The Beastie Boys beating Herbie would indeed be a travesty. But I'm a hypocrite. I voted for Modest Mouse over Bob fucking Dylan. It's all personal taste and opinion.
THIS IS THE WEAKEST BRACKET (16)Grizzly Bear (8)String Cheese Incident (5)Jack Johnson (13)Herbie Hancock's Headhunters (6)James Brown (3)Neil Young (10)Robert Plant & Alison Krauss feat T-Bone Burnett (2)The Dead (all forms)
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
I certainly expected the Beastie Boys to beat Herbie, but I'd like to encourage those voting for the Beastie Boys to check out Herbie's rich, beautiful discography, if they haven't already, starting with the excellent Headhunters albums, but don't miss Empyrean Isles or Fat Albert Rotunda either. I'm sure the Beasties would vote for Herbie over themselves.
Well, in your case, I like for there to be something wrong with the world. That's not new, though...
this comment confuses me... do we have a history of not getting along that I'm not aware of? ???
No,no,no. You totally misunderstand. I'm just saying that we're both rallying for opposite victories... you say if Volta wins, there's something wrong. I say if that's wrong, then I like it, and there's nothing new to me liking what is "wrong".
Sarcastic, competitive, and pointless banter. I guess it was ill conceived on my part. Apologies.

I am pretty surprised by this too. Are this many people not familiar with Herbie Hancock!? That is pretty unfortunate for them, I guess I though he was more widely know, definitely bigger than Beastie Boys imo, and no doubt it was a better show too.
Totally. It's fucking Herbie Hancock... one of the most genius musicians of the past century... and the Beastie Boys are... cool, but... I mean, come on.

I'm the one that should apologize! I understand now and feel pretty silly for taking it personally. No worries

See, the thing is, Herbie Hancock is still a competent live performer. Whereas Bob Dylan...

Edit: and another vote for Beasties...
Herbie also has an awesome band that at bonnaroo included John Mayer just on guitar and minimal vocals, where he is best. I am voting more towards who do I think the bigger grab is for this thread (who makes my jaw drop more if I see them on the lineup for their first time), but HHH was on of the best roo shows I have ever seen.
