Veteran and character -Sir Elton John Magistrate -in england the magistrate was a titled person; i.e. Sir John - porcelain throne Crabs use porta-johns at the beach to live under
Gary hasn't commented on #4 yet. I will update the OP when he does.
I have to say, while the Oysterhead argument is pretty good, I am inclined to believe that the first sentence in the clue refers to one person/name/word in band name and the second refers to a second person/last name/second word in a band name.
A veteran - Jack White is a Bonnaroo veteran and magistrate or a character of sorts - Wanda Jackson is "The Queen of Rockabilly" A throne one cannot abdicate - "The Party Ain't Over" - Wanda's new album Crabs - Wanda's old backing band was The black Crabs

A throne one cannot abdicate - "The Party Ain't Over" - Wanda's new album
I don't see how the title of her new album relates to that part of the clue. If anything, I would connect that part of the clue with the fact that Mr. Robert Zimmerman (aka Bob Dylan) was the one that called her the "Queen of Rockabilly."

Abdicating a thrown means to step down. "The party ain't over" means she is not stepping down/abdicating her thrown

True, I guess I was coming from the angle of if you're referred to as the Queen of Rockabilly by the likes of Bob Dylan, that's a quality that you can't shed or get rid of.

Neil Young backed by Pearl Jam
A Veteran - Pearl Jam played roo before
and Magistrate, or a character of sorts - Pearl Jam released an album titled "Riot Act", a Riot Act is a statute of 1715 by which persons committing a riot had to disperse within an hour of the reading of the act by a magistrate
A throne one cannot abdicate, of which a crab can make a fort. -
Young is often called the "Godfather of Grunge", a name that he can't give up nor can he be replaced.
Grunge - another word for dirt or soil, some crabs dig a hole or "fort" in the ground for protection.
Not happening, but thought it was a nice stretch and a dream
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
has prince been shot down yet? i definitely see that being the answer, the character thing i feel gives it away. i don't know how i feel about that though, i've heard good things but can't really imagine liking him too much.
What about Buckethead? He jammed w/ Les in 02', would that make him a veteran for Roo? Buckethead is his "character"? Also, I read someplace that crabs like to hang out in tide pools for the high plankton count. He has songs called Tide Pool, and Shell Substitution on his album Albino Slug. Maybe that's the crab fort reference?

Or a crab could make a fort out of a bucket left in the sand.

I know it's already been said but it seems pretty obvious to me that it's Queens of the Stone Age. Stone crabs are king crabs, king...queen... Just makes sense. And they are coming out with a new album this summer.

That would be tough considering the Foo Fighters will be at Isle of Wight on the 11th...

"A throne one cannot abdicate, of which a crab can make a fort."
To me this part isn't 2 seperate things but rather one in the same. Of which a crab can make a fort makes me think of a shell, and a throne one cannot abdicate makes me think of royalty. This leads me to the Conch shell which is commonly referred to as the "Queen Conch", this would apply to both parts no?
So this led me to think of someone who may play the conch shell as a musical instrument and I found this guy Steve Turre, www.spinner.com/2010/10/14/steve-turre/ " The trombonist got his start with Rahsaan Roland Kirk in 1970. From there, he quickly moved on to a flurry of people (including Van Morrison) before landing a Ray Charles world tour in 1972."
Not sure if this is anything or they would even book a guy like this. but it's at least a new way to look at things no? Let me know what you folks think.

BWAHAHA!!!
Some of the best guitar you'll ever see live, that's what you'll get if Prince is on the farm!

If Buckethead is there, it will be in the form of Praxis.....which will make me extremely happy! ;D
*Also Jen, google or youtube Praxis, from zee farm in 2004...then have your face melted off! *
