall. and just introduce us to Balon and the Iron Islands, while the Tullys in Riverrun and Theon's seige on Winterfell is saved for season 3. According to Winteriscoming.net, Jaime is still only seen imprisoned in Robb's warcamp, and not in the dungeons of Riverrun. combine that with the fact that no Tully has been casted must mean that Riverrun probably won't be in season 2. ( i mean you can't just write out Riverrun or Edmure, you just can't.)
someone on the GOT facebook page told me that the Reed children are being written out of the series and Osha the wildling will be fulfilling their roles. he also said that the 'Reek' character wouldn't be making an appearance until Theon takes up the persona for Ramsay Snow in the later seasons. I don't know how much truth their is to either of those claims.

I tried to keep from reading any of the thread for spoilers, but for anyone like myself looking to catch season 1 before season 2 starts in a couple weeks, there is a marathon of all 10 episodes on one of the HBOs Saturday at 7(I think, don't quote me). I have my dvr set and hope to be caught up in time for the new season. I really don't watch any hour long shows but I have heard such great things. Lost and True Blood are really all I have watched in the last few years.
hakunaMATTata, watch this show!!! easily my favorite show on tv right now, along with Breaking Bad of course.
I am about 300 pages into Feast For Crows. Definitely a step down so far in terms of story/plot/pacing but I went into it well aware of that. I enjoy the one off perspectives from Dorne and the Iron Islands.
My only complaints so far are: 1) Brienne's story line is boring as sh*t. 2) I thought a new perspecitive from a character like Cersei would be a little less two-dimensional. All she does is hate hate hate.

^A Feast For Crows is my least favorite book in the series, for sure. Although I haven't finished the last one yet...I might not ever finish it.
I have to agree, the Brienne storyline is super boring, I just don't care to read about her....I feel the same way about Davos though, just not that interested.
I am wary of them cutting out the Reed children and Reek, I don't want to say anything for those who have not read the books but I will be interested to see how Osha can fill the role of both Reed children. And I liked the role Reek played, we lose that interesting twist to the story.

Whaaattt?! Oh man I thought he was so tedious! hahaha I will give him proper credit where it is due, he has grown on me. But I struggled getting into him when he was first introduced and on top of Brienne coming in I nearly put down the series

I do not understand how you can cut Reek out at all, at least the DWD version of Reek. I have a suspicion that like Gollum he is going to be a VERY important character later on. Cutting the Reeds out sucks, but long term I do not think that will be near as important.
I agree i think Reek will be really important in the later books. Personally i didn't have that much of a problem with feast of crows. Everyone told me it was the weakest one... and i do agree with that. But i still loved it. I really like the Iron Islands, and although Brienne is somewhat boring she still has a kick ass sword and does a lot in the books. I don't know i'm kind of attached to every character in this book (i know you shouldn't be) but just the fact that they all come in contact with each other or visit sets just minutes or days before another character was there is awesome.
****SPOILER WARNING FROM LAST BOOK***
Davos is awesome the one thing that made me angry was the fact that he only has one chapter in the last book i think. Where Manderly tells him he has to go on a quest and then you don't hear from him again. I felt pretty attached to every c
well to be fair, The fact that the Reeds and Reek are 'cut out' is because some random person on facebook told me so. It might not be the case. There is no way Reek will be cut out altogether. It might be that he hasnt been cast yet because they are trying to keep the surprise of his identity for those who haven't read the books. *Mild Spoiler* They might just be playing with the order of events a little bit. From the now numerous amount of trailers, it seems that Bran, Hodor, and Osha leave Winterfell this season, but they might be waiting to do Ramsay's sacking of Winterfell in season 3.
And Davos is the sh*t.
And I love the character of Brienne, so that's why I find it irksome that a complex, interesting character like Brienne has such a lame story-arc in FFC.
I'm not sure how they're gonna do it. They really can't cut out Reek, but i'm pretty sure he isn't in the series until the Third book anyway (My Favorite Easily). I heard that they're making the second season be the entire second book and then splitting the third book into seasons 3 and 4 but they're shooting those seasons back to back. So hopefully there won't be a long gap.
Judging by the character featurettes and trailers... there is going to be a lot of extra content in the show, especially this season. Looks like they are really taking full advantage of the gay Renly hints dropped by Martin. (the rainbow guard, Margaery still being a maiden, various conversations of Loras being up Renly's ass.) and ohmygod Margaery Tyrell is smokin' hot.

I think the books and show both did more than drop "hints" about Renly being gay.

Yeah i guess. I mean you could tell in the books he was gay. I guess because i wanted it to stick to the books more i could've done without the whole Loras shaving Renly scene. Just irked me

lol yeah i just didn't know if they were just going to do that one scene with the shave and hummer from Loras and be done with it or go actually into more depth. judging by Renly's character featurette for season 2 there is going to be a tiny subplot with Margaery and Loras over who is Renly's actual lover and shiz.

Davos is one of my favorites!
Also, cutting out the Reeds wouldn't make much sense. Someone has to accompany Bran. And someone else has to accompany Rickon. The two can't be together, and neither of them can be alone. And sending Hodor with one and Osha with another also makes no sense.
a blogger on Westeros.org was screened the first four episodes of season 2, and wrote of his likes and dislikes. Of course if you've read Clash of Kings there is no need to worry about story spoilers, so you might find this an interesting read, and maybe lessen the blow of some of the weaker, disappointing parts of the adaptation of certain scenes.

I actually just did the same thing. I haven't been on Netflix in like a month or two so I just canceled the membership and signed up for HBO, it's perfect! I actually think I am saving a couple dollars every month by switching.
Just finished Feast for Crows. all-in-all I really enjoyed it. Definitely not as exciting as Clash of Kings or Storm of Swords, but it picked up pretty nicely in the last 300 pages, considering it didn't have Tyrion, Daenerys, or Jon. Going to wait a little while before I start Dance with Dragons. Mainly because I can't find a copy anywhere. My library doesn't carry it, and none of my local bookstores have it in stock. Probably just going to order it off amazon. But I could probably use a small break from Westeros.
I found this interesting spreadsheet online, with a chapter order on how to read Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons simultaneously. What's interesting is how this person doesn't put the FFC chapters in order but kind of jumbles them around to fit around DWD (he puts the first Aeron Damphair chapter (The Prophet) before either of the prologues.)
