The Modest Mouse and Brand New tour got announced. How many of these dates are you seriously considering going to?
Obviously MSG because Brand New is closing that one. Also considering Mansfield and Philly.
I also have every finger and toe crossed that they throw in an Ommegang date, but I doubt it's going to happen (unless it's July 17th or 18th). Dan Smalls, hear my prayer.*
*he is the promoter that puts together the Ommegang concert series every summer.
Ideal toppings for cheese fries/nachos other than cheese? - Bacon. More cheese. Hot sauce!
If you could be any part human/part animal type creature (like a mermaid or centaur) which would you choose? - Hmmmmm.... Probably a mermaid. It's pretty hard to get me out of the water when I'm at the pool or ocean.
How do you feel about milk coming in bags? It's weird right? - It's weird but more environmentally friendly, I guess? I don't know. Do you keep it in the bag or pour it into a pitcher when you get home? If you keep it in the bag, then it's definitely really weird.
Follow up question, what's the best and worst thing about Canada? - I've never been to Canada, despite having "Canadian" heritage. My dad's side is from Quebec and, if you didn't know, French Canadians are the WORST (Except my dad and his fam, they are awesome). But they did create Poutine, so...
Whiskey of choice? - If I'm feeling cheap and/or will be mixing it with ginger ale: Seagrams (I said cheap, okay?), Jack or Jameson. If I'm drinking it straight: Jameson, Woodford Reserve, or a good Rye. Even Jack, we have a long history and I'm not exactly classy. For the record: I am not picky when it comes to whiskey. Pour it into a glass, tell me it's whiskey, and I'll drink it.
Do you make more important decisions with your head or your heart? - My head often prevails. Like when the heart tells you to quit your job without any prospects and your head chimes in with "That's dumb. Do not do that. You should definitely quit, but find a new job first, dummy."
Lastly, and most importantly, do you prefer big black cats or wild horses? - Uhhhh.... Wild horses. I feel like this was a veiled music question and I don't know any songs about big black cats.

have you ever tried making vegetable purees and baking them into delicious things like cakes or pastries? There is a cook book at my house from jessica seinfeld who makes all these dishes using different vegetable/fruit pureee mixes to trick her kids into eating healthier. I figure maybe someone with some culinary skillz may be able to really pull it off.

I've never tried that actually. Sounds like what my mom used to do when I was little to trick me into eating veggies.
It's definitely something I'd do with fruit though. I make a white cake with blackberries, raspberries and blueberries in it then frosted with a lemon french buttercream. This makes me want to try it with all the berries pureed and swirled through, like a marble cake.
Does she use the veggies/fruits as a substitute for any ingredients or are they just an addition?

they are mostly an addition. it came to mind because we tried to make these cupcakes the other day, and it had the traditional cupcake type stuff (sugar, flour, etc) but also a puree made out of spinach and blueberries. and they had a cream cheese frosting that was basically like a normal cream cheese frosting, but added a squash puree.
we didn't have squash though, so my roommate used cauliflower. I made some awesome garlic-mashed-cauliflower-imitation-potatoes the other day so she thought cauliflower may work. it didn't. it ruined EVERYTHING. but the spinach/blueberry/cupcake batter tasted great licked off the mixer.
What is the most tragic band break up? - I'm going with Talking Heads. I can't imagine feeling that much animosity towards someone as the rest of the band feels toward David Byrne. No one died, but it sure feels like it when you read some of the articles about the end of Talking Heads.
What band should have called it quits but hasn't? - Metallica.
Have you ever been in any organized sport? If so which? - Yes! I grew up playing soccer, basketball, and softball. I stopped soccer after 8th grade. I played basketball until my junior year of high school and softball until I was 23. I miss basketball and softball the most. I tried joining a beer league for softball, but it's too non-competitive for me. I get SUPER competitive and beer league softball is not the place for that.
Favorite Simpsons episode? - I didn't grow up in a Simpsons household. Watched it once in a while. I'm more of a South Park gal.
Which Game of Thrones house would you belong to? - This is difficult. There's so many! Definitely a Northern house, but not House Bolton. Probably House Manderly. I like that them and their pies.
What artist or band do you wish more people knew? - San Fermin. This is their Tiny Desk Concert:
I first heard of them when they opened for Courtney Barnett and they blew me away. I think they are so fucking good.
Would you rather fly or be invisible? Why? - Fly. I could get everywhere a little faster/easier. Being invisible has a lot of negatives. Like overhearing conversations and possibly hearing terrible things about yourself or someone you care about. Flying is cooler.
I think I was asking as, if you or a family member had gone there or not. Did you go to Siena, or somewhere else? - Ah, gotcha. No one in my family went to Siena. We're just avid fans of their men's basketball program.
Do you like trains? - I do. Although, I've only ever been on the Metro North and subways.
Are there any types of questions you are surprised you haven't been asked? - no, not really.
Do you feel you dodged a bullet from us, in terms of what and how much we asked? - No, I mean it was the holidays and I believe that we all have lives outside of the interwebs. I liked the Chuck Klosterman questions Nico asked. Steph threw me some doozies. I got the dreaded Radiohead question and I hope you guys did not judge me too harshly for my response.
If you see this tomorrow morning, who is next? - Katy Mae, come on down!
Katy Mae , will you make me another lobster roll? Pretty please.
The next time we're together, I will make it happen. Although, as a New Englander, I want to point out that what I made you was a sandwich, and not a roll. There is a very big difference.
10 years ago when we were looking to buy a house, Springfield had the cheapest houses and Jessup had just graduated from STCC, so the area made sense. We bought it right before the housing bubble burst, so now the house is worth a lot less than we paid for it, so we're kinda stuck here. Believe me, I would rather be anywhere else.

If you're upside down short sales might be a good option

What band should have called it quits but hasn't?
Most overrated band on this board?
Most underrated band on this board?

What is the most tragic band break up? Talking Heads, obv
What band should have called it quits but hasn't? Weezer, oh god It's unlistenable now
Most overrated band on this board? My Morning Jacket, 100%. I think they're alright, but they're not gods.
Most underrated band on this board? I honestly don't know, maybe Hozier? People hate that guy but everytime I've seen him his live sets have been very tight
Have you ever been in any organized sport? If so which? I did soccer as a child and was a competitive swimmer until I hit maturity and was told boobs and swimming don't mix.
Favorite Simpsons episode? Homer at the Bat, no question. "Do you want to know the terrifying truth, or do you want to see me sock a few dingers?" "DINGERS, DINGERS!"
Nsync or Backstreet Boys? It's *NSYNC, gosh.
What artist or band do you wish more people knew? Townes Van Zandt. His story is so tragic, and his music is so raw and his songwriting is maybe the best of the 20th century.
Would you rather fly or be invisible? Why? Fly! I hate spending money on air travel.

If I remember right, the quote you listed isn't from Homer At The Bat but another episode about 10 years later.

You're completely right, I got the titles confused for some reason.

I really need to cut down on the corn, because I realize I meant Homer at Bat, and it's the scene I quoted that I was confused about. Fuck.
Safe to presume The Simpsons is one of your all time favorites?
When do you think is the turning point for the series? Has it gotten any better, in your mind?
Honestly no, I wouldn't call it one of my all time favorites. I like it, but mainly only the older stuff. It's one of my fiances all time favorites though, so I end up watching a good amount of it.
