What exactly should we do with this thread now? We don't need to "predict" the headliners anymore (unless you argue that the "headliners" extend beyond the top billed act on Friday/Saturday/Sunday) since we know all three at this point.
Ohhh I know, let's use it to post the order of our favorite Radiohead albums and do Roll Calls for other potential sets! ;D
You don't pay the kind of money it takes to book RHCP (even today) and not have them headline the What stage. All by themselves. It's a simple fact.
Then why the 'relatively loosely'?
I am not disagreeing, this is a rock solid top 3 that is competitive with Coach and makes tons of people ecstatic, myself included. But those 2 words are just itching at me.
What would your explanation be for her to use those words?

I posted this a couple of pages back, but it was in between a lot of Katy Perry gifs, so people might have gotten distracted ...
Keep in mind that I am only referring to 'headliners' here, which I'll define as the 2 'prime time' spots each on Fri, Sat and Sun (6 acts) - so, just because I may say no to someone who guesses a particular act doesn't mena they may not end up on a late-night or daytime stage.....
So let's do some eliminating - I will start by saying that Furthur was looking as almost definite to close Sunday, but due to a conflict that crept up, they are out.........
I think Insider said "relatively loosely" because her own personal definition of a "headliner" is different from most people who probably look at the lineup and only count the top three names as "headliners."

I was going to say the same thing but many people are still believing that we'll get someone like Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Prince, or a name along those lines.
I don't get it but if they want to speculate/predict they can.
I honestly think we have our top 3 names and now we should speculate on the undercard. I'd love to be wrong but I'm not getting hopes up.

I believe that she used the term "relatively loosely" because I think Phish will get a late night slot on the What stage after either RHCP or Radiohead. So since RHCP or Radiohead are not the final act on the What stage then some people might not consider them a "headliner".
I think we have our top 3 and the "relatively loosely" is because even though we have the "headliners" some people will still argue that they aren't the "headliner".
I imagine it will be a little bit like seeing Dylan. It's just going to be an experience that I never thought I'd get to have. Only thing that worries me is that they're so reliant on vocal harmonies, and I have no idea how well any of them can still sing.
gah I really hope Beach Boys are not on Which and not before Radiohead.. I would probably have to miss them to get into the pit for Radiohead and that would be a travesty =(
By the way the more I think about it, the more I do not want a second Phish set.. Is that a set in stone thing? Insider just said Phish is going to be there, did she really say two sets again and I just missed it?

Not set in stone. Just rumored (tour dates floating around Phish boards has them with two Roo dates) and assumed because they did it last time.
But it's certainly not definite they'll get two timeslots.
I honestly think that you're going to see a situation similar to last year's MMJ> Arcade Fire thing, and something similar to the Black Keys vs. Buffalo Springfield thing. If you look at it from insider's perspective, there were six "headliners," with 2 playing Friday, 3 playing Saturday, 1 playing Sunday. I think this year will shake up like so:
Friday: [random bigger band X] > RHCP Saturday: [two bands semi overlapping on What vs. Which] > Radiohead Sunday: Phish
or like this, if you assume Phish is getting two sets and is going to count twice in that group of six:
Friday: RHCP > Phish LN Saturday: [two bands semi overlapping on What vs. Which] > Radiohead Sunday: Phish
I think we're missing two bands from that Saturday slot, personally. This seems like the most likely scenario to me. If I had to guess, I could honestly say that I could see Drake on the What preheadlining for Radiohead, with the Beach Boys playing the Which semi-unopposed like Buffalo Springfield last year.
i think at the drive in would fit nicely into your saturday which scenario... then throw beach boys up against em on what. could at the drive in be billed that high? i think volta was in the top 15 in 09 and atdi is arguably more popular than them

You don't think it'd be more likely for Drake to be on the Which while some band a la The Shins preheadlines for Radiohead on the What?

Side note:
In Rainbows - House of Cards OK Computer - It's hard not to say Paranoid Android Kid A - Everything in its Right Place Amnesiac - Like Spinning Plates/Life in a Glass House King of Limbs - Seperator Hail to the Thief - There There The Bends - Street Spirit Pablo Honey - no comment. I need to listen to it more.
And I feel bad for missing the tent and Which stage headliners the day of Radiohead, but I'll be in that pit, even if I have to sit through Drake, which I doubt.
Look, what I know is Friday headliner, 2 Sat headliners and Sun headliners - already told you Fri and Sun. The only reason I'm not coming out and telling you Sat is I'm a little scared of who reads this board and them figuring out who I am.
Yes she also gave us Tenacious D, but you can see by her post that she did not consider them a "headliner" since there was only 1 Friday headliner.
Each year is different. People need to realize that just because she said there were 6 "headliners" last year that doesn't mean that she considers every year to have 6 "headliners" and that we should expect her to reveal 6 names.
