Heyyyheyy, just signed up, first Roo this year! Wicked excited
Was curious if it it was at all possible to put alcohol in a plastic container that it was not sold in and get it into Roo? (In other words, pour alcohol from a glass container to a plastic container to get it in?) Was hoping some of you seasoned Roo'ers would know so I wouldn't have to test it out the hard way.
Any and all help muchly appreciated guys, thanks ;D

You can transfer your booze from glass bottles to plastic to get them into the campgrounds. They don't question what you take into the campgrounds as long as it isn't glass. I plan on using empty water bottles.
You will not however be able to take them into Centeroo, unless you are very sneaky I have bought hip flasks for my friends and I and we plan on sneaking it in under our clothes because we don't drink beer and that is all they sell in Centeroo.

Alright, niceeee, thanks a lot man! The boy is all concerned about having to drink handles of crappy liquor instead of what he's used to due to the plastic bottle stipulation... thanks so much ;D

The only problem you may run into is open container laws on the way there. If the bottle is not factory sealed it would be considered open container. To avoid this last year I poured my Jack Daniel's into water bottles and then vaccum sealed the bottles in a bag. That way I could prove I had not been drinking out of it on the road if I got pulled over.

That would be true if you are by yourself. If you have other people in your car then the passengers can say it is theirs, if they are not under age. Tennessee has no open containers for passengers of age.

Not everyone lives in TN though. A lot of us are travelling over several states to get to TN. I'm not sure if the original poster was from TN, but others should be careful and aware of open container laws in the states they pass through. In LA you can't have open containers....except for our weird frozen daquiri laws that state you can have them as long as they have a lid with a piece of scotch tape over them. They had to do that since we have a lot of drive through frozen daquiri shops. Gotta love it!
^^ a drive through frozen daquiri shop sounds like the absolute coolest thing i have ever heard of in my life. i wonder if i could open one up on the beach down here in fl? whoa.
If you are worried about open container laws, and you don't have a trunk which is seperate and not easily accessible from the passenger compartment, the best idea is to bring the glass bottles with you and make the switch just before you get in to the line. At the gate they will even have places for you to dispose of your empty glass bottles so please don't just leave them out on the side of the road.
Last year brought Crown and Vodka in a plastic beverage container and just packed it under a bunch of my camping gear. The whole vehicle would have had to be unloaded to see it. I also packed a plastic flask to take into Centeroo. The first two days I got it in by stashing it in the bathing suit bottoms of the girl I travled with. She was wearing a wrap and would always go through a line where a guy was checking bags and stuff. They never touched her. The last two days I just packed it in my Camelback at the bottom. They never noticed it. It can be done.
I prefer the liquor...I can avoid the port-o-hohns much more than when I drink beer while maintaining a decent buzz. That's always a plus!

I'm impressed with the inforoo board, guys. Legit answers in a matter of minutes.
Traveling from south Jersey to TN. Will have everything in the trunk, and not overly worried. Just didn't know if getting in would be a problem with miscellaneous containers of alcohol. Pumped that it seems to not be an issue at all.

Look it up it is true. They tried to pass the law and it failed in the house of reps for TN. Now with that said, I do not know the law for Manchester, TN
For those who haven't gone yet or haven't had experience with this:
Two years ago I put a handle of Jack in an empty Pepsi 2L bottle going to Roo from NJ. Looks a little bit similar to the naked eye. Anyway, for bringing it into Centeroo, I just put some in a regular plastic water bottle. I usually carry a few bottles with me and the people at the gate are usually not that meticulous with checking your water bottles. They mostly just don't want to see beer cans or obvious bottles of alcohol.
I threw my bottle at the bottom of my bag with some other regular water bottles and assorted crap I needed for the day. Even if they asked, I was just going to say that it was iced tea and I'm sure there would have been no trouble (I am super weird and HATE lying so I literally put in a tiny bit of iced tea so it was more of a use of mental reservation than flat out lie.) They didn't bother even asking me about it.
Unless you have something really obvious against the rules, or you happen to go through during one of the few times when they are trying to work really hard to keep things out, don't worry. You will get through just fine if you try to make it look half-way passable. Remember that most of these people are volunteers and are there to enjoy the music just like you. Play it cool and enjoy!

This seems like the best idea. It's the only way you can be sure that you are not violating any of the open-container laws.
As far as getting it into centeroo (this is for the ladies)--wear a dress and your normal undies, then some boy shorts/short biker shorts over the undies. Then you have your own little pocket up front, without having anything actually touch your skin
*boobs are also good for hiding. not trying to be gross or sexual, but no chick get patted down in those areas.

I usually wear boots to shows anyway, just cause I like to dance and not worry about stubbing my toes, and my ankles are weak as hell from when I used to play football. I was toying with hiding my flask inside my boot, though I would have to lace them up to the top to conceal properly - think anybody would screw with me on that? Are there two types of security - one for bags and another to check your person out, or what? Would they mess with a mild lump in my boot?

This has happened to a passenger in my county (not far from Manchester)... a friend got pulled over and the passenger was asked to step out of the vehicle. He was not driving, nor did he have an open container, but as soon as he was out of the car he was "publicly intoxicated" and went to jail. So I would imagine this would happen for sure if there was a container involved. Also- If a passenger has an open container, say, in the front seat, then it IS immediately assessable to the driver. Just a thought.

Nah, they just glance for a bracelet. If you have a bag they will look in it, though.

pat downs are VERY irregular, depends on the staffer & the situation.
some staffers are very cool and do extremely light pats, if any pats at all. maybe just a wave over your pockets.
some staffers (the minority, i think) can be jerks and over-pat all over
that said, if a cool staffer is faced with a rush or a long line, they may not pat all all, just look for bracelets. if a jerk staffer is faced with a rush or a long line, they may turn into a regular cool staffer.
