saying Fallon was the best impressionist to ever be on SNL is funny. I also wish someone other than him replaced Conan in that time slot. And, its more what he hasnt done (be funny) that bugs people. Im sure hes a nice guy and all, but really SNL is the only "good" thing hes done.
See Bill Hader is the best. Dana Carvey was good at doing politicians. Phil Hartman was great (can't believe i forgot about him). But i still say he is in the top 5 impressionist on SNL. Im not saying he was the funniest. Not even close.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

Carvey did more than politicians. His Tom Brokaw, George Michael, Keith Richards, Jimmy Stewart, and plenty others were great. Not just accurate impressions, but funny too.
"WRONG! You all had Special K with Bananas!"
But yeah, the best impressionists generally got to impersonate the President. Hartman was Reagan, Carvey was Bush 1, Hammond was Clinton, Ferrell was Bush 2.

IMO it gets old when people hate things that are popular. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion however. As many people have said, if you don't like him, don't see him. I really feel sorry for people who would buy a ticket based on comedians alone, however. Anyway, I am a fan of Jimmy, but it is because my sister and I are somewhat optimistic about him. He essentially makes a fool of himself, and no one laughs at him, and that is why we find it funny. Yes, saying no one laughs at him does contradict my first statement, but he DOES have a late night program, after all. Finally, I thought a bunch of hippies would like him because of his politics, it seems like all of his friends at least are liberals. But that is neither here nor there.

I'm happy...I think he'll be okay...don't want to sound like a douchebag, but I think, in the end, Jimmy Fallon will be one of the better ones. Let's just hope he brings The Roots with him.
i'm not going to waste my time seeing him. there is no controversy. i just don't like him. and it was pretty much the purpose of this thread for me to say that. lots of people agree with me apparently.
If you're not going to waste your time seeing him, why waste your time telling us that you don't like him? Yeah, lots of people on Inforoo agree with you...and lots of other people like him. So what? I just don't understand why people feel the need to bash someone or something just because they don't like it.
It's the internet. It makes them feel cooler, knowing that they will never meet the person face to face, cause if they did, they wouldn't have the balls to say it to their face. The internet is a faceless community. I try my best to not insult anyone or say anything that I wouldn't say in real life, because if you don't, you're just being a poser, and a hypocrite.

Smite away for the truth.
Well if Jimmy Fallon came up to me and asked me what I thought of him, I honestly have no clue what I would say. Knowing me, I'd probably try and make a joke out of it and walk away without being rude to him.
But if somebody mentions Jimmy Fallon and is apparently seeking other opinions on him, it is not fair to keep quiet just because I don't like him, leaving only praises as responses. Of course I will voice my opinion. In the same sense, why do you think you have the need to voice your opinion just because you like him? Who cares, right?
Negative feedback and criticisms are important in life. If anyone who has ever disagreed with something or wasn't happy with what was given to them never spoke up, just think of where we'd be right now.

Yeah, I totally agree with you here. Criticism helps most of my work. But bashing? Like, full on, you have no right to do what you do, hate? That has no place here. You know? I'm ambivalent on Jimmy Fallon. It's just that people saying things that they wouldn't back up in real life, and things that can't possibly help the artist aren't useful. Like Danbirds comment about him being to insecure or something? That's a good comment, because it might help him.
There is a fine line between criticizing and outright bashing. I will say this, he has done nothing that has been funny or successful since leaving SNL, and I have no idea why he keeps on getting work. I am baffled by him getting the late night slot, but I doubt he will keep it for long, there are always others waiting in the wings. I never really go to the comedians anyway, so I don't care much, unless they do something stupid like put him on the big stage. He is not a dick at least like Mencia, just not very talented IMO.
i would totally diss jimmy fallon if i met him in person. i would leave him hanging with a high five. or i would just say, so what, it's jimmy fallon and ignore him.

i wanna catch him... but i'm afraid the music will end up being my choice. i've never seen a comedian at roo. i'm not missing bands to sit in a long ass line for the comedy tent. unless for some reason there's a huge gap of bands i don't want to see, then i'll be there for sure.
It seems that he's the head monologue writer for Fallon....
Oh ok. I guess I didn't read that far. That would make sense since Fallon isn't funny, he'd need his head writer there with him to make his suck slightly less.
