That's my point exactly. It wasn't an "oops, they're on to us!" moment...they knew what they were doing.
My mistake.........I had read your post and thought you were trying to say it's naive of us to think that they were watching us. Like that we weren't the reason they took the list off.
I see waht you're saying now. Why can't it be the 3rd already so we can know?

This makes me excited, but I'm still skeptical.
Something that is fueling my excitement is the fact that before Ultra EVER announced their initial lineup, they had Prodigy as their #1 friend. Guess who's headlining Ultra? Prodigy.
It's definitely possible. A lot of the bands on this list would make me VERY happy.

I just can't see why NIN would get added as a friend if they weren't going to be added to the lineup. They fit the mold of huge, heavy bands (Tool, metallica) and many fans have asked for years to get them on the farm. I hope it wasn't done just to screw with us.

dudes, have faith. I really think it was done to stir up some rumors of what is to come. the hacking thing just seems far fetched to me, that they would hack to add bands to fake someone out, and it also seems like faking us out at all wouldn't help them in any way shape or form. I think it is to get the buzz going because we are in for it!

i'm not really a fan of NIN, i really only like a few songs, however, with what i heard about their light show last year, and whatever his new show plans are, this beta version of what pink floyd did with the wall or whatever he said it was similar to, than roo needs to jump on that and book them, and with the myspace friends thing, if NIN was added to mess with us, even i, not a fan, would be disappointed if NIN was a band added to mess with us, so here's to hoping we'll get a spectacular show from NIN at roo this year
i felt nearly the same way about tool in 2007, not really a fan, although i like a tad more of tool's music than NIN, but tool can put on a live show, i actually got a little scared watching that tool show because of something i had absorbed on my tongue
that night was like a rollercoaster, string cheese was one of my favorites, and that was my last cheese show ever, i went back and forth that night from feeling anxious and scared at tool, to happy and sad at cheese, what a long strange *you know* that was
Does anyone really believe they made those deletions because they found out we were watching? I think that's a little naive. The entire thing was quite calculated. I'm not sure what to make of it, but we're talking about a top grossing festival. It's not like Bill and Ted are sitting around conjuring up harebrained schemes.
Karma to you because the word harebrained makes sense to me now.... I always thought it was hair-brained. Doesn't make any sense
Like the hair was growing into the head and mucking up the thinking? That cracks me up. Karma to you for making me laugh after today's non-Bonnaroo ticket debacle.
I'm pretty sure Citizen Cope will be there. If you watch the trends of bands that come through Knoxville from January to June, you see some of the confirmations.
Phish - Playing Knoxville, TN 6/10! Robert Earl Keen - Playing Knoxville, TN 2/11! Citizen Cope - Playing Knoxville, TN 2/4! The Zac Brown Band - Playing Knoxville, TN 2/5!
And these are coming too...
Disco Biscuits - Playing Knoxville, TN tonight! Ben Folds - Playing Knoxville, TN 2/22! STS-9 - In NC thru AC Ent. at Orange Peel on 3/17! (would be awesome to have them at roo ) Opeth - In Knoxville, TN 5/22!
I bet we see quite a few of these bands on the lineup! AC is in Knoxville and they are wanting to bring some of the Roo signee's through here first.

I still don't think this was an accident at all. Anyone who thinks they added these artists and then only deleted them because they noticed us noticing....come on, give them a little credit! Releasing the lineup is a huge deal for each of these big festivals, they know what they're doing.
And as others have said, if everything they added was going to play the lineup would be way too big, so I'm sure some of the artists will play and some won't. And the same goes for the ones that are still there. They gave us a few obvious jokes that clearly won't play, but there are still some real ones up there too, I think. I could see Harper Simon at Roo, and there's others still there that seemed logical too, although I can't remember them.
And 2candamn - a red herring is a dead end, a fake clue, etc. Like in our Roo Clues, #11 was a red herring, it's meaningless and doesn't point to any band/artist on the lineup. And now, some of the artists getting added to the Myspace are red herrings.

Well if they did it on purpose, why would they put up Bruch, Phish, NIN and Beastie Boys if they weren't going to play? That's not clever marketing, that's just cruel!
I still don't think they would do something like this on purpose. While it does create buzz it could also easily backfire. If someone sees a certain band that they really want to see they will get excited and then if the lineup comes out and that band is not on there they are going to be disappointed. I think that roo is smart enough to know that disappointing people is not good for business.

I don't know if these have been posted yet but these are all recent additions to bonnaroo's myspace friends... DJ Shades Math Machines Briar Thickett Walking Relic AA Bondy The Devonshires Tim Burgess Alberta Cross
If NIN plays are we going to get "NIN fans are going to ruin Bonnaroo" and people afraid there going to get stabbed or robbed by angry NIN fans or do you think everyone will be cool with it?

I think how well the whole metallica thing went last year, i think that worry might be lessened. Plus Phish and Bruce fans will be there in much larger numbers...
Yeah I remember first it was Tool fans were going to ruin Bonnaroo, and then last year it was Metallica so obviously we will get the "NIN fans are going to ruin Bonnaroo" at some point but hopefully like Rooconteur said people have learned there lesson by now.
