You bet (welcome)
A buddy said Hoist was up on Amazon briefly for PO, but they took it down. I would imagine May or June for Dry Goods.
I see five things there I want, with the rough price in USD based on the Euro price (I'm setting the bar high so I feel better when I spend less than this estimate)
Cheap Trick ($48) The Go! Team ($34) METZ/Mission of Burma ($14) Soviet Kitsch ($32) Sun Ra ($41)
and maybe
Dogfish Head's Music to Drink Beer to Vol. 2 ($32) Mystery side-by-side ($14)
all of that would cost me $215 if I were shopping in Europe. Let's hope that's more like $150 in AMERICA
New King Gizz preorder goes live March 9th at 9am (local Aussie time, AEDT). That's 4pm central, the day before here.
Oh sweet heavens that cover is fucking wicked!
Quick question. In your experience with pre-ordering vinyls, when do they usually arrive in regards to the release date? Before or after or about right on time? The rumor going around is that the release date is April 29. I'm guessing it probably depends on shipping distance and whatnot.
I've never pre-ordered one, but I've always wanted to experience a new album for the first time on wax before I've ever heard it any other way. It's kinda a big investment to drop however much dough the vinyl is when you've never heard the record and might not like it, but I have supreme confidence in the Gizz. And the stuff we've heard about this record makes it seem like it's going to be pure heavy psych excellence. It will probably be impossible to not listen to it if the vinyl doesn't get here before it drops digitally.
Anyways, thanks for the heads up, I know what I'll be doing on the 8th at 4pm. I literally can't wait for this thing. Probably my most anticipated album of the year (other than Radiohead, of course).

Typically when I've pre-ordered vinyl, it arrives a day or so before the official date. Only time I remember getting one after is when there's been manufacturing delays.
However, all of this is talking domestic releases. If previous releases from King Gizz are any indication, they'll have separate releases for the US, Europe, and Aus. There will usually be some sort of limited release stateside (Castleface did the last few), but the first and most limited release will likely be Aussie only. Actually, they might have put the pre-order up for Paper Mache for all regions at the same time.
When I've ordered records from them in the past that ship from Aus, they obviously take an extra week or two to get here. And one time shipped all the way in a pizza box!
So if you want the more rare version of the record (and often the coolest looking variant), you'll have to wait an extra week or two for the Aus version to reach you (and pay a bit more for shipping). Or you can order the eventual US option and have it on the release date. But the digital version will always be available first.
And ya, I have no doubt that this album is going to be amazing. From the cover, it has obvious ties to Mind Fuzz. And what I've heard live has been fucking wild.
I'm pretty sure on that 4pm central time conversion, but I'd double check that as we get closer. Central is -6 UTC, and I believe their time zone is +11 UTC, meaning they're 17 hours ahead of us.

Good deal, thanks for the knowledge.
I remember that the new stuff they played live was insane, it got the crowd more worked up than anything. I definitely recognized Gamma Knife from the crazy little preview video they put out.
Sidenote: I just went and checked the setlists they've been playing recently, and they're now doing something that I always hoped they would do; closing the set with the 'Mind Fuzz' Medley. They've been opening the set with that for a while now, and both times I saw them the crowd didn't quite get into as quickly as they should have (although the Bonnaroo set is understandable since it was hot as hell). Playing that at the end of the set, when the crowd is already good and worked up, is going to be fucking bonkers.
Also, saw that they showed up as a surprise opener for one of Thee Oh Sees' Australian shows in January, and yeah it obviously sucks that I wasn't there, but ultimately, I'm just fucking ecstatic about that actually happening. I'm sure Dwyer was giving the Gizzards some sage advice.
Redman's Meth somehow the US version of the King Gizz preorder is up! I just stumbled upon it checking, just in case. It allowed me to order the picture disc version, said only 250 of those are available online. Get going!
It looks like the Aussie pre-order still isn't showing up yet. Curious to see what they have offered.
The US gets a normal green/black splatter. And then the limited die cut nonagon picture disc version. The UK looks like it gets just a black version at this point.

I guess this isn't the heavy album they were talking about.
I got the picture disc from the United States page limited to 1,500 and the gatefold that just went up in Australia limited to 1,500. Cost about $100 for both but their Lp's only go up in price, so worth the investment. On the bandcamp page someone commented that they heard 5 of these songs live and it's definitely their loudest!

Depends on the label. Some are on point and ship it when it should be released. Some get back up due to the demand now of pressing plants. Most of the time, unless it's from a smaller label, it's on time or when they say it'll be. For instance the picture discs for this release are gonna take longer and not come out till may/june they said but the other versions will arrive on time. Sites like Mondo and Waxwork records though seem to always take about a month longer then they say because of the art packagin they include. Sometimes it can be a handmade case for the vinyl also or handpoured wax which can lead to delays. I got into collecting records about 5 years ago and havent looked back. Make sure you are playing them on a good turntable sytem or it's pointless. Don't be the hipster with a cheap suitcase player from Urban Outfitters and expect a better sound. That is pointless and pretentious and a waste of time and money. Just download it at the point. Don't fall for the cheap way out. If you have spent at least $500 on your complete setup, don't buy vinyl.

I got a Audio-Technica AT-LP-120 for about $250 bucks, and it sounds fantastic. So I don't really know what your talking about that you have to spend $500+, unless your including the sound system.

I got into vinyl because I was flat broke and Craigslist and thrift stores were littered with interesting old albums for practically nothing. There's so much great motown/country/AOR tucked away in dollar bins that no one is listening to and can bring you just as much enjoyment as some bullshit $50 artisanal picture disc.

Also, Rothric hooked me the fuck up with all these primo old Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton albums. It's all dollar bin stuff, but there's top-notch songwriting/musicianship/recording quality on all those albums.
I usually go for normal vinyl unless it's a band I really, really love... with that said, I support unique and limited edition vinyl if that's what you're into. Even if it might not be my thing... it gives musicians, record companies, and artists the artistic freedom to try new stuff and to think outside of the box.
I am for it as long as they release a normal priced, black vinyl version for people like me who can't afford the expensive stuff.

ITT: The guy who wastes all his money on tchotchke-filled limited edition vinyl lectures other people on being pretentious hipsters.
I flip most of that expensive stuff to the pretentious hipsters and only keep that limited stuff of my favorite groups or artists. I'm mostly into building a huge collection by shopping for $3-$5 records at shows or thrift/record stores. Some of the limited stuff I keep for groups I feel will get bigger then they are. Records hold their value pretty well.
