but i might be wrong, and hope i am - because i know a lot of you wait till the end / save up $$ over a few months to buy tickets.
That's what I'd like to do this year. Last year I bought my ticket about an hour after they went on sale; I can't do that this year. I don't really have the money right now to be spending close to a grand on a ticket, gas money, camping stuff, food, beer, party favors, souvenirs, et cetera... but I'm worried I won't be able to do Roo at all if I wait too long. Aaah, decisions, decisions.
this is not good because i am waiting on rothbury to announce their lineup...bogus
Wow. You guys are starting to scare the crap out of me. I marked down 1 month because I thought for sure they would atleast last until then. But with 1 week coming in at a close second place I'm beginning to get nervous. I hope this isn't true. Damn, looks like I might have to go ahead and get my ticket next week. I was going to wait a few weeks but honestly with so many people voting 1 week and with the way I got shutout of Phish for numerous dates I really am starting to see a one week sellout as total possibility! Eek! ???

I am curious how many people who think it will sell out are first timers.??? Just curious. I think it will sell out well before the norm 7 days before the fest, but I dont think it will be the first day.

Just voted 1 week.
Been twice before. Considering this fest is probably the best thing that happens all year to the majority of people who go... ...and considering the lineup is better than at least the last two years... I think people--whether they can afford it or not--have already allocated the $250 to this event.
Would love for it to sell out around May. Too many good people waiting for tax refunds. (Not me! I plan on letting my credit card company charge me a boatload of interest! Wheeeeee!)
Bought my 04 ticket for $100 from the front seat of a Manchester fireman's red crown vic while drinking a tall boy from a paper bag. Hope it doesn't sell out so that others may experience the UNCERTAINTY of taking a bus to Manchester, TN without a ticket (hell--without a freakin tent!) then COMPLETE RELIEF when you find tons for sale while the local fire man drives you and your greyhound friends up from the gas station and lets you drink tall boys all the way to the front gate of the fest.
It won't surprise me at all if 80K people decide tomorrow they want to be a part of that magic.
This will be my 5th Bonnaroo. I really do think that it will sellout faster than any of the others. I think I'm just spooked by the Phish ticket debacle. I tried to get tickets for quite a few shows and got shutout and a lot of friends didn't even get the tickets that I got to Great Woods. I don't think anyone really realizes the power of Phisheads. Then add in all the other people who are just going because they love Bonnaroo and you've got 10's of thousands of trickets sold already. Those last few tickets are going to go slow in my opinion but I honestly am not leaving out the consideration that it could sellout within a week. Hopefully nothing less than that.

there have been a RIDICULOUS amont of scalpers on ebay and craigslist for ALL phish shows, which really makes me nervous that roo is going to sell out super fast. i had to sell my hampton 3 day passes because we couldnt get a hotel that wasnt 45 minutes away, and i definitely wasnt driving 45 minutes home in an area i wasnt familiar with under less than sober conditions. then i went to get tickets the minute they went on sale for phish in MA last weekend and got shut out. i really hope the same doesn't happen for roo, especially since its going to be my first year. i'm hoping that all the phish phans that got shut out of hampton wont want to drive a bit longer and go see them at roo instead.
Wow !! you sold your tics because you couldn't get a hotel close enough !!???? Strange don't think I've ever heard that one before. There are many other options I could think of doing before foregoing the show altogether.
also couldn't get time off work...kinda need the money to drive down there/enjoy the time so it was a sucky situation.

Lets hope it takes a while im on the only one i know who has bought a ticket and if it does sell out soon I might have to go by myself which will kinda suck! But if theres anyone out there that is going alone and wants someone to pal up with let me know....I'm totally down with meeting new people even if my group goes you can tag along for sure....
Now that all the hype has settled down a bit how long do you all think its going to take to sell out now? I originally voted a month but now thinking about it I think it will probably be May before the fest sells out. Im sure a large majority of the major Phish fans that are going probably already bought a ticket so I think tickets will probably last awhile.
i thinking late april/early may right now. i know TONS of people that are itchin to go this year, but none of them have bought tickets yet. and i feel a lot of people might be the same way, going, "Yeah Bonnaroo is a definate... but im gonna wait till the other lineups come out.. and wait till i can afford a ticket." at least thats what i think the poor college kid's mentality is.

I was worried at first as well and my friends have already got tickets but the wife and i have to wait until wed. to get ours.....we are going to wakarusa then on to roo it's gonna be one hell of a honeymoon! anyone else doing this?
Holy God, I got smited for this? I lost like 12 karma points! Jokes, people! Jokes!
I'd give you some karma back if I could - I thought your post was funny
agreed.
As for the selling out, this is my first roo. I really know nothing of how it operates, as far as ticket sales. I bought mine the day they went on sale, but my friend needs to wait for some money to come his way later, so I'm hoping they don't sell out, or at least not for a while. If they do sell out, what are the options to a man who doesn't have his ticket, aside from outrageous scalper prices? I heard that there are generally people in the wal mart parking lot, selling tickets (at reasonable prices) that belonged to friends who couldn't make it, etc. Is that reliable?

Go to Nashville's craigslist after tickets are mailed out and or eBay. Last year I got my ticket about 2 weeks before Roo off someone local who found out she was pregnant and couldn't go for 200 bucks, and a friend of mine ordered his a few days later on eBay for 125.

That sounds like a pretty good idea, I would think that if you go down there with cash and no ticket that you would find a way to get one. You never can be 100% certain about things like that, though, it would be a toss-up to risk it!

yeah i kinda figured it'd be soon. i'm thinking more along the lines of them upping the capacity this year. i know i know, they've said they won't. but honestly they've done it before so i don't honestly see why they wouldn't do it especially the way the economy is going it'd be a good way to pump more money into something that could be beneficial (think of all the jobs that are being created for this event, not that that would be there main concern... :: makes sound of cash register. cha ching . i dont know, just an idea. i'm not really sure what economic impact is like for a festival like Bonnaroo but i imagine it's pretty heavy. im rambling. but the way i see it, and this is just all an opinion, but i think if they don't up the capacity the possibility of this festival selling out soon (maybe a month or two) is very real, otherwise adding an extra 10 to 20 thousand tickets could easily make tickets be onsale for atleast right up until a few weeks away from it. either way this festie is gonna be a blast this year!!!!
