I just can't seem to get into these guys. I decided to have a hungover Its Always Sunny marathon on Saturday and when I cracked season 5 a leaflet for 'The League' fell out. Tried yet again to get into it and I couldn't. Any suggestions?

A lot of people would probably say "well, if you don't like fantasy football....", but I don't agree with that. In fact, when the show first started it was ripped for making the league have only 8 teams (only five of which have owners who are characters on the show).
In reality, it's a show about guys being guys, trash talking, football, and, like It's Always Sunny, some ridiculously outlandish story lines.
I like the League, but I am also of that same breed of trash-talking A-hole.

I like the League because it's more about friends, their interactions, and funny storylines. They barely do much with football since they can't film it live (and don't have proper stats and other things up to date).
Jacketman - I'd suggest looking into their individual stand up stuff. Nick Kroll is pretty funny and Jon Lajoie is really talented. Don't know how the standup of the 4th guy is and Paul Scheer is more about sketch comedy and not so much stand up.
Either way....maybe you just don't like the show. I enjoy it and don't really know anything about football. Maybe you just dislike the characters. Check out the Mr. McGibblets episode, that's hilarious.
Yeah, I don't partake in fantasy football and barely follow NFL since my team is the Cowboys and, well, they're a lost cause. However, I LOVE this show.
These guys are funny. Lajoie is far and away my least favorite comedian of that group, but I get his appeal. I'm just not into the funny song guys.
I don't mind Lajoie's songs, but I'd agree that Taco is easily the least funny. I rarely laugh at anything he says, yet my friends that watch to show seem to think he's the funniest guy ever. I don't really get it. Either way I'm pretty excited for this, Paul Scheer is just awesome in general.
I think Taco is great but only for the other characters to play off of his absent-mindedness. I'm definitely with you in that I'm not into the singing comedian bit. I think Bo Burnham used to be tolerable because he was clever and didn't rely solely on the songs. It's become old, though.

I don't know, the vinegar strokes episode was pure Taco genius. I like a few other singing comedian bits such as Nick Thune and Demetri Martin but most of them are kinda annoying. I find Bo Burnham intolerable, but I know he is very popular. Whatever tickles your funny bone is alright with me.

Does anyone listen to Comedy Death Ray Radio (now Comedy Bang Bang *cringe*)? Nick Kroll does many of his characters on that and they are much funnier than in his stand up. The cyber thug takeover episode with Bobby Bottleservice is one of my favorite things of all time. El Chupacabra is annoying as hell, but I can't get mad at Nick about it because I am madly in love with him.
Throw Jon Lajoie in the mix and there is no way I will be missing this.

I love Nick Kroll on CDR (or Comedy Bang Bang as its known now), but the characters don't work well in the standup at all. Chupacabra was funny on WTF as well.

Chupacabra was funniest (that i've seen) on Reno 911. That was a perfect place to have him because his character was meant to be annoying to the cops. Great stuff.
Does anyone else have a feeling this is going to be packed on Sunday?
Maybe it's just me, but when I look at Sunday at 1:00 The League is without a question the thing to see.
Yeah, that's definately my plan as well. Mavis Staples is the only one I would miss, but I could still catch the ending of her set. And she's just one of those artists I wanna say I saw before she's gone. Not really invested in watching her entire set. Plus some AC during the hottest part of the final day will be clutch

Yea I hope it's not too packed on Sunday....that's when I planned on seeing them. I'm all booked up with many bands on Saturday but starting off Sunday with The League would be awesome.

If I made it into Conan and Aziz last year, I think I'll be ok with this. I'm hoping to get my ticket (which is a pointless system really) and then go see some of The Head and The Heart before going in.

Steve Ranizizi (i know i didn't spell it right) was on the joe rogan experence podcast, it was a good one and he talks about coming to roo. you can download it on itunes or joerogan.net.
Really looking forward to trying to catch this! My friend was on the show last season (The Guru) and he marvels that I love the show so much despite not being a big fan of football, and having zero interest in fantasy. Well-written and absolutely hilarious.
