Many metal band's music that I prefer, but hell yes will I be at this show! I can only imagine this being fun as hell, I am glad superfly went out on a limb and booked them if true.
i like metal in general. however i don't like gimmicks when they only serve the purpose of distracting your from how bad the music is. maybe bam margera can come too and drive a hummer into the stage while they are at it. though i do think the mushroom spewing red would be hilarious. here's to hoping everyone who enjoys their shtick gets to do so while i am busy listening to musicians.
If you compare music to movies its like watching a horror/comedy (gwar). I cant watch the notebook over and over (coldplay). sometimes its best to watch all genres of movies

I don't want to believe this. I'm hoping he was just joking, I mean, it is the last place you would expect to see gwar. I've seen them in my younger days, it was pretty fun. I left the venue covered in the blood, pee, poop, and semen of many celebrities and political figures (sorry couldnt think of a cute and innocent word for semen, i guess thats a good thing though)
But overall, they just do NOT fit bonnaroo. They are not good musicians and sound like crap live, and Bonnaroo doesnt book bad musicians! I mean there have been a lot of bands that just werent my taste, but I can always respect them for being true musicians. But not Gwar, might as well book some other novelty act like ICP. Im gonna be pissed if gwar is there and not Tenacious D. At least Tenacious D play really good music while joking around

this will make me make sure I am on the farm in 2010. Never heard much of their music but that is not the point. It is about the performance and it is one I have missed a few times. will definitely be a gas.

Maybe the Superjam will be GWAR, Lady Gaga, and Jimmy Buffett so they can all ruin Bonnaroo together.

GWAR has been around for 20+ years. You don't do that with just a "shtick." Like I said, either you get it, or you don't. No need to be snobby about it. You clearly don't get it, so you can see one of the other numerous bands playing at the same time.

They will need more blood to shoot over the huge B-Roo crowds! I think this is an odd addition, but promises to be fun none the less. What better way to beat the Tennessee heat than with freezing cold Gwar blood!

yeah...pretty sure im gonna be skipping that one.
i hope they play during the day, just because i can only imagine whats gonna happen at the medical tent when its full of people freaking out and all of the sudden people start pouring in covered in blood.
other than that i like that they're playing. at bonnaroo you should be able to do absolutely whatever you want, and if that includes going to a show like that, you should have the option.

Oh man. The mosh pits at that show are pretty brutal too. I've gotten my nose broken.

i'm not being snobby, and telling me to go see other bands is kinda redundant since i already said that's what im gonna do. i don't care if they are there one way or the other, seeing them once was more than plenty. it's nothing more than shock rock taken to its logical extreme. if that gets you off, good for you.
I would say it's snobby to say that their stage show "only serve the purpose of distracting your from how bad the music is." Another instance of snobbery is calling everyone else musicians except for Gwar. But that's just me.

Not taking either side directly, but I do agree with hal to a degree. simply put: Their music pretty much sucks and their antics are awesome. Yes, theyre ridiculous. But it's FUN. And I can't wait to see them on the farm.

i've heard that kind of description for multiple bands that have played roo before. people have said stuff like the band isn't that great but the stage-show is the real attraction about gogol bordello and flaming lips...........so why not gwar as well? i see no problem
for the record - I don't think flaming lips or gogol suck. I love them both........but i have heard other people complain about their quality of music .vs. stage show
GWAR is a great find. Unless there is some horrendous conflict, I will most likely be at that show... just not in the first ten rows. Then again, a horrendous conflict does seem pretty likely, because I really can't picture them being anywhere but in a tent during late night. They're not big enough to hold down a stage past mid-afternoon, and their show is too much of a spectacle to be given a daytime slot.

All the people I talked to who saw Jimmy Buffett actually said it was a really good show, which honestly surprised me, but you really can't knock something till you've tried it. Gwar = Flips of metal. Everything people are saying about Gwar has been said about The Flaming Lips, and their shows are always some of the most highly spoke of. I have no doubt that if Gwar is in fact playing that it will be a packed show, which in my mind makes them an absolutely perfect band to play bonnaroo.

I'll go if there isnt a conflict as well... however a conflict should be defined as any band playing at the same time, a preoccupation in food, dont feel like walking, or an uninteresting conversation with a stranger
