This is really sad. There was a man in a tent right in front of ours who OD'd on heroine Saturday morning. I think he was conscious when EMS took him out. His friend and wife stayed and partied on, though. I know they were selling smack out of their car and never left the tent/car all weekend. Hope this incident wasn't heroine related, too.

nice friends and wife
That is fukked up. If a family member of mine died, my Roo would be over.
kinda beat. I saw some medics working on a guy by porta potties one day, and I saw 3 guys drag a dude out on their shoulders from the MGMT show...he looked very stiff and uncool. keep control people...

Holy crap we were right in front of you guys as well! We were the group closest to the toilets. I thought thats what this article was about but guess it was someone else. It was sad to see the guy that was half in and out of the tent and the one guy flipping out but when it comes down to it they really only seemed to care about the drugs from the looks of it, I mean they stayed the night after there supposed friend just got rushed off to the hospital! One of our friends who was an EMT tried to help before the medics got there and he told us he was probably going to die, very shocking that they revived him.

doesn't surprise me, I was there and actually crowd surfed my way to the center of the stage but that show was amazingly packed.
Sucks for that guy, hopefully they have more news about it later on. It wouldn't shock me if it was an OD considering the amount of illegal substances I saw at 'roo this year, way more than last year IMO. It would suck extra hard though it there was some foul play, especially considering how everyone there helps each other out. I actually helped some people get out of a ditch they were stuck in near the main entrance and it felt so good.

No shiz! That is ridiculous! Even if my husband got hurt just a little I would go with him to the hospital. Some people are just sick in the head, I suppose.
man this sucks. i feel for him and his loved ones. that story about the h addicts is real fucked up though, i hate that people bring that shit around festivals
kinda makes me think of the kids next to us who just kept talkin bout doin 3 different things at once. they kept braggin bout it, i wanted to shoot myself, sorry that isnt something that sounds really fun to me. it sounds stupid and a little like overkill. why not get the full effect at different times.

As my Anatomy and Physiology teacher says: "Don't say "No" to drugs. Simply "know" your drugs" Study what you put into your body to the fullest extent and never over do it. Whether this be alcohol or shrooms, know your drug.
It is sad, but people are jumping to conclusions I think for all we know he was allergic to bee stings, or was a diabetic and let his insulin get warm, and his blood sugar off. I think it is highly unlikely someone OD'd after 3 on monday afternoon.

Thursday, June 18, 2009 , 3:26 p.m. Sheriff identifies body of man found at Bonnaroo campsite
Coffee County Sheriff Steve Graves said the body found at the Bonnaroo campsite Tuesday has been identified as a 26-year-old Fort Payne, Ala., man.
Matthew Lands was identified through fingerprint analysis Thursday. The family was notified at 1 p.m. CDT.
Preliminary autopsy reports from the Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville did not determine a cause of death, the sheriff said.
Toxicology report results could take one to two weeks, he said.
Mr. Lands body was found in a single-person tent at around noon CDT Tuesday near a black pickup truck belonging to his father Perry Lands as cleaning crew employees worked in the area.
Matthew Lands’ body is still being examined at the office in Nashville.
He is at least the sixth person to die at the annual music and arts festival since it began in 2002.

not highly unlikely... just think - "Oh hey, I have all these party favors left and I don't want to travel with them, lets just do them all and chill in the tent for a while.."
this wouldn't surprise me at all.. But I do agree with the fact that we may just be jumping to conclusions. But either way, this man has passed and it is absolutely horrible, and to think that he was all alone and without people wondering where he was, makes me sick.

Wow, that's sad to think that someone who is a frequent poster-someone who should know almost everything about surviving the fest- would get out of control like that. Was it an OD or something else?
"Sheriff Graves said a medic spoke with the man, who was white and in his 20s, about 3 p.m. Monday. Cleaning workers found the body about noon Tuesday."
this makes me believe he knew something was wrong.. why else would he talk to a medic?

^^Which means that it could be health related and not drug related or......I guess maybe he knew he was ODing. If that's the case, the medic is responsible.

The article that was posted overnight indicated that the site had been searched and that they believe it was vacant but his tent was next to a truck. Nobody would leave a truck behind so I'm wondering if it was a volunteer who was supposed to still be there?
man this is very sad now that it was a volunteer. i agree with a prev poster who said he had many party favors and didnt want to leave them at the farm
BTW, I know that now we know the guy's identity and it's not this kid, but did anyone stumble across the kid that the main Bonnaroo board are posting about, Ian? I guess his family is looking for him, his "friends" left him behind. In the pic they posted, he looks like he's in high school prom gear, so he must be pretty young. I only read about it because my mom freaked out a little bit when my phone died and her silly mom-logic told her I'd be on the internet at roo without my phone, so she was posting there trying to get us to call her. Seems sad, he was last seen holding a sign asking for a ride to Delaware.

This is sad. What's even sadder is how a lot of people are still assuming that this guy just OD'd and crawled in his tent to die. If he talked to medics knowing he was ODing do you really think the medic would tell him "oh just go zip yourself up in your tent and lie down for a while"
C'mon people, have some sense. I think it really points to this guy wasn't feeling so hot and his body wasn't functioning properly. ASSuming this guy was just some fool that swallowed all his leftover party favors and died is almost disrespectful, I feel.

Agreed. We don't know, the police don't know, and the press doesn't know the real reason behind the late Mr. Lands' death. If we're going to assume anything, we should assume that he got dehydrated and overheated. Assuming the worst about one of our own doesn't speak very well of us, does it? On another note, I was glad to read that the arrest quotient was considerably lower this year. I tried to find some statistics on arrests during the CMA Music Festival, which were assumably much higher, but I also assume that they don't like to report such things for Music Row's cash cow.
