i was never a u2 fan either but "it might get loud" also made me excited about at least seeing the edge. i've always hated him and his stupid hat, and thought bono was a Summer's breeze. but in retrospect, i think i just hated seeing him all the time being praised on tv and the news. he was rock music's tim tebow. but i live in gainesville. and i like tim tebow. i think i can grow to like bono as well
even though i know "radiohead, u2, daft punk, gorillaz, arcade fire" would be very improbable, it fits the clues of old school band (u2) and band that wasn't around ten years ago (gorillaz and arcade fire). and as much as this board love radiohead and daft punk, if they really do read this like we think they do, ONE of these two HAS to be at least actively sought after every year. i mean thom himself even said bonnaroo was one of the greatest radiohead performances ever. with a new cd being recorded this month, whats stopping them from returning?
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
or even better: radiohead, daft punk, dmb, gorillaz, arcade fire. dmb is still "old school" in the sense that they've been headliners before and also takes care of the standard jammy headliner.
gorillaz into daft punk late night friday arcade fire into radiohead or arcade fire late night saturday dmb sunday (maybe someone like further as preheadliner)
im really drawing at straws and wishful thinking, but gorillaz, radiohead, and arcade fire all are working on albums and dmb just released their latest this year. daft punk truly is just a prayer

I watched that today too, and also gained new respect for Edge.
Friday Night- Kings Of Leon Sat - Hootie and the Blowfish Sun- U2
Those are your headliners. and dont get mad at me cause im more upset about it than you are
Come on dude. I hope there is some sarcasm in this post. Hootie and the Blowfish aren't even together anymore. If you're going to spread false rumors, at least make them plausible...

no need for me to interpret, Jakicker my brah. What you posted about U2 was true open-mind and fully spot-on. Your proposed "Big 5" would dust everyone and tinkle on '09 (which was an epic 'Roo, for sure.)
Gorillaz/U2/Arcade/Pavement could conceivably cleanse the harsh aftertaste of gaga-gwar. Beck would help. Radiohead alone can ensure in perpituity.
wow thanks for making me feel a lot better about roo. i mean nothing against soundgarden, DMB, or lady gaga....but there was so much talk that i felt that maybe that WAS going to be the lineup which made me sort of feel....left out. i know id have a blast and they are all great but none of them grabbed me as "THE" band for roo this year. radiohead, arcadefire OR U2 would be "THE" band to anchor me back into living for june.
me and unclekev are going to lead the maybe brigade all the way til early february. we're working our ways out of a big recession, its time to think optimistically for a little while.
but speaking on the fact that we really know nothing of true substance about the headliners at this point, which is hardly ever the case for bonnaroo, it not only leaves things wide open but makes you really wonder if its in acsuperflys best interest to keep this charade going. let me explain a little
keeping a tight lip has caused this board to go into a frenzy of speculation. we know nothing yet everyone has their theories. that kind of anticipation is very big for building a buzz. but what isnt working out is that much of our speculation has lead roo goers to fear the worst in terms of who will actually be at bonnaroo.
people are afraid of unqualified headliners people are afraid coachella is going to steal all the best bands people are afraid that this year will not live up to last year
i think ac/superfly needs to do something, ANYTHING, to get people positive again before this gets any uglier

Please listen to 25, he speaks calmly and truthfully.
Most of the names on these lists are based on virtually nothing. A few wishes, some openings in tours and what we all perceive as the history of Roo. Add process of elimination as other festivals announce their lineups and we start to freak out a bit.
Some of them will definitely be right but without clues to work from or the leaks that are usually around by now they are speculation.
We all have our wish lists, I know I have mine but after last year (for me at least) and the hopes for Clapton and I can't even remember who else, I read and watch and wait until we get SOME info.
Remember, even if the headliner isn't your favorite you will have the time of your life and I promise you'll find someone new that you're telling all your friends about later. Me, I napped through Metallica so I could be sure to catch Superjam.

Swap The Who with Paul McCartney now that Ringo's planning a tour and we can get a Beatle superjam going and your lead guy is good to go.
Swap RHCP with Stevie Wonder and let Stevie headline while RHCP play Beasties spot as they are similar sized bands and that's good to go.
Throw out Lady Gaga and put in a legend in the Al Green spot and you're good to go.
All are just my opinions.
edit: What about MMJ? Also, the legends could be Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, or Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band.
