Femi Kuti and the Positive Force! Hands down my favorite show of the weekend. Plus I was easily able to get up front, I guess everybody else was gone phishin'
Cage the Elephant! I had listened to their music but never seen what they looked like, or how they performed... If I would have seen them before hand I might have passed because I'm not really into that type of scene. BUT again Bonnaroo has allowed me to expand my musical boundaries! I was sooo close for this set because it was almost empty at the start. It rocked my world, and I think it was the ONLY show I didn't look at my watch once!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
It's funny but really the two bands that surprised me most were NIN and Passion Pit, the former being the best show I saw all weekend. Both shows were crowded and had enthusiastic crowds and fans, so I don't think you could really call them sleepers.
I'd say if we're going by attendance that should have been higher than it was, AA Bondy and Amadou & Mariam easily take the cake. Both put on great shows to enthusiastic crowds that weren't quite as big as they should have been.

then I would have to say the David Grisman Quintet. One of the very best shows of the weekend, and pretty much no one there. Tough to go up against Wilco, Volta and Elvis, but this show was amazing and could stand up to any of those.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
also going with bon iver. love the album but the live show was so much more than i expected
I would have put Bon Iver as my runner up, but I expected great things from them after watching so many damn youtube videos of them. Their songs on Blogotheque are in-effing-credible..
Grace Potter knocked me off my feet. Totally wasn't expecting her to have an impact on my Roo, but I'm sure glad she did.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey

I dragged my girlfriend to this and she was unsure at first but was blown away. Femi Kuti and his band were amazing. Best show for me of the weekend hands down.

Todd Snider absolutely my favorite among the acts I'd never seen before. His stories were as good as his tunes. Also really enjoyed Alejandro Escovedo and Alberta Cross.

The Mars Volta
I always felt like everyone was into them except me. I tried to like their albums, but had a hard time getting the whole way through. Then, after a lukewarm Mule show (made better by a fine ass Grace Potter gracing the stage), I had such a good spot that I decided to axe Grisman and stay at Which for TMV. One of the best decisions I've ever made. The energy I was getting from the band, being that close, was INSANE and the fans were into it enough for me to do have no problem doing my move, the mouthing along to words that I don't know. I'm now fully a fan and I've already listened to Bedlam in Goliath all the way through...it's the tits.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
