So i posted about needing a ride down to bonnaroo and me being a recovering addict was looking for some other clean people to take the ride with me and my girlfriend. Someone suggested making a thread to gather the people in recovery that go to roo, so this is what this is!
I would love to have some people to get together with while im down there, this will be my second year bonnaroo clean. Last year i didnt get to make any of the clean and sober groups that they have but am looking to get to those this year, also if i do end up finding someone to hitch a ride with and end up going, we should organize a meet up down in tennesee so we can get a bunch of people camping together.

I was watching the Bonnaroo DVD from 2002 and there was a group called "Clean and Sober" they would all go to shows together. They seemed like they were having a whole lot more fun than the "enhanced" people, and they said that people were coming up to them all the time asking them if they wanted to sell any of what they were on.
For the past two years (and as far as I know, for most of the past nine), the clean and sober crowd has been setting up at the coffee shop in Centeroo, not far from the main entrance. If I recall correctly, you take a left just after the first batch of food vendors (which are lined up facing each other as your walk in the main entrance), and then the coffee shop is right there on the left. There are generally yellow balloons (a signal from the Wharf Rat days, and since) and there will often some folks there to sign up. I have to say as an older guy, I had to work a little harder to engage some of those folks, but that's probably more my attitude than anything.
I'd be happy to exchange numbers with anyone who'd like to catch a sober set or two, or just to have coffee and stay clear of the temptation. Honestly, Roo sober has not been easy for me...I've been there sober the past two years, and been to every Roo except my first year sober in 2007. A lot of great memories both sober and not, and for that reason I really have to keep busy with sober activities at Roo. I do yoga (not a pretty sight) each morning, and try to get all the experiences I can...and I do a lot of dancing (again, not a pretty sight, as I do subscribe to dance like nobody's watching.)
Cheers with an overpriced fruit smoothie to you. I'm buying. Hoot

Hello to other Sober Roo Friends. This will be my second Roo in Recovery but my 5th consecutive Roo.
My girlfriend and I both plan on completely clean & sober festival. We will be at the Academy Tent every morning getting our spirits tuned for a sober day.
The Clean And Sober Groups mentioned on the mainpage will have a table near the Yellow Balloons at the Sonic Cafe near the Sonic Stage, in the heart of Centeroo.

Just coming from someone who never got into any of that, I wish you all the strength to stay clean. You won't be the only ones there who are having a great time with out the enhancements.
It's real easy to get squirrelly at 'roo, especially late at night when the tents are happening and everyone's guard is down. Where I come from, we share phone numbers, and I'm sharing mine. Call (or text) before you fall, 24/7. Hoot 803^331^0450
Good luck staying clean, friends. I am certainly going to drink and imbibe, but I have people close to me who are constantly fighting with their addictions. Good luck!
I myself will not be clean and sober at this years 'roo but i have the utmost respect for anyone who is doing this, props to those who are stronger than me. +1 to hoot for giving a helping hand. Have fun and stay safe!
