Yeah I only ever heard good things about the PE live show from Roo and Coach folk. Don't think Juggs made it that year.
I've seen them twice. Once in a club and the set at Roo and they are great live. They have an excellent backing band and there is a great energy on the stage. When Chuck D was out there Flav was well behaved and played his part well.
It's hard to compare PE's set to the Jay-z set because they are different. One is meant for clubs and the other for arenas. From an objective POV Jay-Z's Roo show was better because he is an excellent performer that is backed by an excellent band, with a great stage show. Chuck D is also a great performer and his band is great, but the stage show just doesn't compare. I loved both shows, and would happily go watch each artist again, but personally I enjoyed PE more than Jay-Z because I like PE more than Jay-Z.
It's great to see bands when they are in their prime, but just because a band doesn't make music that is as good as they used to or their music isn't as relevent, we shouldn't dismiss them as a live act without seeing it first. Some great examples are Paul McCartney, Metallica, Prince, Rush, Public Enemy, Tom Petty who are still excellent live. While others like Bob Dylan are just kind of sad.
Anyone think there's a chance MIA could be near the top of the list? She has a new record coming out in May. After the distaster that was Maya, she went back and worked with Diplo and Rusko on this new record, so there's high hopes for it. I think she'd be a great LN Which act, she'd fill the hip-hop/EDM void quite nicely!

Man, that album is terrible. I'd guess that she wouldn't be too close to the top of the bill, but maybe third or fourth line.

Realistically there aren't any options for a hip-hop headliner & that's coming from a hip-hop head. I would LOVE to see Outkast, but honestly they are the only non-repeating HL that I think would deserve the main stage spot. I would perfer to just get more upper mid-card hip-hop acts that would fit into the Roo vibe. Bonnaroo isn't Rock the Bells, so all of the people I would love to see who are atop their lineup would be in a tent at Roo, and I'd be cool with that.

I'd love an MIA return. I discovered her by allllmost getting on stage at her Vegoose 07 show. Then her 08 Roo show was phenomenal! I remember "losing my mind" to that song/show in general. Wow.
MAYA was really bad, but I think she'll make a strong comeback. Vickileeks (spelling?) was pretty good. I don't know exactly where she'd be, but I'd guess around 20-25. She definitely needs a LN set this time. That would be beyond incredible.

Every account I've heard regarding the Public Enemy show has been great. I wasn't at that particular show so I can't say for sure, but I've heard nothing but great things. The Rolling Stones comparison isn't valid at all. Seeing a band 20 years after their recording prime is quite different than seeing a band 40 years after their recording prime. But I will agree I would be more than aprehensive in regards to seeing the Stones or The Beach Boys live.

I saw them at Vegoose 07 and they were really good! I left a little early though to see some of Cypress Hill and The Shins
flava flav has always been an ass, he always will. it's not like now he is up there doing anything different than he was before. except for that drum solo. but that poop was hilarious.
I'll throw in with those who think Public Enemy are still good live. I didn't see them at Roo but caught them at the last show of that tour in Fargo. It was way fun and even my little sister was into it despite not knowing the music.
Flava did that fucking drum solo at our show too. That was so bad. I thought it was a one time only thing but guess most audiences got to enjoy it. He also invited a bunch of teen girls on stage and told them something along the lines of don't lose your virginity or drop out of school. After the show he hung around on stage and signed stuff though, so he seems like a nice dude.

to anyone who didnt love jay at roo i wasnt there but have seen him solo, same with kanye, both were very good but in the off chance that the throne are there, the throne show i saw was impossibly better then jayz solo
Everyone said Lil Wayne would headline the main stage last year.
Um, not a single person thought that Lil Wayne would headline the What Stage once the lineup dropped last year. Pretty much everyone was predicting either a pre-headliner, Which stage closer or a Which stage late night.
I was referring to pre line up speculation. Obviously any artist listed after the first four names is not getting a headliner spot.

Anyone think that Wiz Khalifa could come back a little higher on the list? Last year I really enjoyed his show and I don't usually go to many of the Hip Hop shows. I just figured that since his day show was so good that maybe they would bring him back to preform at night.

I hope not. There are many up-and-coming hip hop acts that could be billed instead of a Wiz repeat. Doubtful he returns for 2012 but who knows.

This means that you missed Mumford and Sons.
What is your malfunction
I was in that sea of humanity that day. It wasn't that great. They're just ok.
