Saw this linked on stereogum today and just loved that percussion live. They seem like a perfect Thursday band - they have a lot of energy, a little bit of old (sound a bit like spoon [produced by Mr. Brit]) and little bit of new which is their own flava, and finally they seem like they can experiment and work with the crowd they got based on some other youtube videos I checked out.
Between them and my new love of Passion Pit's album I just downloaded today, I might just end up chilling in This Tent for most of the night.
I've listened to this album so many damn times over the last 24 hours... what was a PERFECT Thursday suddenly has a heartbreaking conflict. Well that sucks.
Has no one mentioned how much these guys sound like Cold War Kids? The video from Letterman sounds like it could have been an outtake on "Robbers and Cowards."
I agree to some extent, in terms of the jangly guitar work and piano inflected in there. However, I don't know that Cold War Kids would do something like that with a drumline, and the voices in WR are very different than CWK. Similar, though, in many ways, I agree.
Saw these guys last night and I have to say they brought it pretty hard. The crowd was REALLY small (only about 75), but typical for a Monday night in Cincinnati. That didn't stop the guys from giving their all. They ended their proper set with "Percussion Gun" and it KILLED. Got me more excited to see them in a more music/dance-friendly environment on the farm. Can't wait to kick off the Roo with WR!
I don't have a setlist, but off the top of the my head, I can tell you they played a lot of the new album, as well as some of the best of Fort Nightly. Approximately an hour in length, maybe a little over, which I felt like was really geared toward that Bonnaroo set length. Lots of heavy hitters in terms of the songs they chose. Really only played two of the mid-tempo numbers.
Off the top of my head, here are some of the songs they played, in no particular order:
Kid on my Shoulders The Plot Percussion Gun They Done Wrong/We Done Wrong While We Go Dancing Rudie Fails Company I Keep
They had an opener called The Subjects. They were pretty good and occupying similar musical territory to WR. They were a little quirkier, but still fun. Not nearly as tight as WR.

dude! Where were you? I thought the intimate audience was great. They killed it. So much better than when I saw them with Spoon, and even then they were great.
I don't know if you saw a red headed bearded guy, but if you did, 'twas me.

Didn't they play "Leave it at the Door" as well? They played the bulk of their new album, which I had not heard before. Brilliant. And then they played those three songs that were listed (Kid on my Shoulders, While We Go Dancing, The Plot). I believe those were the only songs they played from their first record.
I agree. The Specials were very similar. I enjoyed them, but WR murdered.
