Oh that's good. Better than the bootleg Little Caesars vendors who sell pizzas half the size of normal and cost MORE than said normal pizzas I can get at their places in Worcester.
Well, I probably would have gotten lunch or something on the outside, so that would have just stuck me with dinner. Pepe's in Manchester = win. That and the City Steam thing if anyone's game.
LD- I am jealous that you are doing Mountain Jam! I have DMB Caravan two weeks after Roo and a concert on the 4th, so 3 festivals in one month (4 in 5 weeks) might have been the death of me.
I'm only doing the Saturday, since I may or may not have to work on that Friday. But Saturday has most of the bands I wanted to see there anyway. Portugal, North Mississippi, Avetts, Mule, Umphrey's with John Oates... I'm content with just the one day pass.
I got Vibes a month after Roo myself.

There's a good chance I'll be at Vibes, though I haven't committed. I am probably going to the Newport Folk Festival in July as well. Then another DMB Caravan in August. Plus the regular concerts.
Haven't been to Pepe's in forever.. thinking about it is making me hungry!!
It's saying Scattered T-Storms for Saturday and Sunday right now :/
I'm still in the air about City Steam.. I think I'd prefer just to tailgate, but if you guys are meeting up, then I'll def do it too. I am craving their buffalo quesadilla- they put fresh, crisp jalapenos in them.. yummy. (I am spicy food obsessed)
Juggs- that sucks about Sunday! I think that's the better lineup for me... I'll spread the word for you though
Sorry for the lack of quoting.. I am too lazy and a little hungover from the concert last night to deal with multiple quotes!

Since Juggs can only do Saturday, how about a definite tailgate thing then?
What time is your first must see shows both days? I was thinking perhaps sneak in a City Steam visit on Sunday around Noon before going to the Meadows. Ditto Pepe's Manchester and Saturday. But I just might do that with my group and then meet up with y'all afterwards.
The first that I want to see is right at 11:00, but I don't think I want to be inside from 11:00 on, so I doubt that I'll make it in.. but we'll see. I'm def up for meeting for a beer in the lots before going in on any day. I'm still on the fence about City Steam. Especially since I usually work seven days a week so taking this weekend off (and I took last Sunday off for a concert and the weekend after Bombfest I have a concert.. then Roo, etc). I really have to be careful about my expenses!! But I do really want the quesadilla!

Yes, I do. It's a lot... but it's why I can afford so many vacations, concerts and festivals! I have a regular full-time job and I also waitress nights and weekends.

Just out of curiosity, where do you waitress? Local, Hartford-area?
Also, the weather for this weekend now looks outstanding.
Yup, the Cheesecake Factory in WH. I have been there since the day we opened (Nov 1, 2007).
Yes! I heard that at dinner tonight! (And by dinner, I mean late night Feng sushi) I just checked it. I am seeing scattered thunderstorms for Saturday still? But it def looks MUCH better!!
So... I get a lot of my mail sent to my parents house as I am 25 (almost 26- Roo birthday!) and not in what I consider a permanent living arrangement. My mom forwards me any mail that I need more urgently- like tickets. She forwarded me an envelope that she received about Bombfest... and it only included two VIP parking passes (which I didn't pay for) and no tickets.. I def have to call tomorrow. Not that I am complaining about the VIP.. but I kinda need my tickets!!

Nope. Just bought them a few weeks ago actually. I am super pumped about the free VIP passes, but would like to know where my tickets are! I will go to my parents house tomorrow (they are in Cali right now) and see if they arrived separately before I call and yell and the oh-so-awesome Livenation.

wow i should have been checking here i guess... i'll be at both days too! and i'm actually from good ole WeHa. I'm hoping they're using the venue's caterer for the artists because he's a good friend of the family's and i'll be able to score free food and drinks haha ...other than that i'll starve. I'm just glad I can cross off some Bonnaroo names here so I have less conflicts on the farm!

I'm not sure if you're not planning on buying food inside because of a money thing, or because the concession stands generally blow, or what, but there was a list of the vendors that will be at B.O.M.B. Fest in this week's Advocate - and they have a bunch of really good, local food vendors. A Thai place, a vegetarian place, a BBQ place...actually sounds pretty good, and way better than the traditional venue food. No idea on brews (probably regular prices, I'd imagine), but we'll see.
oh man... if the Thai place is Hot Basil, I'll have 0.00 dollars by the end of the weekend.
I have ALWAYS loved Thai food. The first time I went to Hot Basil, I was underwhelmed. It's like Chinese food. It's so americanized... then we went again.. again.. and again... Now, I love it and go way too often (I actually have a standing Hot Basil "date" next Friday). King and I is super tasty as well- way more traditional though. The new place in the center, the Elephant Trail, is a bitter, bitter disappointment. Don't go. Juggs, I just tried to find that article, but with no avail :/ Do you remember what restaurants they were?
Strat! Welcome to the discussion (however late you may be..). Glad you are going! (WeHa rocks!)
I hadn't heard that about George Clinton, but he hadn't made my schedule anyway. Felice is now running way too far into Edward Sharpe for my liking though. Not too happy about that.

Good weekend, but holy cancellations. I'll probably say more later on, when it's not I'm half awake and needing to be up in five hours.
Dan Deacon and Sphongletron were highlights of the weekend. I passed out during Weezer, even though I was in the 4th row. Not sure how I didn't fall asleep both nights on 84 East. Spent ungodly amounts of money on beer, food, and water/lemonade.
The cancellations were ABSURD!! My highlights were State Radio and Toubab- Shpongle was wicked awesome too. Overall a good weekend! For the price of the ticket, totally worth it

I wish Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros were given a longer set time... they seemed like that had more to give. RJD2 was a great show and he seemed to enjoy being there more than most of the "national acts". Shpongle was awesome. I probably would've gone to see Wiz Khalifa instead to just knock him off my list so maybe that cancellation was a blessing. Luckily I got hooked up and was able to stroll in and out of the back stage dining room for food and drinks. Weezer was better than I expected but, like most acts, it seemed like they were underwhelmed with the turnout. A setlist of mostly Pinkerton and Blue Album was much appreciated though.
Overall, I'd say it was disappointing because of the cancellations but still a good time. It definitely showed that this festival has a lot of potential. Hopefully next year will be bigger and better. I'd love to see a yearly festival in Hartford to kick off the concert season.

...worth the price even before the 50% off at the door ...I don't feel bad about paying twice as much when it goes to charity and it's still a reasonable price though.
I wish Edward Sharpe had a longer set also. Then again, I don't remember too much of that time. My group wanted to badly go see Brian from Weezer at the autograph session. I wasn't too happy, since Sharpe was one of my prioritites of the weekend - and then only saw half the set. I'm sure I'll see them around somewhere though.
I had a great time this weekend. Def. worth the money, and I hope this is the start of something big in Connecticut. I've talked to a few people who wished they could have gone.
Saturday: Probably missed some decent stuff early, but I was at City Steam. Quesadillas and Naughty Nurses... any objections?
Turbo Fruits (alright) Titus Andronicus (kudos to whoever recommended this, def need to check out more of them) Dan Deacon (odd sound, very fun atmosphere. The tunnel was cool to watch.)
My friend and her friend shown up a little before 5, met up with them at Cool Kids. They didn't like it, moved on to Real Estate - again didn't like it and moved on. Forget Paris: sounded fine to me, my friend loved them though.
By this point, it gets a little hazy. I drank steadily throughout the day, that and I was just talking a lot with my friend somewhere in the back of the pavillion. I'm sure I saw Sun Hotel and some Best Coast but wasn't paying attention to either that much. We ended up at Felice Brothers, but the other two didn't like it. I moved on anyway to see Edward Sharpe, but was quickly overruled in favor of Brian from Weezer. I should have let them two just go and come back for me.
The other two loved Weezer, they said they wished the set was longer though. Commented about how they were playing much from the same two albums mentioned earlier. I fell asleep, woke up just before Say It Ain't So. Stuck around for that song, then left afterwards.
Sunday: Met up with my friend (her friend didn't come Sunday) at Pepe's Manchester. Tailgated by the Expo Center for an hour. Missed Portugal The Man, but since they're at Mountain Jam next week I'm not worried.
Sunday was just dominated again by whatever my friend wanted to hear. Well, I picked first Toubab Krewe, which sounded good but I would like to hear more. Neither one of us were digging Against Me, then just wandered for a while. Ended up talking in the back of the pavillion again.
State Radio sounds good, I need to look into them as well. My friend loves them. Cosmic Dust Bunnies - I was liking it, was more into that than my friend was
I dragged my friend from New Pornographers to Man Man. But ended up leaving Man Man after a half hour. I got a iwrestledabearonce vibe out of Man Man.
I think I was at Daedalius after Man Man and before Neon Trees. I was interested, she wasn't. Neon Trees was one her priorities of the weekend, I wasn't all that excited. 12th Planet was after that, caught the end of that set. Again: I liked, she was more interested in the hula hoop dancers.
Coheed: I was surprised to know she liked these guys. I really wish I was further back than where we ended up sitting. Couldn't see anything due to the flashing lights bothering me, and couldn't make out any sort of vocals over the strong sound system.
Friend leaves, I go to Shpongle. Really wish I jumped from Coheed to Shpongle rather than waited to the end of Coheed. Shpongle was much more fun to be at. If I'm anywhere near awake for his set at Roo, I'm there.
Left before Snoop, again getting tired - plus needed to be at work. Odd noticing the high amount of cops coming towards the place and security inching in towards the pavilion.
Someone commented Saturday to me about the 2010 Roo shirt I had on, how she had it at home and was also going to Roo this year. Was over by the beer truck behind the Manic Productions tent and the PLR tent.

Yea? Glad you like them. I just saw they got their timeslot moved so wasn't sure if you were going to get to check them out. They were having some twitter battles with Deer Tick over the weekend so that makes sense. When I saw them a week ago in Brooklyn they had Ian (from Deer Tick) join them on stage for Frankie's Gun as well.
Hope they kicked ass. They really shine in a dark bar setting, when the beers are flowing but they can also rock a day stage pretty well. I'm sure i'll hear more about the show soon.

I assume by the end of both days, there were 4k-5k people there. Which is alright for an upcoming festival in this part of the country. Except the venue being able to hold six times that amount... not so good.
The Meadows was way too big for this sort of thing. But it was too big for Oakdale or WestConn. Where else could it have gone?

^^^^AHHH THAT WAS ME!!! (I was the blonde in the long, funky dress) Didn't even occur to me to ask if you were one of the Inforoo guys! Rock on!!! . I regret not asking now!
When I wrote my last post, I don't think the webpage was properly refreshed- I missed a whole bunch of posts.
You said that your friends didn't like Real Estate? How about you? I thought they were awesome. Didn't know much about them before Bomb though.
Forget Paris plays in the area a lot- downtown Hartford and such. I caught them because my friend is the keyboardist. I don't love them, but I like well enough.
Did anyone catch Big Freedia? I think my mouth is still hanging open. I was speechless.

I thought it might have been you, I even said Inforoo a couple of times. I guess you must not have understood me or something. My friend, the girl next to me, was said one who is going to NKotB and Backstreet Boys at Fenway.
Going to the brunch next week?
Wasn't at Real Estate long enough to really get a good gauge on it.
I was at Sphongle during Big Freedia - how bad or good was it?
Actually, for some reason, I did have trouble understanding you.. haha. I wasn't going to say that incase it came out wrong. That's why I walked away so quickly..
Big Freedia... was FRIGHTENING. There was 100% pure ass shaking going on. Not hot Shakira like shaking, like ghetto bent on the floor... horrifying.
