When do additional acts get announced? This is my 2nd Roo, but we found out about Roo & got our tickets & got to Roo in less than 2 months.
Roo was our first festival & I had a blast. And granted I don't know some of the bands & will do more research... but, I'm starting to wonder if a drive to Coachella might be more my thing.
I was never into The Sword but I just finished listening to Age of Winters and that was one hell of an album. So stoked to see these guys.
Also Deacon, you just rattled off a long list of pretty incredible acts (except Lil Wayne) and then said that you weren't that excited.... were you expecting Ashley Capps to knock on your door and suck your dick and then tell you that Radiohead, Daft Punk, and Jesus were playing?

If you liked Age of Winters, go listen to Warp Riders now. It's phenomenal.

Currently downloading now. I have such a difficult time finding awesome heavy bands with vocals I can actually tolerate, so this is a GREAT find for me.
I have been thrilled so far with the lineup! I was, like many of you, secretly rooting for Radiohead even to the last minute but I feel very satisfied with this lineup.
Before my annual binge on youtube videos of artists I don't know who are on the lineup, I'm initially really excited about Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Mumford & Sons, The Decemberists, Ray Lamontagne, Iron & Wine, Explosions in the Sky, Gogol Bordello, and Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. There are also several artists that I am interested in seeing but not as familiar with. I have attended 08-10 and although I wouldn't necessarily say that this year's lineup is the best out of those years, it is the lineup that I am most excited about initially before checking out artists I haven't previously listened to.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really fucking glad they're all there, I just want to be excited for more bands. It might just all stem from the lack of dfa1979. That is truly sad.
i love discovering new bands at but i also enjoy discovering new bands by just checking out the lineup.. anyway, i dont know how anyone could be upset at this lineup.. the undercard is ridiculous

I realise it all comes down to personal taste but I am really disappointed in the line up. I am from Australia and am coming to America for the first time in April. I really wanted to go to Bonnaroo but with that line up I cannot justify it. My biggest problem is compared to other years, their is a major lack of diversity. There is no reggae. There is no dance music (there's electronica but it's not dance music). There are barely any singer-songwriters. Iron & Wine are decent but Ray LaMontague is simply not up to it.
It seems that they have focused on these areas: old timer bands, jam bands, indie rock and trashy hip hop. Lil Wayne? Is that a joke? There are way too many flash in the pan indie rock bands playing for my liking. The same bands that get over-hyped in Australia are all playing at this festival - Mumford & Sons (the wiggles of the folk scene), Cold War Kids, Florence and The Machine, The Strokes, Sleigh Bells, !!!, The Decemberists, School of Seven Bells....... I have no interest in seeing any of these bands play. You're never going to like everything but there's not one artist who I am jumping up and down to see.
I was really hoping for a different festival. I naively assumed Bonnaroo would look for more than over-hyped bands. Of course there is a decent level of variety but compared to the last two years, this line up is narrow and bland.
I get it, it's my personal opinion and some will love this line up. For those that do, enjoy.
It is better than last year, but still nowhere close to my favorite Bonnaroo lineup.
I have to agree - it stinks of desperation - take away Arcade Fire and what have you got? Give me Neil Young SOLO - give me MASSIVE ATTACK - give me DEATH FROM ABOVE!!!!! give me something to look forward too late night!!! give me something other worldly !! It' your tenth quacking birthday son - what have you gone and done to yourself!!!
in all seriousness semi-solid lineup but in my humble opinion theres alot of potential wasted - it'll be great, but it should have been timeless.
My biggest problem is compared to other years, their is a major lack of diversity.
Sorry you don't feel the same way we all do. I do think this statement is false because there's country, rap, rock, metal, dj/electronic, jam band, alternative rock, and more. Also, additions are coming.
There is no reggae. There is no dance music (there's electronica but it's not dance music).
There will be a lot of additions. I bet a few reggae/world acts and a bunch of electronic/dance music get added (like Lunar stage or whatever last year).
There are barely any singer-songwriters. Iron & Wine are decent but Ray LaMontague is simply not up to it.
Justin Townes Earle is a singer-songwriter. So is Gregg Allman, Amos Lee, Hayes Carll, Ryan Bingham and many others.

This is a fantastic lineup. Buffalo Springfield is a legendary act and I hope they really bring it on the farm. I'm hoping that they also pull from individual members' catalogs. Stephen Stills is amazing. I'm extremely pleased with SCI for my jam bone. I get palpitations thinking about the original members of The Meters playing with Dr. John. Lots of bands to see this year. I'm hoping for a good rollout of DJs in a Lunar Stage announcement a la last year, or even a major DJ name like Tiesto like 2008 (second wave announcement). All the same, there should be some great electronica there. Excited to see Pretty Lights for the first time. Really interested to see what direction Explosions in the Sky goes. I'm effing pumped guys. Looks like another great year on the farm.
I genuinely have no idea whether or not the Aussie is trolling.
I mean, most of what he says is almost objectively incorrect, and yet, there is a sincerity...
haha i like your response. I'm not trolling. If everything I am saying is incorrect then state which reggae bands are on the line up and which dance artists are on the line up. None of the electronic acts are dance music. All the bands I've listed have played in Australia a lot. They have all been hyped (in Australia anyway) way beyond what I believe they bring musically. How is any of this incorrect? My opinion isn't going to change yours and vice versa but I don't think what i'm stating is incorrect.

You are definitely correct that there is no reggae. I personally hope it stays that way, but I'd say it is highly likely that a few reggae acts will be added to the lineup at some point.
There will definitely be dance acts once the DJs are added, especially if they continue with the Lunar Stage this year. The DJs typically aren't added until much later. Is Robyn a dance act?
Probably wasn't going to go, as hopefully I'll be in Europe, but if I was here, I'd only go if I had a free ticket. Pretty disappointed. Not a whole lot of surprises. Sub-par top act. I've already seen over half the acts I'd be interested in seeing. This year, Coachella > Bonnaroo

Really hoping the lunar stage is top notch. Really really hoping. besides that, last year everyone who is anyone on these boards used the line "wait till next year because it's the 10th anniversary" in response to the lackluster line up we received. This year? It's a "smidge" better. I don't know, guys. Has the festival scene just gotten to crowded to put on a mind-blowing festival anymore? I'm grabbing at straws here trying to find a reason why this festival as been lackluster for 2 years straight now and on the 10th anniversary no less. Has AC/Superfly spread itself to thin? Not just worried about bonnaroo anymore but putting on so many fests that they aren't putting as much time in to roo? Like I said I'm grasping at straws but there's no Ifs ands or buts that this is a Semi-letdown for a lot of people who attend the festival regularly's idea of a Bonnaroo X.
I'm a little surprised at no Cut Copy, but they could easily be an add. Speaking of which, I'm guessing that the names on the lineup without asterisks between them are where the additions will be? Thoughts?
The biggest addition for the past three years has been a comedy act. Do you think it's possible we could get Stephen Colbert between The Black Keys and Buffalo Springfield?
