Childish Gambino: Only caught him because I was getting some air from the Cinema Tent, and he was right there. Didn't realize that was Donald Glover! He was really good, good enough to get me to go listen to other artists I didn't know.
The Sword: I only knew Freya before, but their set was solid and the crowd was into it.
G. Love: I saw him on the Sonic Stage (without Special Sauce) and thought he was pretty sweet. Upon looking into him more after 'Roo, I found most of his stuff is totally different from the acoustic stuff, but still awesome.
Cold War Kids: Only knew "Hang Me Up to Dry," but their sound quality was very good, and the crowd was very good as well.
String Cheese Incident: Their live show was killer. Can't believe I had never even heard of them before.
Widespread Panic: They sounded very solid, and they were a sweet choice to close out the festival.
Cory Chisel :::::: I joined Danbird for his Solar Stage set. Some asshats talking and wooting during the show STILL couldn't kill the vibe. Beautiful stuff.
i was there also, it was a really good show, the dude that came on stage with the orange cowboy hat was awesome haha
I will echo everyone else and say Band of Skulls. Great show.
Matt & Kim. I had heard a few of their songs but didn't plan on seeing them so I am glad we stumbled upon their set. Very energetic and they really know how to work the crowd.
Sorry about the hyjack, but if you're talking about the band !!!, how do you say it?
Surely not "exclamation point, exclamation point, exclamation point" or do you just yell??
Thanks!
i think you pronounce it chk chk chk but i could be wrong
Any sound repeated 3 times is technically a correct pronunciation, but usually chk chk chk is said. Check the wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/!!! (or should I say chk the wiki hehe)
Not so much discovered, but I found out that Patrick Carney of the black keys is an absolute monster on drums (this is actually even an understatement).
I've never seen someone with so much intensity, ever. He looked like he was going to break through the stage.
After Primus I was looking for a bite to eat, walked past the On Tap lounge and heard some pure shredding in the form of JEFF The Brotherhood. Totally blew me away, they rocked out so hard. Wasn't a bit dissapointed about missing Arcade Fire.

In an attempt to get close to the Which stage for The Gaslight Anthem in 2010 I caught Trombone Shorty's set and I was blown away. As a Gaslight Anthem fan, it isn't easy to admit that I ended up enjoying Trombone Shorty way more.
Also, in '09 I had NO idea who Cage The Elephant were. I checked them out on a whim and I was more than impressed. I have been a fan ever since.

edit- i am now BO and the Fudge Toes, hot dog!
I too caught Cory Chisel and enjoyed it.
Amos Lee on Which Stage was pretty good. He's not really country but he has elements of Red Dirt in his sound, which I like.
Alison Krauss has been around for ages but I never got a full dose of her until Saturday, before Mumford. I really enjoyed her show.

I really got into Gogol Bordello. My friends were trying to convince me all weekend to go to their set and I finally gave in. So glad I did cause it was so fun.
Also who were the guys that wore like the bird masks and the speedos? I think they judged the mustache contest. They were pretty entertaining and I talked to them a bit afterwards. That's definitely a show I'd take my friends to and tell them nothing about it just to see the looks on their faces.
I saw Cold War Kids once before as an opener for another band a few years ago... they all looked pretty fucked up on something... but I decided to give them another shot at Bonnaroo and I'm very glad I did.
Did anybody else like Hayes Carll? I thought he put on a great show.
Explosions In The Sky sounded amazing and I wasn't even close to them. I was walking from one side of the Which Stage to the other trying to hear The Strokes when between songs I heard a f-ckin tidal wave of sound coming from This Tent.
I was standing to the right of the bleachers at Which and EITS were almost as loud as The Strokes from there.
I also walked by Scissor Sisters fully expecting not to care for them but they were a lot of fun.
In 09 I heard Galactic and Trombone Shorty both for the first time ever and loved them.
I am 39 and I would hate to say I have 'heard it all' but I felt that way a long time. Bonnaroo made me fall in love with music all over again and I am forever grateful for that.

I had heard of Sleigh Bells but never listened to their music, on Thursday night I went to check it out and it was a FANTASTIC show!!! I was able to chill by a tree and watch a lot of enthusiastic fans climb it Had a great time there, the lights were great, her voice was awesome. I came home and got Treats
was drawn into the Musician's Institute tent on Sat afternoon by a fabulous voice. I hate it that I don't remember her name. Was there any sort of a schedule for the MI tent that I could refer to?
I had never heard of Galactic before roo '04. They've been one of my favorite bands ever since.
After Primus I was looking for a bite to eat, walked past the On Tap lounge and heard some pure shredding in the form of JEFF The Brotherhood. Totally blew me away, they rocked out so hard. Wasn't a bit dissapointed about missing Arcade Fire.
Haha that sounds exactly like my night. I was in a lucid state and lost my group, so I checked out Primus. Loved it but the show was kicking my ass. So to relax my mind, I take a walk and I hear this driving heavy sound. I roll up and JEFF the brotherhood is killing it,in ended after the guitarists dueled against each other while surfing on the crowd. Glad you saw that show too, it was pretty epic. I ended up missing Arcade Fire also, but thats okay.

Judging by all of the comments on here, everyone has a different personal favorite and that attests to 2 things...one, Bonnaroo knows how to pickem and two, everyone brings their "A" game to Bonnaroo.
My favorite discovery was Reverent Peyton & His Big Damn Band. Dude can play a guitar !
Whiz Kalifa - Heard his pop stuff but was really impressed by his live show. He was really humble and put a lot energy into his performance, Also throwing the stack into the crowd was awesome.
Mumford and Sons - again heard their pop stuff but was really blown away by their live show
STS9 - may have been the corn but I had a completely different vision in my mind of the type of music they played.

dam funk and master blazter. Got real drunk thursday afternoon and passed out from 5:30- midnight (mostly because i stayed up til 8 from wednesday night). Long story short i missed everything i wanted to see all day so i wandered in on a hunch because i heard this group was good and was blown away.
Was listenin to some Chiddy Bang while relaxing in the shade. Good beats were being dropped and the Stewie impression was a great laugh. Overall, a good surprise.
