I had a wonderful Burt and Ernie Christmas style exchange recently. Thanks to this awesome event I've acquired:
Wilco-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Wilco-A Ghost is Born Neil Young-After the Gold Rush Simon and Garfunkel-Greatest Hits George Harrison-All Things Must Pass Crosby Stills Nash and Young-So Far Journey-Frontiers (so I can sing into my beer bottle some more!) The Rolling Stones-Goats Head Soup The Beatles-A Hard Day's Night Cat Stevens-Teaser and the Firecat Pink Floyd-Animals Pink Floyd-Atom Heart Mother Yeah Yeah Yeahs-Show Your Bones Kansas-Point of Know Return
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

No worries Zapp. I hadn't given it much thought. Many thanks for the effort though.
Recent finds: Found a copy of The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out! @ work a few days ago. Snatched that one up and its been on the deck constantly for the last few days.
karosko, didn't I read somewheres on here that you work at a record store? Can you give any details on the upcoming Record Store Day? I'm interested in pickin' up The Black Crowes vinyl to be issued that day, but that will depend on the tracklist and I'm seein' conflictin' opinions (no facts yet) on what will actually be on it.

Here is the info I have on that piece, Dan: It's going to be a 10-inch picture disc and it's going to have "Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys" on side A and "Remedy" (acoustic live) on Side B. I'm not sure if those are the only tracks on it, but it looks like they are.
We'll be selling on Black Friday when we open. Past Record Store Days have been nuts at 10 am, when we open (this past year, lines started forming at 9), but this isn't a full-fledged Record Store Day, just a special Black Friday thing presented by the people who do Record Store Day. Still, if you really want a copy, I would still get here (or whatever record store you shop at) at 10 AM when we open. Might not end up being necessary, though.
Anyone know when the reissues of the first three White Stripes records are coming out? Are they only gonna be available via Third Man Records?
So far all I've seen about that is the scroll at the top of the 3rd man site and its been there for months. I'm eager to know s well so I can finally get a copy of White Blood Cells for a reasonable price. Unless its a limited edition thing I think they'll be in stores as well.
scottuca03: nice find on the Freak Out. One of my all-time favorites. I have a stereo and a (1st pressing) mono copy.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I wish I had more money. Not going to get these cuz of the cost. I'm also looking forward to the 3 releases of the first White Stripes albums on vinyl tho
Recently got LCD Soundsystem by LCD Soundsystem. I also want to know when they're releasing those White Stripes albums because I really want De Stijl on vinyl.

Damn, that's what I saw on their message board. Makes no sense though since The Crowes don't have a song titled "Say Goodnight To the Bad Guys," at least not one anyone has ever heard about ever. Although that is the name of their current tour. The mystery continues... Thanks anyway! And what store do you work at down there? Wish I hadn't moved away from the area, but I'm lookin' ta get back into school so it was time ta go.

I was really considering trying to save up for The White Stripes package until I realized it didn't have their records in it. That's stupid. If it included their catalog on vinyl for that price, it'd be a lot better.

^^^^^ I think a big part of that price is the headphones. Nixon Master Blasters retail for $200 w/o any custom Jack White stuff. That does look badass, but I already got the Third Man headphones. That should be enough for me till those White Stripes reissues.

That's what i've been hearing when people were talking about this on other forums.
I guess it's okay for a starter kit for records (which is the goal with at least the TMR set) but still - 500 is steep. I plan on getting one of the boxes for 45's though.

I found my big Christmas present this year.
West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology tracks Hendrix's remarkable journey from little known R&B sideman to international stardom through an unprecedented assemblage of previously unavailable recordings.
This long-awaited career-spanning box set is not a collection of existing Jimi Hendrix albums but instead 45 unreleased Jimi Hendrix live and studio recordings including demos and alternate versions of songs from Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, and Electric Ladyland. West Coast Seattle Boy includes Hendrix's never before heard version of Bob Dylan's "Tears Of Rage," solo acoustic recordings of Electric Ladyland favorites like "Long Hot Summer Night" and "1983 (A Merman I Shall Turn To Be)"as well as never before heard live performances from Berkeley and the legendary Band Of Gypsys Fillmore East concert on New Year's Eve 1969 combined together with }such new Hendrix songs as "Hear My Freedom," "Hound Dog Blues," "Lonely Avenue" and more.
The crown jewel of Legacy Recordings' monumental Jimi Hendrix catalog project, West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology is the first Hendrix collection to bring fans access to a comprehensive treasure trove of previously unreleased recordings -- including demos, alternate takes, live concert jewels and more -- from all phases of the artist's recording career (1964 -1970).
West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology offers the most complete collection of Jimi's pre-Experience R&B performances (including his singles with the Isley Brothers, Little Richard, Don Covay, King Curtis and more) to ever be officially anthologized while bringing together the most comprehensive and revelatory set of unreleased, fully realized songs, never before heard live performances, alternate studio takes, acoustic and electric demos and other rarities drawn from every chapter of Jimi Hendrix remarkable life and career.

Yeah.....this is what I want. It comes either as a CD/DVD package or a Vinyl LP package. I don't think the DVD comes with the Vinyl package but I think I'll go for the records anyway. $100 isn't that bad for this.[/b]
Like LLL, I had a recent exchange to start my collection.
