What are blurgh and sickity sick? words used to express disdain or grossedoutness. haha
Do you know where the world's largest frying pan is? i didn't off the top of my head, so i googled that shiz. there seems to be some disagreement (esp when you start looking at working pans vs decorative pans) but it says long beach washington?? who knew there were so many giant frying pans.
Did you know we have an extra bedroom for those on the frying pan pilgrimage? yesssss me and abra will thelma and louise our way there. will you go see it with us? will you take a picture of me if i dress in a suit of bacon and pretend to fry in the pan?
Here's the pan - about an hour from us in Rose Hill NC. Cute little winery that gives free tours and samples as well
i bumped the shit out of jump, jump and i missed the bus when i was around 7. i loved kris kross so hard and tried to get my mom to braid my hair in an african american style multiple times. i'm pretty sure my mom threw the tape in the trash and told me the dog ate it.
Bill Nye, Lavar Burton, and Mr. Rogers. F*ck/Kill/Marry
fuck lavar burton/kill the science guy/marry mr rogers
mr rogers would be really good at taking care of you when you got sick and he would sing you songs at bedtime. bill nye is awesome but i would never bang him and he would probably annoy the shit out of me if we got married.
ok i saw that one! that is a working one, where as the other one is merely decorative. i read that the one near you stinks a lot?? hahaha
Unfortunately I've never seen it in action but they used to fry chicken in it. There's been a big influx of Haitians in the area so maybe they can adopt it and cook some regional specialties. So from there we're about an hour down the highway and then 10 mins to the beach, which is only stinky at low tide. ;D
What's the highlight of your summer been post roo?
definitely going to comic con in san diego. i stayed with cks (woo woo!) and gardenfresh came from LA, we went to the beach and cks took us to the casbah. i got to geek out and see some cool panels and celebs. here were some of my favorites:
jodie foster and matt damon at the elysium panel.
emily blunt and joseph gordon levitt at the looper panel.
game of thrones panel with george rr martin.
breaking bad.
and the doctor! with amy pond and rory.
also i got to ask a question in the wilfred panel. if you skip to minute 26:15 you can hear my question.
Throwback: kazaa? limewire? or napster? What did you use is the good ol P2P days?
kazaa fool! what...you were like 12 when that stuff was going down right?? haha
What social injustice infuriates you the most? simple things like no clean water, not enough food, etc....those things bother me, especially in places like america where we have so much excess.
but the one that i would say truly pisses me off is just general discrimination. who cares if someone is different than you? they aren't YOU. mind your own goddamn business and quit trying to run other people's lives. the world is such a tough place already, why would you make it harder for people on top of that? just b/c someone isn't you doesn't mean they don't deserve the same rights as you.
What do you think the answer to bullying is? addressing it. they have this whole anti-bullying thing going down now and its funny to me b/c its taken so long for something like this to come about. everyone just always wants to pretend like bad stuff doesn't happen and just sweep it under the rug. "oh they'll grow out of it." etc.
when i have a kid bullying someone in my room, we talk about it. i have NEVER been one of those teachers who forces kids to be friends or play together. that is not real life IMO. i tell my students, you do NOT have to be friends with someone, but you DO have to be courteous and treat that person like a fellow human being. as a grownup, we are around people all the time we don't care for...that annoying person in line in front of you at the grocery store who really had 35 items instead of 20 for the fast checkout, or that coworker who NEVER seems to have their part done. my hope is by teaching kids early on how to deal with people they don't care for, we can get rid of the usual outcome of these kinds of relationships, which is normally some kind of bullying.
What is the first body part you notice on someone you have just met? What conclusions do you draw from it?
definitely:
i think you can see people's smiles in their eyes and i also think you can really see when someone is mean in their eyes.
a super close 2nd (especially in men) are:
i like strong hands and if you have gross, dirty, or long nails...NO THANK YOU. hahaha
Are you political? Do you vote? i am political in that i have a stance on most prevalent issues. i do not really enjoy discussing politics, i think that almost always ends badly but if someone asks my views i will most certainly share them. i do vote, but only in major elections. like most people on this board, i would label myself liberal. i think i fall somewhere on the democrat/libertarian scale if we are getting super technical.
Do you watch any reality shows? If yes what's your favorite? i do watch reality tv, but only competition shows. project runway is my favorite.
edit: i forgot i also watch river monsters with this guy. not a competition show, but super awesome all the same.
What would you be willing to be arrested for? honestly, probably nothing. if i got arrested i would lose my job and probably never be able to teach again. plus jail scares me, i am fragile. the only thing would be like if someone hurt a person i loved and i had to get rowdy. but that would be self-defense, i would get off and be a herooooo! hahaha

Are you a beer kind of girl? TEAM CIDER. If so, what's your favorites? i don't dislike beer, i just don't go out of my way ever to drink it. i don't have a favorite, i usually like light beers. From Texas?
Have you ever been to New England before? nope. i've been new york and new jersey, but not gotten that far north yet.
How much do you really know about Stephen F. Austin? not a ton. he helped colonize texas back in the day and obviously austin is named after him.
More annoying: Josh Hamilton or JD Drew? josh hamilton annoys me b/c he always plays jesus songs when he is up to bat. i don't really believe in jesus, but if i did, i would think he has better things to do then help hamilton hit a home run. so i pick him.
What is the farthest you've ever gone just to see a single concert? (Not talking about festivals) when i was a sophomore in college, my mom took me and my friends ben and bruce to seattle to see the dave matthews solo tour when he was traveling with trey anastasio.
If you ever had the chance, would you want to see the Dalai Lama? And what would you want him to talk about? absolutely. had a friend who spent the summer in india, he saw the dalai lama and brought me back a blessed scroll.
i would probably ask him what the secret is to truly freeing yourself from material possessions.
What bands do you like that people would be legit surprised about? i like a lot of mindless pop, thought i doubt anyone is surprised b/c i'm never shy about it. i don't usually buy the whole albums but i buy tons of radio singles (like 8 months late hahaha) off itunes. things like katy perry, justin beiber, rihanna etc. i also love throwback stuff to my teen years like tonic, live...stuff like that.
Would you want to go to Freefest? i would love to go to freefest, but even if i had unlimited money i couldn't come. i'm a bridesmaid for a friend from highschool that weekend. haha
Who would be your vote for Inforoo's biggest hipster? daytripper.
Are you watching this season, and if so, do you have a favorite contestant yet? my favorite contestant quit. i didn't really like his clothes but he was so funny.
On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you to meet/snuggle with Randy?
Is this the real reason you decided to go to moog?
I'll answer these for EAP. 12. Yes.
What is your favorite type of bear? What is your favorite Big Cat? Are you going to get your class a new pet rat? What is the best gift you've ever gotten from a student (i.e. bright shiny red apple?! hand drawn card??) Favorite childhood roadtrip?

would you rather have the power to fly, be invisible, or see through walls?
if you could rid the world of one evil what would it be? people taking advantage of each other (emotionally, sexually/physically, financially etc.)
would you rather bonnaroo in extreme heat or a crazy downpour? extreme heat, i hate being unable to get dry. wet socks/shoes/feet make me want to kill baby kittens. (wait...haven't i already done bonnaroo in extreme heat?? hahaha)
On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you to meet/snuggle with Randy? 12!!!!
Is this the real reason you decided to go to moog? shhhhhhhhhh
In California, class sizes are out of control due to budget cuts. How many students are in your classes? we start class on monday and right now i have 17 in my morning class and 21 in my afternoon. it will stay between 16-23 the whole year probably. i'm lucky b/c i have an assistant. when i was in kinder it was hard having 20 5 year olds alone and making sure all their needs were met.
What color is your favorite scarf?
here is a picture of my using my favorite scarf at funfunfun fest during a dust storm. i look cray.
When meeting friends of friends, handshakes or hugs? handshake. i like giving hugs, but i know not everyone enjoys being touched. hahaha
Which bug is worse to have in your house: spiders, ants, mosquitos?
Do you see yourself moving out of Texas eventually? yes! in fact that is my goal for next year. i've been where i am for 10 years since i left my home town for college. time for a change.
Can I have any and all of your leftover black jelly beans? no i'm giving them all to randy, he told me black was his favorite. ;D
Are you going to get your class a new pet rat? no. WAY too much work. i am getting a fish though.
BUT
i really want a turtle.
What is the best gift you've ever gotten from a student (i.e. bright shiny red apple?! hand drawn card??) well there is a difference obviously between a student giving you a gift and a parent giving you a gift. haha. teachers who teach in higher income schools often get a lot of gifts, but people really underestimate the power of a well written card. it means a lot to me when parents acknowledge even in that small way how hard i am working to take care of their kid.
best parent gift: a basket full of "things i love" (things the mom really liked). it had magazines, spa stuff (lotion, eye mask, bath salts), itunes gift card, chocolate and a bottle of wine. super thoughtful and this mom was great. she really went out of her way to be a presence in the room and help with anything i needed. i miss that family for sure.
best kid gift: i had a kinder kid who made me a picture at home of our two class pets in a rat rockstar band. it was great. i ended up letting him have the picture back though b/c i put it in our art show and he was so proud of it. haha
Favorite childhood roadtrip? how long constitutes a roadtrip?? we did not do a lot of car trips outside of texas when i was younger. many plane trips, but not a lot of roadtrips. every winter when i was in highschool we drove to colorado or new mexico to go skiing but it was usually my mom and my gran in the car which is boring. haha
