yeah i was talking about Kiss with the # of albums.
And, you can like Kiss all you want, but if I ever went to a Kiss show it would be because i want to see explosions and a stage show, not because i think the music is going to blow me away. "i wanna rock and roll, all night! and party every day!"
yeah fun show im sure, but like i said.. its the makeup and fire that would draw me to it

Gwar would not fit just like Dillingers Escape Plan would not fit...wait...they did fit and were AWESOME!!!!
As for seeing Kiss, I have had the luxury of seeing them 8 times live (My mom is at 14 times) and trust me, the show and the music are BOTH amazing....

I'm with Pondo here. I saw Kiss for the first time this summer and it was awesome. Kiss can headline Bonnaroo, as far as I'm concerned.
I got a pair of tickets to the show for Mom's Mother's Day gift. Her first concert was Kiss in 77. She had to sneak out of the house to go, and said it was totally worth the grounding.

^^^ I was waiting for someone to bring that up it was a major point of anger and contention in the much less hospitable Gwar discussions of 2 or 3 years ago on here

I would wager a guess that the board's ratio of Garcia worshipers has decreased significantly in the past few years here. Either way, I hope they do. I think that would be pretty hilarious.
Maybe the Superjam will be GWAR, Lady Gaga, and Jimmy Buffett so they can all ruin Bonnaroo together.
All the people I talked to who saw Jimmy Buffett actually said it was a really good show, which honestly surprised me, but you really can't knock something till you've tried it. Gwar = Flips of metal. Everything people are saying about Gwar has been said about The Flaming Lips, and their shows are always some of the most highly spoke of. I have no doubt that if Gwar is in fact playing that it will be a packed show, which in my mind makes them an absolutely perfect band to play bonnaroo.
i was drunk and buffett was like a siren song.... great show
GWAR at Roo? fan-fucking-tastic! can't wait to see that sort of debacle unfold...
agree that they would have to be last on that stage for the night.
wish they had booked Lordi instead. better music, scarier costumes.
also, wrt the kiss debate - you really had to be there when they started. i saw them a few years back and it was terrible. we left early. buncha grandpas running around in tights spitting blood.
in 1975 it must have been amazing. in 200x, it was just sad. also, the music doesnt fit the look...

AWESOME!!! Not huge on their music, but I've really been wanting to catch their live show. And what better place than Bonnaroo? I can't wait to see my dad's reaction to this show

Why does everything have to be strictly about the music and if it fits into some archetype of what Bonnaroo is "supposed to be about"? I know it's a stretch, but the music might not be art, but surely the amount of effort and time they put into the live show is art, at the very least quality entertainment? You know you'll cheer if they pull out a Kanye blow up doll and decapitate it on stage. That's another thing I look forward to, everyone complaining about their "violent" stage show.
Their show works best in a small setting though. Maybe they'll keep the metal tent from this year, and they'll be the headliner.
This is similar to what I was thinking. A late night spot would be great, but GWAR would also work as a sunday evening tent closer. If Roo repeats the Sunday metal tent, GWAR should definitely close that out.

Some of you guys kill me. Wether you like them or not, they have been around for 25 years, surviving without radio or video exposure, and have been nominated for 2 grammys. They are straight-up, no-doubt-about-it, 100% bonafide legends in the hardcore music/cultural field. Yeah, they are a joke. They'll be the first to admit it, but they're also expert rock n' roll satirists who have their fingers pressed much tighter on the pulse of popular culture than almost anyone else around. People try to lump them in with bands like Slipknot, Lordi or ICP, but those groups are nothing more than ridiculous afterthoughts, poorly done recreations and second-generation imitations of their real targets: Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne and KISS. Maybe they're not the best band in the world, but they are nowhere near as bad as some of you guys seem to think. It should go without saying, but there are going to be a bunch of post-Roo posts about how they were "misjudged", "actually pretty good", "better than I'd remembered", "so fun" and, yes, even "the high point of the weekend". Quote me on that. Think about it, folks. It's always, ALWAYS the bands that get this kind of debate going that end-up being the most memorable every year. That tent will be absoultely fucking overflowing. Most of you detractors will end-up saying "What the fuck?" and stop by to see what all of the hype is about. Hype that was created by the very same people. Then you'll get caught up in the crowd and the fun and the energy...and voila!...you will have been Radioheaded. Sadly, many of you will never realize the irony of what has happened, but it doesn't matter. You will have your "I saw GWAR" story and you will continue on with your life, never acknowledging that either you were wrong or you were played.
And the idea that, druqks or not, anyone will be freaked out by "stumbling" into the carnage and gore is beyong stupid. If you are capable of getting so messed-up that you might mistake their props or costumes or stage show for anything more than cartoonish mischief, you have absolutely no right whatsoever to be ingesting anything at all...ever. A simple rule of thumb: If you ever got scared by Tom & Jerry or The 3 Stooges, GWAR may be too heavy for you.....And you are a MORON!
Can't stand ICP or Lordi, hell I barely like Gwar but Slipknot actually is decent talent.
Having seen all 4 that you've named in concert I will go with ICP as being the funnest show out of them, second goes to Gwar. I seen Lordi at the free Ozzfest as well and you probably couldn't pay me to see them again.

This is so random. I wonder if it'll come to fruition.
I'd probably check them out for a little while. Never did see them, but a friend of mine from high school was a GWAR roadie for several years, so I'd be curious to go and see what it's all about.

gatheringking why are you so hostile?
i think most people would be absofuckinglutely terrified to be hanging out with lucy and see them play. i would run screaming.
and i don't feel like bonnaroo is the place for gwar visuals what-so-ever. give me some colorful lights. some flashing lights. some fireworks. lasers. etc. not fake beheadings and blood.

oh you take lucy. wow cool. thats awesome. but for everyone who doesnt want to just stare at a strobe light for 5 hours gwar would be a pretty cool change of pace.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Random question, since I know we're from (relatively) the same neck of the woods... did this person happen to be a guy named Troy preferring you say it Traw?

Nah, different guy...but I think it's kinda funny. Apparently we come from a GWAR-loving region
Nope. An acquaintance from my high school wound up following GWAR around in some capacity. Not sure if he was a groupie or a roadie. Avocadolady & I both originally hail from between Madison & Milwaukee. This Traw guy I was asking about wound up getting expelled from my high school (kicked a teacher in the nuts when he got busted skipping out) and finishing elsewhere closer to Milwaukee, so it was entirely possible she could've been talking about the same guy.

Oh dear. I've been schooled by the almighty Gatheringking! I don't know, man. I've seen some folks out of their bloody mind on the farm. But, obviously, YOU know best.

To infinity and beyong! Also, it isn't nice to call other people names.
Oh God... I just realized there's probably a good chance of actually running into Traw if I go to this show
Ran into him twice since high school.
Once in 04, at a Rancid set at Warped tour. This was the encounter that inspired me to ask the question. He had been on tour with GWAR and was quite boastful about doing lots of blow and sleeping with the groupies they wouldn't have. I couldn't remember if he was actually a roadie, or just along for the ride.
Ran into him a couple months ago at the bartime diner in my hometown. He was quite intoxicated celebrating his birthday, with missing teeth and a beard that could probably house a bird. I tried keeping the conversation as brief as possible.
